This recent barn conversion offers luxury accommodation with real country charm and is the ideal place to enjoy a long weekend and escape to the country. All the accommodation - Larch Cottage (ref UK36198) Ash Hill (ref UK36199), Homewood (ref UK36205) and Sika Cottage (UK36194) adjoin one another shape and can be booked together to accommodate 20 guests, with the owners’ permission. Homewood has two gardens, East and South facing and is very light and airy and you can clearly see the tower of Fordingbridge’s 12th century church in the distance. There is also a rustic play area for children and freshly laid eggs daily from the on-site chickens! For guests who may wish to bring a horse, the owners offer a stabling option by prior arrangement.
Discover the scenic walks from your door starting with a private 40-acre ancient woodland which lies along the western escarpment of the Avon Valley and was used to hide tanks during the build up to D Day, filled with bluebells during the season, and at one end joins the Avon Valley path, which leads all the way from Christchurch to Salisbury. For those that like the outdoor lifestyle this is an excellent situation; there is on-site archery, axe throwing and fishing in the River Avon (licence required). Nearby there is horse riding, the New Forest Water Park for cable wakeboarding, with an aqua park, kayaking and other water sports. For those bringing dogs, there are plenty of excellent walks all around, many of which offer great bird and wildlife spotting. Places to visit include Alderholt Mill, which has a working watermill open to visitors and offers cream teas at the weekend during the summer, and Moors Valley Country Park and Forest, which has orienteering, Go Ape, cycle hire, golf, forest Segway, walking groups, canoeing, petanque and craft making. The New Forest National Park provides miles of scenic walks and a network of bridle paths and footpaths, you find ponies, donkeys and cattle roaming freely.
The charming town of Fordingbridge, which has a host of shops, cafés and eateries, and the gentle flowing River Avon through the town are also both nearby. Ringwood has a good selection of shops and restaurants and is about a 15-minute drive away. The barn conversions are well placed for road links to the cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury, Christchurch Harbour, and the coast, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. Other places of interest include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Marwell Zoo, Paultons Park with Peppa Pig World, Adventure Wonderland, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, New Forest Wildlife Park, and maritime Southampton. There are many amazing country houses and gardens such as Broadlands - Romey, Wilton House – Salisbury, Kingston Lacy – Wimboune, Exbury House & Gardens – Beaulieu, Breamore House, and Museum – Breamore added to this the seasonal events such as the 3 days New Forest Show, The Great Dorset Steam Fair, Coco Fair Downton, The Great Dorset Chilli Festival. Or come down for a golfing holiday and use the cottage as you base when playing at some of the local courses such as: Broadstone, Remedy Oak, Fendown, Hampworth, Brokenhurst Manor, Bramshaw.
