The hotel is nice. Room was clean. Staff is friendly. Great location in downtown area. Close to many pubs and restaurants.
Unfortunately, entrance into the hotel was frustrating, as I was left in the pouring rain with nobody answering my phone call (you have to call when you arrive so a staff member can unlock the entrance to the hotel). The TV is the size of a computer desktop monitor, which makes it difficult to watch unless you’re sitting directly in front of it.
That said, I would stay again.

This is my second time staying here. The room was comfortable and the hotel is in a very convenient location. The room I stayed in had some minor, but unfinished damage repairs (unpainted drywall patches), which probably should have been completed before being available for use. Otherwise, I would stay again. Cheers.

Clean hotel with good location however our room had small shower, hot water mostly in the morning for shower, tv channels are very limited also we could hear people walking, flushing toilets and hear them talking but we had clean room with nice bed and pillows

The location is excellent. Walking distance to harbour, pubs, restaurants, shops and the metro overnight parking lot that is across the street.
The hotel is unique as it is located in an old building with narrow staircases, etc and the bedrooms which are a combination of old and modern, are very comfortable.

It was a lovely accomodation, really close to everything in St. John's. The street below can get a bit loud at night but having the a/c on we didn't notice it much.

Quiet, cozy stay in the downtown core.

A very nice historic hotel. Clean and comfortable in a old neighborhood

It was an old building so there was a window air conditioner which was fine, but it left gaps around the window and there was a lot of noise outside throughout the night. Cars, horns honking and people yelling at each other! All else was fine, there was no interaction with staff as it is a self check in and out.

Excellent location! Busy during the day but very quiet at night. Very comfortable bed, clean, clutter free.

The place looks rundown, we were a bit nervous. It is right over the bars and you have to park in parking garage across the street. They dont tell you that until the day before your stay. Room was fine but i would never go back there

The Duckworth is an excellent place to stay to do things in downtown St John's. We walked to everything we wanted to do except Quidi Vidi and we rode the bus for that.

Disappointing Experience - Inflexible Cancellation Policy
I'm extremely disappointed with the hotel's refusal to provide a refund or accommodate changes to my booking due to unforeseen circumstances. With the ferry cancellation caused by a hurricane, my trip was canceled just 2 days before arrival. Despite my efforts to request a partial refund or transfer my dates, the hotel rigidly adhered to their policy, leaving me with a $300 loss.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on the hotel's quality since I never got to check in. However, I wish they would consider exceptions for extreme weather conditions or transportation cancellations. A more flexible approach would have made a significant difference in this situation. As it stands, I'm left feeling frustrated and unreimbursed."

Nice little B&B. Great place.

There is no place to put shampoos or shower items, in the shower.

Very unclean stains on sheets and pillows. Dirty handprints on the walls and some sort of dried liquid running down the headboard. Cobwebs and spiders. Would never ever go back.

We had mistakenly booked (and paid for before arrival) 5 nights r/t one night. Once I noticed our error I tried to cancel it however I missed the cancellation & refund date by one day. On arrival I explained the situation to management hoping that might extend some grace and refund payment for the 4 unused nights however they declined to do that. To their credit they did rent one of our nights and gave us a small partial refund. For that we were grateful. Good service, comfortable room, great location in downtown St. John’s

It was so organized and completely hassle free. We booked it and received a text the day off with all the instructions and information we needed. We walked right in our room and left . And that being said if we needed a person there was a number to call. Would book here over and over !

Loved the self check-in and check-out process. Very clear instructions right after booking the room along with detailed information in the room.
The room is clean with everything thing you would need. It’s slightly in the smaller size and does seem cramped for 2 people.
The t.v channels were lacking as almost all channels required a subscription to watch anything. We resorted to our phones in the end
The location is ideal as it is conveniently located in town so we were able to walk onto Water St. and George St. Easily.
All in all, it’s a comfortable, budget friendly and , strategically located spot for any type of stay.

They could use some new curtins and lamp shades. The water damage on them made the room look dirty and dingy. I stayed 1 night, would stay longer the that.

The Duckworth is a beautiful historic building that needs some work done to bring it back to life. Our room had water damage to the walls.
The carpets on the stairs and in the hallways needed cleaning and there really isn’t any staff to assist with anything.

Very Comfortable bed in a spartan room. Wifi was not very good but overall a nice place in a great location.

We loved this property. The bathroom was spotless, the bed was so comfortable and it was extremely charming. The only downside was that the day we arrived, there was a lot of rain and there was a leak in the room and water was dripping into a bucket and along the window shade and ended up on the floor. So that was not great, but everything else was awesome.

It was in a good location to George Street and restaurants.
A bit noisy at night from the streets. (Friday Night)

We were assigned to a room with a shared bathroom & a tiny, inefficient window air conditioner. The temperature outside was over 30 degrees Celsius. We haven't stayed in a hotel where we had to share a bathroom in over 25 years. Not a good experience. If we had known ahead of time we would have cancelled.

Small room in old building. Close to downtown dining and shopping. Pub right outside noisy late. No free parking.

We thought the room was very clean and comfortable. It more than met our needs for the time we were there.

It was not immediately clear where the hotel was as it was simply a door (with a very small brass sign) in a building that looked a little run down. The room was clean and had all the necessary amenities for a simple stay..including a small fridge…but the view out the window was scummy and the window had Tavel tape used as some sort of weatherstripping. It was conveniently located close to George Street and the downtown nightlife although my room was quiet except for someone who dropped something, twice, on the hardwood floor upstairs sometime in the middle of the night. I would describe the hotel as a unique experience…in an older building but not unpleasant. Someone who doesn’t like old buildings with crooked floors and a spider in the tub in the morning might not like it, though.

The Duckwirth is one of my favorite places to stay when I visit St. John’s. It’s a very old property and that shows, but everything in the rooms are clean and well maintained. It’s attached to a restaurant and you can easily walk to most places downtown.

We never got a code for door until after we called the number on the door
