About this villa rental
Our recently refreshed Calabash Villa is a 4 bedroomed, 3 bathroom home sleeping 8 (maximum) comfortably, with private pool. Set in secluded landscaped gardens with Palm Trees, Bougainvillea, Hibiscus and Bird of Paradise Shrubs. It is fully air conditioned with ceiling fans throughout, vaulted ceilings, contemporary styled furnishings and all amenities for a perfect villa holiday. Fast WiFi Internet and Cable TV is provided. The lounge, kitchen and dining area all open out onto the veranda and sun deck making Calabash perfect for al fresco living with a 15ft x 30 ft pool with steps for easy access, gas barbecue, table and chairs, sun loungers with a large umbrella. Relax in the new sofa area whilst reading your book, listening to music or having a sundowner.
Situated on a quiet secluded road, less than 5 minutes walk to Jolly Harbour Marina with its Restaurants, Bars, Shops and Supermarket and a 10 minute walk to Jolly Beach (the best beach on the island in my opinion) with a lovely Beach Bar. Calabash Villa is set in a mature garden with palms, bougainvillea and bird of paradise shrubs and all overlooking a natural lake with abundant wildlife. This private and tranquil setting is ideal for groups, families and couples who want to enjoy this spacious villa, whether it’s the internal Caribbean feel good factor, dining and socialising on the veranda day or night to your favourite music from our bluetooth Bose Sound System.
Calabash Villa is conveniently situated midway between the Jolly Harbour complex and the 5* Sugar Ridge Hotel. You have the luxury of your own pool, drinks on tap, outside dining from your BBQ, all to your favourite music and also less than 5 minutes walk to Jolly Harbour complex, with supermarket, shops, pharmacy, bars and restaurants. The Marina offers yacht charters, round the island cruises and many other tours and adventures. The Pop-Up beach bar and restaurant is right on Jolly Beach providing it’s own sunbeds and umbrellas (free if you use there drinks and lunch facilities). It has full changing facilities. If you want to do your own thing with a cool box from the villa then that’s fine too, there are other sunbeds and umbrellas for hire along the beach. Sandra’s Bar is just 50 yards further along on the left and even closer to the sea, is typically Caribbean, feet in the sand, a more informal restaurant and bar service setting.
All the local beaches have pristine white powder sand, pure blue water and beach restaurants. The four other local beaches south of Calabash are, Valley Church Beach, Ffryes Beach, Darkwood Beach and Turners Beach, all within 6 minutes drive.
At Calabash Villa, all of the bedrooms spacious and naturally they have ceiling fans and air conditioning, vaulted ceilings giving it a light and airy feeling typical of the Caribbean. The bathrooms are all modern with walk in showers or bath. The kitchen is a large open plan affair, so that even if you are prepping or cooking for the BBQ, you are socially inclusive with all that is going on. Designed with emphasis on outdoor living, has external dining, lounge area and BBQ on the patio, pool decks which give the choice of sun and shade areas. All surrounded by mature Caribbean fauna giving you seclusion to enjoy your outdoor living. Your pool is family friendly (4 feet deep) the main entry steps are wide semi-circular making it easy to get in and out, plus the added advantage to act as social wet seating to chat and relax with sundowners.
The villa has free unlimited high speed 4G broadband and WiFi for your use. The Bose Sound System in the lounge has bluetooth connectivity so that you can stream your favourite music. It is normally mains powered, but you can unplug and it will continue streaming on battery power for quite some time on the veranda.
On arrival at the Villa guest are meet by Jovanna, who will pass over your keys, explain the key need to knows about the villa, and Jolly Harbour, plus the villa has a complimentary welcome pack of necessities to get your holiday off to a great start. Jovanna and Villa Management are at your disposal, should you have any problems.
Calabash Villa is unsuitable for wheelchair users, but is reasonably friendly to people with moderate mobility with only 8 steps to get from the driveway to the deck, all the rest of the accommodation is single level, with a small step onto the veranda.
It is simple to get around the Island by either car, taxi or bus, which incidentally drive on the right hand side. The Capital St Johns is home of the cruise liners and international shopping can be found in the totally restored Heritage Quay. Only a few yards away you walk back into history with the old character filled buildings and streets, all safe to walk unlike some Caribbean destinations. In the countryside the many abandoned sugar mills act as a reminder of bygone trade and slavery. Nelsons dockyard is a fully restored working harbour which has won many awards and only a short distance away is Shirley heights and its colonial fort - here there are stunning views over both the sea and countryside. Worth a visit is Betty's Hope which was Antigua’s first sugar estate & some restoration of the ruins have taken place and the Mill is now totally intact. All guests are provided with our “Insiders Guide to Antigua” complied by the owners from over 15 years of experience of visiting the island.
Apart from the beaches there is plenty to do so perhaps try :-
Round the island Catamaran tours, these are larger boats with music, lunches and drinks all provided and Private Yacht Charter can be arranged from the commercial complex in Jolly Marina.
For younger ones there is the Donkey sanctuary which is a simple establishment, but captivating for children who can ‘adopt’ the donkey of their choice. A small fee will make them eligible for a certificate & photo, plus regular updates on their new pet. The sanctuary cares for abandoned, injured and abused animals from all over the island and is a charity. Entry is free.
Alternatively there is rare chance to swim with Sting-rays at Stingray City . A high speed boat takes you out to sea to a pontoon where you can stand or swim in the warm shallow water. Usually about 30 - 40 rays come in from the Ocean and you can then both stroke, hold and feed them. This is a well organised professional excursion, totally safe for children.
Our “Insiders Guide to Antigua” includes details on these and links to many more tours, things to do and see and restaurants, bars and of course our 365 beaches.

