We had a great time and a well situated hotel. It was a shame that the weekend we chose we had a storm and the Christmas market was cancelled. But that can’t be helped. Room was very cold but we told reception and they gave us a heater which was a great help. Would definitely book this hotel again

When we arrived at late evening the room was not prepared with the correct beds. The tv was broken ( fuse had been removed)
We booked breakfast for 9.30 but the table was not prepared. We were in the bar area due to the dog which was absolutely fine. However the cleaner continued to clean and hoover around us while eating breakfast.

Cold throughout the hotel and room. Mattress was worn out and uncomfortable. Staff worked hard to make our stay good, restaurant good.

Our stay was very disappointing. Having paid extra for a superior room it was anything but. Freezing cold on arrival. Everything the room was tired and wornout. The 3 old, radom unmatching chairs were theadbear with very little stuffing left. The coffee table was very bashed scratched and stained. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have slept in with a completely mismatched set of thin pillows. Dust you could write in on window cill and mould in the bathroom……
At breakfast we felt a £5 supplement (above the £24 already paid) for an egg muffin or avacado seemed steep. Having ordered full English breakfast, the bacon sausage and egg were good but we were given half a mushroom! Surely a whole one or even two wouldn’t have broken the bank, seemed miserly for no reason. We will not be back, shame as living locally we had always dreamed of one day staying at Alveston Manor.

Good position to access the town

Great hotel, friendly staff and clean rooms

Lovely hotel , but unfortunately the rooms let it down the duvet covers had stains on them… the mattress need replacements, we changed rooms and the same problem as before, housekeeping needs to get sorted, and mattress man needs to pay a visit. What a shame , the evening meal was delirious, the drinks were very expensive ,!!! service needs more staff training, breakfast help yourself good selection but it was only warm , I had a terrible night sleep,we were give 25% back .
But I would like it to have been better a lovely break away spoiled because maybe to compensate .with there attitude towards care and attention of there guest .sorry !!

A return visit to a good value hotel, with character and in a lovely setting, a short walk over the bridge into the town. The clean room was adequate but a little dated and sadly the bathroom needed some renovation - the wash basin and tap needed replacing. The staff were very helpful and efficient and overall we enjoyed our stay.

Very disappointed for the price they charge. The fridge in my room was missing which l needed for dog food.
The TV in my son’s room didn’t work.
Noisiest doors l have ever heard in a hotel, banging shut till gone three in the morning so you get woken up every time through the night.
Cold food and tiny portions.
Seven pound to park your car.
No Wi-Fi in room.
Dog friendly rooms which was a bonus. Iron and ironing board and hairdryer which is good.
Rusty bathroom fittings.
Definitely not worth what they charge.

Room was clean, bed huge and very comfortable. It was lovely and quiet even though there was a wedding on our 1st night.

Very good value and location

We stayed there one night. The staff were very friendly and the building had a lot of character. A few small negatives were having to pay extra for parking, no electric sockets near the bed side tables, no coffee machine (I have instant coffee) and the beer choice in the bar was quite old fashioned. However, everything else was great. Nice big pool. Really good location.

Stay was OK.
Few drinks and light dinner in the bar. The full (expensive) resturant menu was also in the bar, which was a little over the top. Something lighter would have been appropriate.
Breakfast was ok, not great. £4 for a small luke warm lattee was not impressive and the fruit selection on the buffett was sliced water melon and a mixed berry mix that can only be described as one of the sourest things on earth ever created by man. Pretty poor.

Location is excellent for Shakespeare theatre and town. Beware you will receive a last minute notice that to park in the hotel carpark it will cost you £7 per day as a guest EACH car. So if like me you share a room with a friend with their own car that's £14 a day. Breakfast is poor with additional cost for items other hotels give as standard. Buffet very limited. Room ok bedding and towels supplied. Lacked finishing touches e.g. paintwork not completed. Service lacked the warmth of being welcoming and aiming to please with the exception of the young lady in charge of the breakfast room who valiantly held it together despite wrong orders sent out! Did not partake of evening meal.
This hotel is punching above it's weight. Promises much but under delivers. £24 each for in room breakfast is aimed at hapless tourists from across the Pond.
Was going to comment to the receptionist but the couple in front of us did such a good hatchet job on their experience I didn't feel the need.

We chose this hotel for a visit for our 30th wedding anniversary. The pictures of the frontage of the hotel in all links we loojedcat looked stunning with beautiful grounds. Arrived early so registered car details. 7.00 a day parking or free for blue badge holders.
Came back and checked in and we were in 200 block. We were given directions to the rear of the hotel. We then found we were in a completely sererate block to the hotel in what can only be described as butlins holiday chalet style block and rooms. We had to walk across the garden to get to the main hotel as it wasnt even a part of if.
The key wouldnt work to open the blocks main door, so a trip back across the green to get it sorted.
The room was no better than a premier inn basic room, yet we paid 200.00 for this room for one night. That didnt even include breakfast.
The room was quite dated and overlooked the rear carpark.
At no point anywhere during the booking process or in the literature did it state there is a seperate room block. You are fully under the impression that you would be staying in the majestic looking main hotel.
So if youre considering a stay here id check with hotel before booking as we were SO disappointed. In fact my husband was furious. Staff were excellent but just said oh sorry when we mentioned it. Its false advertising and there booking information needs a serious update.

