After two nights, I was so sad to leave at the end of my stay and wished I had booked at least one more night. I hope to return soon!

Overall very nice stay , very beautiful garden .
We stayed 45years ago . One thing we didn’t like about is Japanese Breakfast and European breakfast were served in a different room so , there are no flexibility for choice. We had to choose one or the other before you go . And like set of bento box . Never experienced before .

This is a very luxurious hotel with a nice onsen. Beautiful gardens and incredible view of Mt Fuji if you are on the garden side which I think on the rooms are facing the garden and lake. Nice paths through the trees to the shrine and “downtown” area but don’t plan a run, it’s made of cobblestone type bricks so your ankles would suffer. Shuttle to/from downtown every 20 minutes if you don’t want to walk.

Hotel was excellent. I was shocked to find I had booked for 1 Adult and was asked to pay a supplement for my wife. This was A$495 for the 3 nights.
This was a 2 week trip will all rooms booked on Hotels.com.
This is the first time HOTELS.com had a 1 person room...
not the fault of Hotel de Yama but annoying and expensive

The service is good n the staff is friendly. We would like to visit them again in other time if possible. The only thing is the menu which has been fixed without any flexibility based on customer’s need.

The hotel is nice and on the higher end. The grounds are magnificent and the view to the lake is wonderful. In a nice day (which we had) you can see Fuji mountain clearly from the terrace. The only downsides were the bar with a bit of a gloomy vibe and a lack of a snack shop (as there is nothing open in the evening within walking distance from the hotel). Overall a great stay and I hope to return there in the future.

For such a big hotel it's shocking they don't have any laundry service. Also the price is a bit high for the age and condition of the hotel.

They are quite generous with their rebates offer! Very good deal

Beautiful and immaculate gardens. Beautiful views of Mount Fuji and the lake. Excellent location, breakfast, and shuttle service. Did not give perfect score because there is only public bath option available; and, you must have a reservation to eat dinner at the Japanese restaurant and that was not communicated to me at check-in. There is however the option for room service to order a Japanese meal at a reasonable price.
4.5
Nice atmosphere. Onsen relaxing. Could offer breakfast alternatives and coffee/croissant in the morning instead of japanese breakfast (delicious) only

What a magical place! It's straight out of a fairy tale!! I would love to visit again. Such comfortable rooms, beautiful views of Mt. Fufi and Lake Ashi, and lovely restaurants. The onsen is the icing on the cake. Staff are super friendly and efficient as well. Breakfast is also top class!

Very nice and quiet place

Very close to the lake and sightseeing cruise as well as the shrine.

Beautiful location next to Lake Ashi with a Mount Fuji view on clear days. Convenient with free shuttle bus from Motohakone (they even picked us up after hours upon request). Nice onsen with both inside and outside baths. The staff were surprisingly good at English and very helpful. Good service in the restaurant, both for breakfast and dinner. Lovely garden to walk around.
However, the hotel is very outdated with an old smelly carpet, lumpy beds and pillows. It needs a renovation.

The hotel was fantastic! It had a great view, and was convenient (for Hakone) to bus lines. The onsen was nice. Th efood was great, and the stff was very helpful. There are busses that stop rigth at the hotel's front door, and a free hotel shuttle to a nearby buss connection point

I love this hotel. My family stays at this hotel when we visit Hakone for the past fifty years. They provide excellent services, clean rooms, best restaurants, and beautiful garden with Ashiko Lake.
4.5
We stayed at a wrong time. Not as much flowers as expected but the meals were very good beyond expectations. The staffs also very helpful and courteous. Good location with regular shuttle bus and just 10 minutes walk to Hakone Shrine Tori. Strongly recommended.
4.5
Old fashioned hotel by Lake Ashi, very friendly staff and fantastic Japanese style breakfast and dinner! Also very walkable to the Heiwa Torii by the water. Would love to return again!
4.5
Excellente service, cleanliness and the views of Mount Fuji were fantastic. Much better from the hotel than the five lakes tour we did!
There is a shuttle service that goes from the port to the hotel every 20 minutes which stops at 5pm. It meant we had to walk 15 minutes in the dark to the hotel with our luggage because we couldn't work out where to get a taxi from. This was dangerous and the hotel really should have some kind of warning about this for visitors.
4.5
Wonderful hotel and amazing staff. We had a late check in and the kind staff delivered a multi course Japanese meal to us at 8:30. Both restaurants were so impressive. The location is great, right above the shrine. Do wish we could have understood a little more about the buses but had it figured out by the second day. The weather wasn’t great when we were there but so happy we stayed at this hotel.
4.5
Overall the hotel is clean and comfortable except for an unpleasant odour in the bathroom. The hotel's location is peaceful and quiet, and the view is nice when the weather is good.

I love everything about it, just the shower head which felt like needles. Can consider changing and it will be perfect. :)

Food is very good, and environment is wonderful. It is worth to come back again.

Overall, very pleasant experience. Lobby, check-in process, restaurants, friendly staff, onsen, lake view, Fujisan view from the garden, all good. But the room cleaning wasn't properly done. One day, I discovered some dark-colored liquid on the toilet seat when I got back. And the door-stopper was left right next to the vase.
4.5
Beautiful garden, silent and spacious room, nice air bath! Hotel is very clean. Definitely would like to come back.

We went to the Odakyu Hakone Lake Hotel and that we booked that one but once we checked in and found out we went to the wrong hotel. The front desk clerk was super nice. He helped us to call our hotel but they didn’t come to put us up at all. And he called few taxi companies but no one was available. Then Odakyu manager told him to drive us to our hotel.

The hotel is a bit dated however the Onsen is very nice with an indoor and outdoor section. I did not get a chance to walk the grounds nor see Mount Fuji due to cloud, but that would have enhanced the stay.

The location and views - spectacular! Was very lucky to get very clear views of Mt Fuji on my first full day there. I also booked in for a spa session and while expensive, was worth every cent. The staff of the hotel were extremely professional, friendly and efficient and spoke adequate English.
The rooms were very spacious, however being an old hotel, the walls are not very soundproofed and on my second/last night I was able to hear the people in the room next door very profoundly. While this is by no means the hotel's fault, I think it is worth mentioning. I ate my two breakfasts and a dinner at the French restaurant there and cannot fault the staff for their professionalism of service. The free shuttle from the town centre (Motohakone) to the hotel is a particular plus - not that the distance to walk is far but with luggage, in the dark or bad weather it is hugely convenient! Would have been nice if there was free bottled water in the room though. Would stay here again.

Pictures misleading, the gardens weren't colorful at all, the hotel was super run down though it was charming. Way overpriced and we were charged a tax for hot spring even though we didn't use them. The breakfast was also disappointing. Also, don't expect a Mt. Fuji view.

Attentive helpful staff. Amazing fine dining experience

Wonderful hotel. But would like a casual restaurant for eating ie pasta or pizza or just a salad

Great location to see Mt Fuji, 15 minutes walk from the bus station, but there is a free shuttle service every 20 minutes. Big rooms, large bathrooms, unusual find in Japan, but the overall condition it's a bit tired.
