Beautiful outside and outdated inside. Very small room with built in bathroom.garbage was not removed from the room during my stay. Front desk was open only front 2 to 6, very inconvenient to check in and out. Restaurant was open only for few days.

Small room and bathroom. Really tight for two people. Good location and great restaurant

If you're wanting a low budget hostel type accommodation with shared bathroom and bunkbeds, you may find this hotel acceptable. The view from the terrace is beautiful and the $12 breakfasts were good.

Not amazing. Not impressed with the stay.
It was expensive & definitely not worth it. We opted for private bathroom & it was smaller than a shoe closet, looked like it was a cut out from the room, definitely not the planned one.
Staff was super nice & best i have seen in my swiss vacation. They are very helpful &. I loved the breakfast. 12CHF if you book one day ahead, 15CHF on same morning.
Overall, keep your expectations low & enjoy views of the valley from Wengen

We would not recommend this hotel. Better to go to a hostel with shared shower and it will be cheaper. Our shower flooded and would not drain. The room smelled like pet urine, and it was not posted that this hotel allowed pets. One of our blankets did not cover the feet. The carpet was dirty. The restaurant was also more expensive than other areas.

Nicer location with a heart view.

Overall I loved Switzerland, and while this hotel offers an amazing and convenient location in Wengen just a couple minutes walk from the train station and numerous bars / restaurants, there are a couple things to keep in mind.
- My biggest reason for the low rating is the condition of the overall building. It was built in the early 1900s, and while the exterior is very charming, there is virtually zero noise insulation inside. My experience was that it didn’t matter what time I wanted to wake up, I was going to wake up whenever my upstairs neighbor decided to get up. Every single foot step leads to a loud wood crackling sound. If you’re a deep sleeper, then MAYBE you’ll be okay, but I found it maddening. I would highly recommend trying to secure a top floor room.
- When I arrived the shower drain was clogged. I initially reported the issue right away on my first day, but then 3 days went by with no solution. After I brought it up a 2nd time, it was fixed.
- The hotel does not have air conditioning, which this alone is fine and normal for the area, but when opening windows during summer, keep in mind there are no screens to help keep bees and other bugs out.
In summary if you’re on a budget, are a deep sleeper, and can get a top floor unit, the hotel is worth it. Otherwise, I would spend extra and stay somewhere else.

The restaurant in the hotel lobby had poor food quality and expensive

HIGHLY DISAPPOINTING STAY for the price we paid due to the lack of hospitality, outdated facilities, and poor service. Do yourself a favor by avoiding this place at any cost.
When we arrived at 1:30 PM, we knew check-in was at 2 PM, but the staff completely ignored us. Three staff members walked by without any greeting or eye contact. Instead of offering assistance, we were left waiting until a fellow guest helped us store our bags so we could explore the area.
Returning at 2 PM, I again waited at the reception, but the staff in the back ignored us until I called them over. Even then, they gestured they’d come in a few minutes. When the receptionist finally arrived, she didn’t greet us or apologize, and her checking her watch felt particularly rude.
There was no elevator—something we were warned about but still inconvenient. Worse, the room wasn’t ready when we entered. As we were settling in, a cleaning staff member barged in without knocking and left quickly without apologizing, slamming the door behind her.
The bathroom was cramped and outdated, making it uncomfortable to use, especially for larger people. No cleaning service or fresh towels were provided during our stay, and we returned both nights to find the same used towels still hanging.
The room locks were also old and awkward to use. Finally, at check-out, there was no goodbye or acknowledgment, just a request to leave the keys and a cold retreat to the back.

There was a patio outside. We had a room booked non-smoking, but that was a common patio people were smoking outside as soon as you go into your room you can feel it. It’s like a secondhand smoking inside the whole room. We decided not to stay in that room whole day.

The hotel is conveniently located near railway station and to edge of village centre. Hotel and room are looking a bit tired but clean and overall comfortable. Restaurant was great with nice staff and comparatively reasonably priced menu.

A great balance between comfort and value in the expensive resort of Wengen. Lovely view from our balcony!

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. They are very welcoming with our dog, and even the restaurant allowed her in, and provided her with a bowl of water. Although it’s quite dated in terms of decor, it’s quirky and unique, and great value for money (in Wengen). It’s in an amazing location, within really short walking distance to everything, and we’d stay again. Thanks for a fab stay.

