This is known as the quiet side of Acadia, which offers breathtaking views as well as a ferry to Bar Harbor, to avoid traffic.

THE LOCATION The Historic village of Sorrento was developed as a summer community for the wealthy in the mid 1880s. It is now a true hidden gem in Down East Maine. A very desirable, secluded community offering spectacular views of Bar Harbor and the mountains of Mount Desert Island. Sorrento’s 9 -hole public golf course is a rare jewel on the rugged Maine coast, echoing the more storied layouts of St. Andrews and Royal Troon, Scotland. The open, links-style course offers exquisitely manicured bent grass greens and stunning views of Flanders Bay. Bring your kayak (or rent one) and explore the densely forested Preble Island -- located directly across the harbor -- known for its cobble beaches and roosting eagles. Or discover the many nearby islands. Other local activities include biking, boating, fishing, and bird watching.

Great stay with a beautiful view. The only thing is that the landscaping could be done. The accommodations were great and easy to manage.
4.7
Loved the house. Looking out on the water in the morning and evenings was so relaxing! There was a heat wave but fans are available, so we made the best of it. Well stocked kitchen. Would stay again if visiting Bar Harbor.
4.7
The stay in Sorrento was great for a family trip with my girlfriend and parents. Loved the home and location! 45 minutes from Acadia National Park but off the touristy radar so we could still have quiet nights looking out at the water and peaceful mornings doing the same

This property worked very well for our family of 5 as a quiet alternative to staying in Bar Harbor for our exploration of Acadia. It’s very convenient to the Schoodic Penninsula portion of the park, and we really liked that less visited part of the park. The town of Sorrento is very peaceful, and it was nice wandering down the waterfront in the evening. The deck view from the house is lovely, and I spent a wonderful afternoon out there reading and enjoying the wearher.
Our only complaint about the property is that the mattress in the second bedroom really needs an upgrade. The master, daybed in the master, and the futon in the basement were all very comfy.

Perfect view. Peaceful retreat after long days at Acadia. Cleanest property we have ever stayed at.
4.7
The house was very nice. My family and I enjoyed a long weekend getaway and enjoyed all of the property had to offer. Close to Acadia national park and to several local restaurants.

Cozy home nice and clean great view. The property managers were quick to respond to questions and problems. The location was nice and quiet. Home could use some updates some blinds do not work, could use some new wash cloths for the bathroom. The beds were clean and we slept good. The location was great to be able to be accessible to both sides of Acadia NP.

We had two couples on a road trip from Boston to Acadia. This house worked out great for us. We each had our own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen had everything we needed. We walked through the neighborhood and down to the water to watch the sunset - beautiful! Unfortunately, we didn't get to see any eagles. We had great weather so the deck got used both days/nights we were there. The living room furniture and deck furniture could use an upgrade though but that didn't take away from a great stay.

The location was spectacular. We were a 30min drive from both parts of Acadia and the view from the front deck was spectacular itself. It felt like a home away from home and had everything you would need. We loved the sun room!

This was the perfect place for us, four old college roommates getting together to hang out after 40 years. We loved waking up each morning to see the harbor full of lobster boats in the early fog, so rustic. The place is homey, comfortable and well taken care of. If you need a fourth bed you might want to bring an inflatable one like we did as the sofa may not be your cup of tea (if you like to spread out). Highly recommended!
4.7
Nice, well kept house away from the hustle & bustle of Bar Harbor for our first visit to the Coast of Maine. Loved having morning coffee on the deck with the view of the harbor and ocean and then at night sitting out taking in the star-filled sky. Only suggestion would be to leave either the porch or garage light on on the day someone new is checking in for the first time. We arrived well after dark and had a hard time seeing where the door was to enter the house.

The rental house was spacious and had an incredible view! We loved cooking in the large kitchen and just enjoying the quiet neighborhood!
4.7
Quiet neighborhood with spectacular views of the bay. The house was larger then expected. We had 2 vehicles, so parking was a challenge, but manageable.
4.7
Property is very large and big enough to accommodate a larger family. All amenities are there. All beds did not have clean linens on check in, and house needed to be aired out on arrival (odd smell). Never fully got rid of smell and couldnt figure out the source.
Beds are comfortable, and there is everything there you need to enjoy a family vacation and cook meals. There was ample hot water.
The location is good for the park. You are away from the crowded tourist area but it comes at the cost of convenient restaurants. If you are planning on cooking most meals this is the right place.
Overall, the house grew on me and has charm. Sitting on the deck watching the boats at the end of a long day of hiking was perfect.
4.7
Great place to stay for Acadia national park and peace and quiet
4.7
Quiet and relaxing with a wonderful view into the harbor. The house is beautiful, cozy, and rustic with incredible views of numerous small boats and fishing vessels in Sorrento Harbor as you sip your morning coffee from the roof deck, it’s very quaint and lovely. It’s everything you’d imagine from a stay on the Maine coastline.