A wonderful place. Certainly met our family’s expectations.

Alan and team were very responsive and supportive throughout for the trip. From check-in information to sightseeing and care hire services. Colleagues and I quite appreciate the level of service provides. The villa was amazing!

With less than a 10 minute walk to the beach and a 3 minute walk to the local grocery store the location of this villa was fantastic. The lush plants and garden are what really separate this villa from the others nearby as you feel totally secluded and honestly with the gigantic pool, enormous deck and all of the seating areas on the deck it made it hard for our family to actually leave the villa!

Calabash Villa was the perfect place for our first-ever visit to Antigua! The location is ideal: super close to the supermarket and amazing restaurants, and a quick walk or drive to the best beaches on the Caribbean side of the island. The house was clean and comfortable, and we loved lazy mornings and tranquil evenings on the lanai. The pool is fantastic—perfect for a late-night dip. Alan prepared us so well for what it would be like at the house and on the island that everything was easy and stress-free all week. The beds were comfortable, you can't go wrong with multiple bathrooms, and we loved being able to eat meals at the house (when we weren't out looking for the island's best roti, rum punches, and coconut shrimp, that is!). We rented a car and drove all over, from St. John's to Long Bay, English Harbour, etc., but quickly found that Jolly Harbour and this villa were the best, most beautiful, and most accessible and friendly parts of Antigua. We highly recommend Darkwood Beach for an afternoon of swimming and off-the-beach snorkeling, Big Head Lobster for a delicious dinner, and renting Calabash Villa from Alan. You won't be disppointed!

The house looks exactly like its photos, even better if that's possible. Four friends each had their own bedroom and 3 1/2 bathrooms, a large bright kitchen with everything we needed, a lovely outdoor sitting area, and the most perfect pool, which the sun kept at the ideal temperature. We liked the privacy, and though we could sometimes hear neighbors, workers, and dogs, it was muffled by the abundance of foliage and bougainvillea. The proximity to all the restaurants, shops, and beach in Jolly Harbour was a plus, and the host's recommendations for places to eat and swim were appreciated! We loved Fryyes Beach and Darkwood Beach especially (and Jolly Beach) and our week was up before we knew it.

My husband and I were so pleased to call Calabash Villa our home for 3 weeks. This villa is as advertised: modern, well maintained and pristine. It met/exceeded our expectations. The villa is well appointed and had everything we needed. We loved the close proximity to the market (a 5 min walk) and to Jolly Beach ( a 10 min walk). Alan, the owner, was wonderful to work with. Very responsive. He provided great info re: Calabash and the island prior to arriving. The management team of Joelle, Jovanna and Ben met our every need/request. Avril did a fabulous job of cleaning each week. We highly recommend Calabash Villa for your next getaway to Antigua!

