Muchos ingleses/as siendo muy ingleses/as.

The food was to die for, amazing location, and zero waste
rooms were very hot, fans weren't on very often, charging sockets also didn't work even outside of the 'off' time

The location is in the middle of nature. The restaurant does a great job in serving a great variety of vegetarian dishes
The vibe was somehow strange. I didn't feel I was welcome from the moment I arrived. The reception personal made you feel they are annoyed with any questions you had, not customer oriented at all.
Also I was hoping to do some hikes, but was done with all trails in half a day. Even though I was in the middle of nature I felt I was hardly able to discover it.
The hostel usually offers one activity a day. The first day it was skipped because I was the only guest to sign up for. The second day the river level was too high to cross it. So in the end it felt more like prison than paradise.
Also it was hard to enjoy nature because 99%of their guests are British teens, half of whom are volunteers. They were more into partying and listening to Brit pop music than nature.
I haven't seen a manager being around during my whole stay, the place seemed to be operated by volunteers only.

Property location is beautiful. The meals are amazing and I am not vegeterian. Great staff and private beach is something you'd expect to pay so much for.
Very minor but AC would be good in the rooms, however they are going for a sustainable model so it is to be expected.
Maybe some more food options throughout the day would be great. The food quality is 10/10 but maybe some Empanadas or small bits you can order at the bar would be great for fat fu*ks like me :)
Still 10/10 experience and 100% reccomendation anyone and everyone to go

HIGHLY RECOMMEND, must stay. From start to finish the stay was faultless. If you want to disconnect from the the world and step inside a paradise off the usual backpacker route in Colombia this is the place to do it. The owners Stefan, Collette & Sam have created a little slice of paradise, with an off grid eco hostel in the Sierra Nevada mountains, family style delicious veg meals, cute animals and amazing people. 10/10 hospitality

Very special and loving place! it's all very eco and out in the middle of nowhere so be ready for using compost toilets and encountering a lot of different insects and some spiders

Absolutely magnificent place! This is a special one. Very remotely, but this is exactly what makes the charme of it. Such a perfect place for a few relaxed days, also integrated to indigeneous communities, very aware and trying to avoid garbage, they use solar energy, serve amazing veggie food and and and. Loved it 100%!

La Ponderosa is a very special place, 45 minutes motorbike into the jungle and then across a river a group of friends have built a fully sustainable eco hostel on a beautiful stretch of the buritaca river & beach. Delicious home cooked veggie food and drinks, bamboo rooms and stunning views. The perfect place to switch off.
They also run a party on the beach once a month (check dates on their IG) which was without a doubt the best party I’ve been to on my travels! Amazing music and atmosphere.
I will definitely be planning a trip back here! Thanks guys x
Wish I had longer to stay

Staying here has been my best experience in Colombia so far. I would recommend staying here for at least a week to fully wind down and enjoy the place. I was there during Xmas and the owners and volunteers worked their butts off to make it super special, it was my best Xmas ever! The food is AMAZING, my favourite food in South America so far. Because you are in this unique location, it is very easy to meet the other travelers. I have made my best travel friends at La Ponderosa. The atmosphere is very intimate, it almost feels like you're living in a commune! I really liked how the hostel area is well away from the bar area, so you can always find a quiet place. The river area and surroundings are absolutely magical. It's one of these places that you hope will never change :)
Altough they are all super amazing and lovely, there are a lot of volunteers and it can feel quite cliquey.

atmosphere, vibe, location, food is delicious (family style.. you eat what they serve: it’s delicious!), staff is helpful, hostel opened quite recently: they are up for feedback which I think is nice. big chance that if you book this place, you’ll extend.. it’s wonderful! And also; you get to meet Bruce, Frankie, Barbara, Manny and other really cute animals walking around the hostel. I also recommend doing the permaculture tour and the tour to the indigious village.
They are developing their hostel so not everything is as organised as some hostels are.. but they are relatively new and still in progress. every day they have new things/improvements ánd all ideas are welcome. so the few feedback points I would have, will be fixed in a short amount of time (I’m quite sure of that!).

I keep raving about this place to everyone as it’s the best place I’ve ever stayed. Awesome people, amazing secluded beach and river to swim in every day, delicious food and great bar.
You’re literally in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by amazing nature, but have everything you need in one place.
Plan to stay for a while because you’ll fall in love and won’t want to leave!

What a place they have. White sandy river beach with tropical rainforest and snowy peaks of Sierra Nevada in the background. Cacao plantation, lots of fruits, organic veggie garden and delicious food on the menu. Chilled vibes and wonderful people, definitely worth of visiting. We came for two days and stayed for a week.

Everything is so thoughtful: their zero waste ethos, the incredible attention to detail that goes into their permaculture designs, the support they show to community projects they’re part of, the inclusivity of making campesino neighbours, locals, backpackers and the indigenous feel super welcome together at theirs. Felt really inspired by my time there.