Easy booking, clean house - Enjoyed going to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Convenient locations
4.7
Well-appointed home with incredible views. We enjoyed walking this beautiful neighborhood each day and found the home to have everything we needed. When we had questions we received immediate answers! We will miss having coffee on the deck overlooking the water.
4.7
We came to Maine on a road trip and spent our time here while visiting Acadia. It was in a great location and a great home. Very clean and hope to come back to spend some time in the area.
4.7
Overall nice place. Quaint, quiet, wonderful view of the bay, clean. Room in basement has musty smell but they have dehumidifiers down there that somewhat helps. Water pressure could be improved as couldn’t take shower with dish washer or clothes washer going at same time or other shower. Just a heads up also, kitchen counters are very low. Not sure if it’s handicapped level but I’m not tall & my back was bothering me when doing dishes/cooking and reaching at lower level. Thanks for having us and we enjoyed visiting the surrounding area!
4.7
Sister trip 2023 was a relaxing success.
4.7
This house has a view of the water and short walk to town dock. Sorrento is charming and this house is too.
4.7
We loved our stay here. The only downside for us was the distance to Acadia and Bar Harbor where we did most of our activities. The beds were so comfortable and we loved the little porch looking over the bay. We did a kayak tour right outside on the bay and it was fabulous. Saw porpoises, osprey and seals up close and personal! Cool!
4.7
Enjoyed our stay. House was extremely clean. Only suggestion would be to update the showers. One shower was extremely small and the other shower head was very low.
However, would not stop us from staying here again. Could not ask for a prettier location or cleaner place.
4.7
Loved this property! Large home, great kitchen, lots of room, amazing view and excellent host. Thanks!!

We enjoyed our two-night stay at this beautiful property... wish we would've had more time to spend there just relaxing as it was so homey feeling. It was very clean and comfortable with lovely coastal decor. The communication with the property manager was excellent! We originally wanted to stay in Bar Harbor as we were there to visit Acadia but due to limited options, we chose this property and are glad we did. It was very peaceful and nice to get away from the busyness of that area and definitely worth the 40-minute drive. Be sure to plan accordingly as there are no grocery stores or restaurants in Sorrento!
4.7
Beautiful views, far from any town, property needs some updating and value for cost is poor. Excellent views, outdoor space are the selling point. Property management was very good no issues at all.

We had a Wonderful experience and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The views from the rooms and the deck were just beautiful. A short walk down the road and you can see the Acadia mountains. It is only 20 minutes to Schoodic point which is the quiet part of Acadia National Park and was incredible.
4.7
House locations was great! We enjoyed our stay! The 2nd bathroom was very small. Had cable which was nice at night. Couch in living room was a little hard to get up from for some of our group (all over 65).
4.7
Staff was friendly and prompt in communication.
Wish it hadn’t rained the whole time so we could’ve enjoyed the porch views.
4.7
Nice, comfortable house that was centrally located between both parts of Acadia National Park. Great views from the front window and front deck. Had a wonderful time.
4.7
This property has the most AMAZING water view and is perfectly located for beautiful morning walks. The property manager was very responsive to our questions. Lovely home.

We enjoyed the Sorrento cottage immensely: the view, the house. It was a nice and quiet getaway from the busy Bar Harbour/MDI area.
4.7
Great communication. It was very clean. Had a great view.
4.7
Beautiful location, about an hour drive from Bar Harbor. Pictures don’t do the scenery justice. Photos of the house are accurate. Counter tops in the kitchen are oddly low. Kitchen is well stocked. Basement is a bit musty smelling, but dehumidifiers are running. Owners are quickly responsive to inquiries. FYI, there is a dishwasher, but it oddly has to drain into the kitchen sink and there were no instructions provided, even when we asked if we could use it. There is no AC, but all the windows open and allow for a nice cross breeze.
4.7
The house perfect to come back to after a day of hiking and exploring Acadia/Bar Harbor. Beautiful views. Loved the sun room and front deck. Check in was easy, house was clean.
4.7
Great location to explore the Maine coast
Comfortable and relaxing location with nice views. Easy day trips to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park , etc....
Will recommend to friends
4.7
Great except for lower level.
Great property except the lower level is moldy so we don’t recommend that part of the house as an extra sleeping space.