We stayed here with our two boys (10 and 8). The villa is perfect- beautifully done with spacious bedrooms and great outdoor hang out areas. Very comfortable with everything you need!
The location is just outside of jolly harbour on a rough road so definitely recommend getting a car- especially if you want to go to some of the other beaches. We spent most days at Darkwood Beach where the snorkeling was great!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Calabash Villa! There were seven of us and we had plenty of room! The bedrooms are spacious, and the room with two beds actually has two double beds (rather than two twins). The kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses, bowls, etc.
I would HIGLY recommend renting a golf cart for your visit. We rented two and were able to easily traverse to the beach, grocery store and plenty of restaurants. We used beach chairs and umbrellas at the Pop Up Beach Bar on Jolly Beach and did several excursions around the island. It was truly magnificent!

The property was great. Accommodated two families with kids ranging from 11 to 16. Location of Jolly Harbor was terrific. Supermarket, shops and the beach was within 5 minutes. We rented a car and a golf cart which was perfect to explore the island and allow the kids to travel to Jolly Harbor. Went to many lovely beaches but Jolly Beach was beautiful and had the convenience of food, water sports, etc. Loved our time at the Villa. Alan was very helpful prior to the trip and the management company was accessible for anything we needed.

We had a wonderful time at this house for our girls trip birthday week. It had every amenity we could hope for and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool as well. We found the location to be ideal with Jolly Beach close by and was centrally located to many other beaches and driving distance to other areas of the island. Communication with the host and the property managers was great- very prompt, easy and super helpful. We would love to come back again!

Brilliant villa and island.
The villa was spotless and very well equipped.
Jovanna was extremely helpful and responsive
Close to Jolly Harbour and also a few great restaurants.
Loved the beach at Fyffes.
Would highly recommend staying at Calabash.

The villa is extremely clean and well looked after, the online pictures do not do this home justice. The pool is really big and a welcome sight after a long day. There was everything we needed for our stay and we were very comfortable. Highly recommended

It was dark when we arrived and was disappointing that no-one was there to greet us and show us how anything worked and no contact from anyone whilst staying there unless I contacted them. Otherwise Villa was lovely, loved the pool and outside seating area. Shame about all the guard dogs barking every night from the other villas. Good location with supermarket only 2 minutes away. Beach was slightly longer walk than expected.

We had a lovely stay at villa calabash. The owner Alan was particularly helpful from the point of first enquiry onwards, answering questions and making sure we had all the info we needed for a great holiday. The local villa management team were then on hand for anything we needed. The pool in the villa is fabulous and made for many a happy afternoon relaxing in the sunshine but the facilities and beach of jolly harbour were also super close…just minutes by foot including to a supermarket, multiple restaurants, and a lovely beach. The air con and fans made sure we were always comfortable in the villa where everything was provided, including a gas bbq for dinners at home. Thank you Alan for a lovely stay and for being so helpful from start to finish. I would thoroughly recommend this villa…west is best, as I learnt on this holiday and we felt like we made the best choice of all with this villa.

This villa was great and huge! Came with two friends and we each had our own bathroom and room. Definitely equipped for more people. The villa is outfitted with everything you may need to cook though we never did. It was in excellent condition and better than the photos ! The host is extremely responsive and the local property manager was great. We had some small issues the first day and it was very promptly addressed. Overall a wonderful place to stay, in a great location!

Beautiful villa, even better and bigger than the pictures. We had a lovely BBQ with our wider family on one day and there was ample space. Everything you could possible need, clean, safe, and lovely pool area. Would recommend to anyone!

We had a great 2 weeks at Calabash. The initial communication with Alan was helpful and thorough and Jovanna at the property management company was really helpful. The villa is within easy walking distance of Jolly Harbour and its restaurants, bars and beaches.
The villa is clean and well equipped. The sun is on the pool most of the day - it’s great for late afternoon swimming.
We took the bus into St John’s from just by the supermarket. It costs ECD 6.50 each return and gives a real feel of island life.
Try Sandra’s Beach Bar for the sun setting and Sea Dreams the Sports Bar for a good value evening meal with entertainment.
We all had a really good holiday.

