We paid $1700 for a luxury suite for only 1 night stay! We had 3 problems that at a price like this is not acceptable . We had a room with 2 floors and the shower was leaking and dripped like crazy and left a huge mess on the floor below all over the floor. The TV remote would not work so the front desk charged the remote and brought the remote back and when my kids went to bed the remote died again . They had no TV at night and in the morning . There was no TV in the one bedroom also which was bad. The one TV didn’t even have basic cable unless u punch in a log in and password which we is not have access to. Lastly in the middle of the night at 1AM in the room we had our smoke alarm go off and it said “FIRE , FIRE” and I jumped out of bed and ran downstairs in a panic to check on my young children in my sleep and almost fell down the stairs and hurt my ankle. It must have been a faulty battery or something because there was no issue . It took an all of us a few hours to get back to bed . Not good! The next day we all were exhausted. Not acceptable for $1700 per night hotel roll. Won’t be coming back for sure

Cozy bedroom which made my stay comfortable. Nice, easy going staff.

Comfortable room , friendly staff.

Staff was very friendly and engaging. Handled all of our needs wonderfully.

1 star quality for 5 stars price. 1000usd a night to lose your sleep, have lukewarm showers and old bathrooms that look like a motel’s.
Rooms are so tiny, you can hear everything from the street, the restaurant and the corridors. The young man at the reception is lovely but the new owner should be ashamed for charging such prices offering the standard of a two stars hotel. This in Europe would certainly not be allowed by the law, I can’t get my head around how Americans can accept these rip offs. Certainly won’t stay there again unless the place is substantially refurbished and modernised

Our only complaint is that our room was very loud as we were directly above the bar and there were very loud patrons until well past midnight. Otherwise the hotel is very pleasant.

For a hotel of this price and rating, I expect much better service. Only one or two of the employees seemed to care at all about being helpful.

Smelly mold

The chair in the room was stained and there were no robes in the room. For the amount of money we paid it was very disappointing.

We love the location and the ability to walk to town. The room was really not good. It was separated from the neighboring room by only a sliding door, that was not secured and through which one could easily hear and even see one's neighbors. There was zero privacy. There was a comedy show put on in the restaurant below and every word uttered by the comedian, every response from the audience could be heard in this room as clearly as if one were downstairs attending the show. We were asked about our stay before we left and we shared these views with the on site management, who were lovely and apologetic.

Will continue to come back. Love The Maidstone vibe, staff, and loveliness.

glad they are open but there was no one at the front desk so almost no customer service also no notice about the breakfast arrangements. Hope they get their customer service act together! also they didn’t answer the phone on Thursday (busy signal) ?

Overall good experience, FYI, restaurant/bar is closed during off season. :(

Hotel was very nice though limited restaurant/bar hours. Room was fabulous. I called the day prior to request early check in and was told I should be fine. Upon arriving the staff informed us the central booking phone number provided with our reservation doesn’t know what they are saying and that they aren’t in the actual hotel. It was a frustrating start but ultimately the staff was helpful and the room + location was great!

Staff congregate in reception and store boxes; completely ruining vibe of hotel. Was sad to see staff doing pull-ups on main doorway of the hotel with zero regard for guests.

Good location
Bad staircase for heavy bags.

I had a do not disturb and they still went in the room and half cleaned. I then noticed when I returned my Tom Ford sunglasses were missing. When I spoke to someone at the desk. I was clear that I thought they were wrapped in the sheets when they were changed. They were completely unhelpful and insisted nobody stole anything. I never accused anyone of stealing, but the customer service was terrible. I was completely thrown by the way they handled it and the manager has not reached out to me.
This is also very close to a busy road and you hear the traffic all day and night.

Very pleasant and tasteful hotel - rooms could use a bit of updating, but overall very nice experience.

What could be a charmingly eclectic bed and breakfast is ruined by disinterested staff, nonexistent amenities and a general air of “Elvis has left the building”.
Had it not been so expensive, I would have happily chalked it up to an off weekend, but the evidence suggested it wasn’t a one time thing.
Breakfast was stale, the grounds badly in need of repair, and the bathrooms almost roadside worthy. Threadbare towels, non-draining bathtub and giant pump soap dispensers.
The closet had 2 clothes hangers that had clearly been left by previous guests.
It is also worth noting that the restaurant is not affiliated with the hotel so signing privileges are not allowed.
We had to request housekeeping after 2 days despite being out of the room all day.
I feel as though a fledgling interior designer wanted to design a hotel without having ever stayed a a hotel.
Previous responses to reviews cite staff shortages, but all we saw were staff lounging in various areas of the hotel.
There are many choices in East Hampton. For the price, this is not worth it.

The Maidstone is in the historic, shopping and beach area of East Hampton so the location cannot be beat. However, the old building is in need of better upkeep (for example, there was no hot water for my 2- day stay). Staff was unreachable at times and unapologetic.

Perfect stay for a work trip. Would come back for pleasure - so charming.

Charming property with a lot of character, but needs a bit of upkeep. The only objectionable issue was the temperature control in our room. It was a warmer April night, and the AC wasn't on yet (I assume). The wall unit in the room seemed to only do heat, and I couldn't even get the fan on it to run (seemed broken?). The windows were missing screens, so we couldn't really leave those open either- that's a super easy fix that is definitely needed.Beyond that, just a mixed bag of other small fixes that would quickly spruce up the property. There were a few places where the trim was badly damaged and needed to be replaced... a couple of tiles were loose on the bathroom floor... the bathroom fixtures probably need replacing (especially the shower head). And overall, the outside probably needs a good coat of paint! The property itself, including the garden, is really nice. The location on main street is also super convenient.I hope they make these updates and would look forward to staying there again.

It’s such a wonderful Inn. It’s the best in the Hamptons. It was such a perfect 3 days

The place was very clean and in a great location, it was right across a very cute church with great dining around. The only disappointment was the size of the bathroom. Another thing is they allow dogs on the property and we heard one barking for a few hours when we were trying to sleep. That was the biggest disappointment.

Nice breakfast buffet and stylish ground floor, hot water wasn’t in demand, desk chair should be more comfortable, refrigerator didn’t work. Cozy bed and tub, very comfortable, delightful staff

Room was extremely small but very pretty Overall the hotel was very nicely decorated but the staircase up to the room was small and seemingly dangerous because the steps were so narrow

One of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. The large soaking tub was a nice amenity as well. We will definitely come back.

It was nice. The hotel was super cute and very unique. The outdoor space is nice. The breakfast was nice. The drinks were expensive. It was nice that it was walking distance from the downtown area.