I have stayed at alveston many times. But this time was shocking. Bed sheets dirty. No soap items in bathroom. I was upset and angry. I paid over £100. I would like a refund or a free stay at the hotel as this was unacceptable. I ha e stayed many times and spent a fortune here. This was bad experience this time. I don't like making staff feel bad in front of other customers. I have also sent a letter to you. I am in Stratford this wed. Thur and also next week.
Many thanks. Matthew Hadley

Beautiful hotel, ideal for walking distance into Stratford.
Staff were wonderful, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and evening meal was delicious.
Our room was nice but felt a bit tired. Plenty of space. Beds were comfy. But, towel rail didnt warm up and aircon was noisy.

We had a lovely stay and would happily recommend it to others

Front desk service very poor, not welcoming and can barely manage the bare minimum. No shampoo in our "deluxe" suite, also only 1 bathrobe (2 of us). Had to collect them from reception (!) Didnt occur to them to have housekeeping deliver to our room.
Room itself very disappointing. Luxury suite tuened out to be a small room with 2 armchairs and a tv, a spare bedroom with single bed (not needed nor requested) bedroom and an en suite bathroom that was so tired it was close to unacceptable. Damp on ceiling, broken floor tiles, extractor fan not working.
Definitely not 4 star, hugely overpriced for what we got, in need of radical overhaul of rooms amd staff training.
Shout out to the lady in front of house at breakfast. Welcoming and highly professional. Should put her in charge of reception.
On check out wasnt asked if i enjoyed my stay, cant say i was surprised.
Take a look at the torn and threadbare Union Flag flying at the front of the hotel. Pretty much sums it up.

Room wasn’t ready on arrival, we were told to wait in the bar (barman was very miserable) and that someone would come and find us as soon as it was ready, didn’t happen! Finally got the keys around 4pm, dropped our bags and went to use the pool which was FREEZING, returned to the room to get ready for dinner and noticed it was filthy, blood on the side of the bed, chewing gum on the tap, hair all over the bath, dust on every surface, half the lights didn’t work, towels were old and frayed. Breakfast was unremarkable, very miserable looking and not particularly nice. We paid almost £300 for a suite, the hotel insulted us with a £30 refund and £7 back for parking! Unfortunately for them I book ALOT of hotels and was in fact staying to survey the hotel ahead of potentially booking the whole place for a huge VIP event next year, needless to say I will not be holding any events there!

Check in was okay, no concerns. Wasn’t aware of the £7 car parking charge, but probably me missing it on the booking, rather than anything else.
On arrival to room, the air con wasn’t working. We contacted reception and the receptionist went completely out of her way to make our stay better. We checked 2 other rooms, but all had issues with the air con. We ended up in a different room, but the heat really was oppressing. They did give us a second fan, £17.99 (?? not sure why this amount) in compensation and also a free breakfast.
The room in itself was a little dated and some general wear and tear, but really comfy bed and pillows.
Breakfast was buffet style English and continental. Overall was okay (great poached eggs) but sausages not the best.
The hotel and grounds were as expected.
Short stroll, about 5/10mins, into the town centre.
We did not use the swimming pool/spa facilities.
Overall we have stayed in much nicer hotels for similar money and due to the heat in the room, served for an unsettled night.

We liked the historic feel to the hotel, and the location is perfect.

I would like a walk in shower rather than a bath, easier to use and more environmentally conscious. I would also appreciate a lit makeup mirror by the shaver point as the mirror was to far over the sink and I need that for lenses and makeup

The exterior look was amazing however inside it was rather tired especially the carpets. I felt there was room for improvement for customer comfort. A lift to the bedrooms up-to-date air conditioning and wifi charging points in rooms. There was disabled parking but access to the reception was up steps again this could be addressed without affecting the appearance of the property
The breakfast was overcooked apart from the egg.

We had a lovely relaxed trip. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room. Excellent location for walking access to town. Wonderful tranquil area to visit, lots of choice for seeing a show, shopping, river activities. Will definitely be back.

Our rooom was quite small and fairly dark but it was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff were unfailingly cheerful and helpful. We'll stay here again!

Despite the coldness if certain cafes eg Cornish bakery. ..there is still some good places to visit.....eg Youne

More ‘motel’ than ‘manor’. Most of the accommodation is not in the Manor House but in a labyrinth of two-storey blocks that snake out behind the house. Their design aesthetic has more in common with 1970s council housing than a 4-star hotel. The decor is shabby and the fixtures are dated. The shower is over a bath and has no hand held unit. I waited an age for the hot water to get to our far reaches of the hotel (around 7 minutes, really). Reception staff provide only a lukewarm welcome as well. Definitely not 4 star, I’d say 3.5 at best.

Decent hotel. Room was a little dated and bathroom a bit tatty. Could do with a mini fridge too. Apart from tgat frienfly staff. Nice spa and pool. Lovely grounds. Bar prices a bit dear.

The building is beautiful and in a perfect location for a walk into Stratford or to the theatre. Parking is easy and convenient too. The staff at reception are very helpful. The atmosphere overall is lovely.
For me, the cost of the rooms was 'luxury' so I would have liked to have a mini-bar, perhaps, or a wider choice of hot drinks available in the room. What was there was much appreciated, however. From a previous visit, I know that water is available from a cooler, but this was not explained to me this time. My guest in a separate room had no remote control for the television.
3.0
First room given had no air con. A known problem but we were not informed at check-in. I was told to open a window - not great. Second room given the next day, the flush didn’t work. Bed was reasonably comfortable. You have to pay £7 a day for parking at the hotel. The only good thing about the hotel is the location for the centre of Stratford.