Had a group of 7 girls at the Villa and it was perfect. Everything we needed and close to the beach, grocery store and restaurants. The Villa was very clean and everything was sorted by management. 10/10

Alan has a lovely villa with all the proper amenities necessary to enjoy a beautiful family vacation. Jolly Harbour beach is beautiful and calm (great for kids). I feel a car is necessary to see more of the island but there are plenty of nice restaurants nearby. There is also the Epicurean Supermarket walking distance which is well stocked , they also sell beer, wine, liquor.
Very important also is the management team Alan has running the villa wonderful people and attentive to any questions or concerns you may have during your stay. Kudos to them.
Thank you and hope to be back again for another visit.

A five star review. The property was beautiful, the kitchen was well equipped and the location was well positioned for all the amenities.
Only 10 minutes walk to the supermarket and 20 minutes walk to Jolly beach.
We decided against hiring a car and decided to spend the money on day trips out and taxis as needed. The Villa management team (Jovanna) was always on hand and the service was great.
We found out after we arrived, that we could have organised a golf buggy to get around but sadly these need to be booked well in advance and the earliest available buggies were in March 23. The pre arrival information sent by the owner was excellent but it was a shame it never mentioned buggy hire, as this would have given us the advanced heads up. If we return, we will know for next time however.
The only downside to our overall holiday experience, which clearly is outside of the owners control, was that the surrounding villas in the immediate vicinity kept dogs outside and so we had to put up with intermittent barking during the day and howling and barking most nights, which impacted on our sleep.

This was my wife and my 17th trip to Jolley Harbour. We had two friends who had been to Jolley Harbour several years ago and our Niece and Nephew's first trip.
The Calabash Villa is a beautiful property. The villa was well equipped with everything you might need on vacation. The management company was great, cleanliness outstanding.
The property is however a 5-minute walk to the gate of the "Jolley Harbour Gated community" and 15–20-minute walk to the beach for me. A golf cart is highly recommended especially if you are a senior citizen. We ended up renting 2 golf carts to get around.

This place is beautiful. It’s just sparkles inside and out. Love love the pool. Mitty Thomas, our property manager, and her team were lovely and very responsive and to all our requirements. Can’t wait to re-book our stay.
Alan, you have the perfect Caribbean spot and a lovely staff

We had a lovely week staying at Calabash Villa. It was as lovely as the pictures suggested!
Fantastic flow of information from both the owners and the management company prior to our arrival. Mitty was superbly helpful and responded quickly to any queries.

We had a brilliant time at Villa Calabash! There were 2 families with kids and it was the perfect size.
The pool was the highlight for the kids who were in it from 7am every day. Great height for our 7-11 year olds as they could stand so we could relax a little more.
The location was perfect walking distance to the beach, shop and restaurants. The rooms are bigger than the photos look with great wardrobe space. And powerful showers needed after a salty beach day.
It was really clean and the welcome was great to ensure we knew how to lock up, get on to Wi-Fi etc… Antigua isn’t known for its reliable Wi-Fi so being able to do some work was great.
All in all I highly recommend staying at Villa Calabash.

Excellent property, a real find and only a short walk from everything
Excellent service from start to finish , comfortable, clean and large enough for all the family

Great Villa, well stocked in a good location
This Villa was really nice, very well equipped with all you would need to stay from towels to all your kitchen equipment. It has 4 really nice sized bedrooms with comfy large beds in all and ample storage.
There are sliding doors leading out to the outside and the pool is a generous size with nice seating, lots of sunbeds and looks just like the photos.
The only improvement would be to have a small amount of essential cooking items such as oil, tea, coffee, etc.
Also finding the property was troublesome as the address was only sent to us on the pdf and it was not able to be found on Google maps. It is down an unnamed road on maps and a diagram showing the property's location would be benefial for future guests. Nevertheless I fully recommend this place to stay in Antigua and would welcome a stay again. Thank you to the management team also.

