On arrival we was greeted by the owner, very friendly, the hotel was extremely dated and like we had stepped back in time. Our room was at the top, floors were uneven, room smelt musky, window straight open, no batteries in the remote for the tv, i was looking for another plug socket to charge my phone. Wish i never looked behind the bedside cabinet! The bathroom well.... the shower could do with a good clean with bleach and mould remover, the shower had not been cleaned after the last visitor! The bed was extremely old, i dread to think how old. If you are looking for comfort, then im sorry, this is not the place. Good location but just very outdated.

The facilities advertised in EXPEDIA website did not exist there. There is no restaurant, no bar, no room service, no parking, no cleaning, no fridge, ....
Everything was very old and poorly maintained. The room carpet was dark grey, while when one of the beds was moved accidentally, same carpet underneath it was pink! No fridge. cheap beds. Too little toiletries. Very small shower. The shower head was moving, would not stand still, so I had to hold it with one hand. The whole bathroom was humid with no window and only a small old fan that was not working properly. Old and thin doors. Old and small TV. The hotel was a little far from the Hastings attractions but that was not much of problem.

Overall a pleasant stay, although dated the room was comfortable and had fantastic sea view.

Limited facilities, and not very comfortable, but it served it's purpose as a bed for the night.

The owner was friendly and chatted a lot over check in. Which was slightly irritating as just wanted to check in and explore Hastings. He was elderly and slow so was patient with him. There was no explanation of facilities in hotel e.g. wifi, breakfast etc. Room was clean and comfortable. On check out there was no one at the reception so was unsure of procedure. Ended up seeing a member of staff and she told us to leave the keys on the counter. This was the only staff we encountered on our stay. But for one night was comfortable and clean.

We had a very pleasant 1 night stay at The Grand Hastings with a lovely sea view. Very peaceful and relaxing for us. Staff members and owner were incredibly welcoming and friendly. The bed was a little worn and springy however but we still really enjoyed our stay. We will definitely return when we next plan to be in East Sussex

Very basic, could do with new mattresses, bathroom had three doors! One that led straight onto the communal hallway, one was locked, and one door to the room.
The building has been repainted grey and no longer yellow - so bit confused when trying to find it. Parking - had to pay.
On the plus side it was clean and thank goodness for the sea view!

The gentleman who checked me in was lovely. The room was adequate. I'm sure this place was quite something in its day but it felt like it had not been updated in quite some time. The room had a lingering scent of damp, as did the lounge. The carpet in the room was worn and likely needed a deep cleaning (hence, the lingering scent). The location was fine, though my 'partial sea-view' room did not really have a sea view unless you count standing in the doorway to the en suite bathroom and look out the window at a severe angle.

The manager firstly put phone down on me when I was calling regarding where to park, he insisted I rind door bell instead of him popping his head out as unless there is parking outside you could have a long walk!!
Then the hotel exterior is now grey not yellow so I called to ensure this was the correct property and the manager spoke as if I should know this.. then we went in and the hallway is dated with a musty smell, I asked if rooms were like this and he said if I decided I did not want to stay that would be fine, so me and my 6 year old son were immediately put off.
We asked to view room before we checked in, the room was very small and just ok for 1 night but at top of hotel a lot of stairs to be carrying bags too.
Then the beds- literally like sleeping on cardboard. Terrible night sleep, noise from main road horrendous and the absolute worst was that we were to top room very high up to find the window did not have a child lock.. we were up and out of there as quick as possible after no sleep and the overflow on the loo also needed fixing.

This is a very basic place to stay, clean, friendly staff, but needs lots of updating, value for money but wouldn't stay again

It was okay. The beds were alright, the room was alright, nothing that makes you get excited to stay as you enter the room. Took a long time to just to sign in and get a key to the room. My security pin was asked for which it shouldn’t be as it’s prepaid and therefore no concern to the owner.

Hotelier very friendly and helpful. Accommodation was clean and appropriate room size for price; but dated and tired looking. Could do with new bed linen and towels.

Basic facilities but quite adequate for one night. Nice and clean with a friendly welcome.

Not quite what we expected. Older property that was very tight to move around. The room was smaller than all but one cruise ship cabin, same with the bathroom. On the plus side, Peter, the manager/owner (?) was very friendly, chatty and went out of his way to book a very nearby restaurant after we checked in. And it was excellent. We also had issues finding the property even thought we were using Apple Maps and an onboard GPS to guide us.

Got as far as reception, looked very drab. Ask where the parking was, told on the street, couldn't find a space anywhere, so came home.

Peter the owner was worse than basil at faulty towers. I have pictures of bed with a board underneath lumpy mattress. The bed side table was something out of the 60s and coming apart. Had to get dressed in the middle of the night as kept ringing the reception as no heating and the message said send a fax. When I was leaving with a recently broken hip and a scar the was leaking through the dressing. Peter decided to come into the lounge area and accused me of soiling his bed by waving sheet at me. never have i had such an awful time in a time i was in pain and ill. Travelodge treated me better.

The property is run down. Towels were really bad. Worst hotel i have stayed in my life.

Very welcoming and excellent support with any queries.