The apartment was great. Would have liked to have some cups mugs and plates in the kitchen but we made due with all of the pots and pans that were available. Overall very good. We enjoyed our stay very much

The room and hotel were nice, by Swiss mountain lodge standards. And there is no place more beautiful than Lauterbrunnen and Wengen sits on the ridge just above the Lauterbrunnen valley. The family suite was large enough for all 4 of us and was comfortable, even without a fridge, A/C, and other amenities many hotels offer.
The only reason I am giving the property middling ratings is the way we were treated by the couple who are the hosts/owners of the hotel. Actually, my dealings with her were OK, but he treated me like I was a bother from my very first contact with him via e-mail.
We had a long day driving here and I noticed they required check-in prior to 6pm. I contacted them to let them know we would not make it by then and was rudely told that I would need to give them a specific ETA on the day of check-in. So, on that day I called to let them know we would be arriving around 8pm. With a very bothered tone I was told there would be no one here at that time. and that I would have to pay a fee to have someone there to check us in and upon arrival we were told again how inconvenient our arrival time was for them. Throughout our stay, anytime I had to ask a question of him I was treated like a nuisance. This man has no business being the the hospitality industry.
Many family lodges in Europe have limited times for staff to check you in, but every one has coded lockboxes outside or some other method of accommodating later arrivals, why haven't they figured this out?

Stayed two nights. Booked a 3 person room since that was the only room available. That was fine since we were only two staying in that room. Got a room on the top floor, room 406 to be precise. I’m 6ft tall (182cm) and the “low ceiling height” didn’t affect me, I could walk normally. But people that are a few inches taller should mind their head on the top floor. Two or three of the rooms on the top floor seemed to have lower ceiling heights since the doors to those rooms were even lower but I didn’t see inside those rooms. There was one single bed in my room and one bunk bed. The bunk bed was almost falling apart, hopefully the managers of the hotel will see this comment and check it out. The mattresses are ok but could benefit from replacing. But overall I found this a good hotel with great staff. The location is superb and very close to the train station. The neighbourhood is quiet and the restaurant at first floor is great. I recommend this place to stay at but it always comes down to your preference. If you prefer elevator access to every floor or bathroom in your room, this is not your hotel, but then you have to pay 3x more :)

This hotel is without elevator, which cause torturous experiences to get up and down from third floor. Expedia should highlight missing basic amenities in bold letters for customers to make better decisions.

This property is in a great location and is one of the most affordable hotels in the area. However it is very minimal but you get what you pay for. Friendly staff and service.

Great option for mountain lovers. Location is few steps away from main transportation system (cable car, train station). I loved everything: price and service absolute nothing to complain. Everything was good in room. You might have a continental breakfast and a la card dinner at the ground floor restaurant. Host is fabulous. Team is so kind and pleasant. Defenetly will back again .

Helpful and friendly staff, great breakfast. Shared bathroom (shower and toilet). The top floor is unsuitable for people over 6 feet, as the ceiling is low. The 3 bed room was very small and cramped.

Right on the main thoroughfare, with good mountain views. My wet towel was never changed during my three day stay, just rehung on the rail.

Nice place. Close walk

Unfriendly staff, small rooms, tiny bathroom, and an uncomfortable bed. Nothing to like about this place. It also does not have an elevator, making it difficult for the elderly and the physically challenged.

The gentleman that ran the breakfast buffet, was so wonderful. When we checked out of the Hotel, it was raining and we had a 2 hour wait before our train. He let us stay in the dining room for comfort and kept checking on us ….. mind you it was closed in the restaurant…. Offering us tea or coffee. So kind !!

Perfectly located hotel with a magnificent view. We stayed in Grindelwald last year and I loved Wengen more. Delicious food at their restaurant, super friendly staff, comfy rooms…everything was perfect.

It is a unique experience for me as I was staying at this alpine village for the first time. Quite as it can be and beautiful. Hotel’s character is worth the experience and price was unmatched, perfect value for money.

I was lucky to find this lovely hotel in a prime location within the Jungfrau region - at an affordable price (when all other hotels were charging much more).
My room was clean, cosy and comfortable. Wonderful staff, friendly and very helpful. I felt at home there.
The only downside was the thin walls. It was only really noticeable on my third eve/night. The place is absolutely great value for money despite this.

Absolutely wonderful! First time in Switzerland and couldn’t have stayed at a better place. Highly recommend!