Lovely property in quiet setting
We stayed at the house for 6 days and had a great time. The house is even nicer than on the pictures and the kitchen is well equipped. The pool area is great

Great house for a family reunion, close to the beach
This was the best of both worlds! We were close to town/beach/marina but we also had space with a pool, amazing deck and a grill. We rented a golf cart in town so we can cart the baby back and forth from the beach (or it’s a 15 mins easy walk). We really enjoyed the house and the pool and we will definitely be back.

Half term break
We recently spent 9 days at this property. Having never been to Antigua before, we chose this villa for its proximity to the beach, bars, restaurants and supermarket. It was definitely 5 star and I would not hesitate to recommend it.
We are a family of 5. There was plenty of space for us all and every detail had been considered. We loved the bbq and pool area and the ability to walk everywhere. Sundowners on the beach were a highlight.
From the moment I first enquired about the villa, Sue was superb. She is a first class communicator, always responding quickly and provided comprehensive informaton about the villa, the area and the island itself. We had to delay our planned trip due to covid and Sue was fair and understanding.
Mitty was our contact out there and she also provided a brilliant service.
Mitty recommended a car hire service which again was first class. The car was delivered to our door at the agreed time and we spent a week exploring different parts of the island. We also took a boat tour 'Eli's Eco Tour' from JH which explored the off islands combining snorkelling and a hike.
We very much hope to return in the not too distant future.

Amazing!
We stumbled across this property having had to cancel our usual stay at st James over the Christmas period due to covid. This villa is incredible. The house is beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. The outside space couldn’t be better, with a wonderful area to relax and dine as well as a superb pool and lots of loungers. The location for us was amazing. Easy access to jolly but just outside the village. We have been coming to antigua for over 10 years and this has been our favourite villa. We loved it and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed :D

A wonderful stay in Jolly at Calabash
We got very lucky finding Sue’s wonderful property. It was perfect for our two families. 4 large bedrooms, a great lounge kitchen area which had everything we needed, large pool and the location was really near the super market. The villa felt very private with the mature garden which was beautiful. Sue was very helpful in the lead up to our stay and Mitty was on hand when we were in Antigua to help with anything we needed.
Thank you! We would love to stay again!

Beautiful villa
We stayed for a week in December for our daughter’s wedding. The property is excellent. As the other reviewers noted it is much larger than it looked in the photos. The decor and amenities are lovely and the pool was a huge highlight, we spent most of our time at the pool or nearby beach. The house has everything we needed and 3 full baths were great for dressing for the wedding. Beach is about a 10 minute walk, excellent grocery store a few minutes away. Our first visit to the gorgeous island of Antigua, hopefully we can return. The people are all very friendly and helpful. We greatly appreciated this country’s focus on Covid safety. Mandatory temp checks and hand sanitizer was everywhere. All in all it was a perfect place for a vacation stay. Communication with Sue was fantastic, she gave us so much helpful advice. The property manager was extremely helpful before we arrived, once there it was a little difficult at times, but we chalked that up to “island time vibes”. Thank you Sue!

Great House near some of the worlds best beaches
Sue was great to deal with and very responsive. House was large and layout was very functional and purpose built for the beach and pool. We had a comfortable stay and really appreciated the large pool, decks chairs and tables and outside layout. Love the area though road is a little rough and tumble and often was hard to find for even the folks who lived there. Nearby are fabulous beaches and barely any tourists. Minor points of improvement - blinds need urgent replacing and are from the 80s. Would be great if they stocked basics - eg olive oil, milk, bread, spices on arrival so there isn’t a mission to get food after a long days travel. Will hopefully be back.

A big piece of heaven
Tastefully decorated and well equipped, this villa is probably the best in the area. Away from the bars and closer to the beach. A big piece of heaven. Go there!

Family Holiday
We had a lovely relaxing 2 week family holiday, the photos do not do the villa justice, it was much more nicer than expected. The villa is in a great location on the island close to amenities and places to visit, and we felt safe at all times. Our children loved the pool, and the villa management team were always contactable to help if needed. Sue was also very helpful before we flew out.

Lovely villa in a great location. It had absolutely everything we needed and was very spacious and clean. The pool was wonderful also and the beautiful beach was just a short walk away. A fantastic holiday, we will certainly love to come back.
