A very pretty hotel in a quiet location near the main square. Lucy and Wendy were really friendly and helpful. The restaurant was fantastic, great quality for a very reasonable price. Would definitely stay here again.

Doña Esther was lovely. I requested a quiet room and had a great night’s sleep. The bed was comfy and, although the weather was a bit chilly in the evening, they provided a thick extra blanket for the bed, so I was plenty warm enough to sleep.
The shower had lots of lovely warm water and internet was reliable. Even better, the on-site restaurant was brilliant. Breakfast was lovely but the evening meal even better. Really delicious food. I would definitely stay again.

Great staff, very helpful with check in process and helping with arranging a taxi driver to take us on 4 hour adventure of places around town we would never have found on our own. The restaurant serves wonderful meals. Breakfast was one of the best I've ever had in Ecuador as an included breakfast. The rooms facing the street can be a little noise, but we were so tired it didn't really bother us. The terrace was great for late afternoon relaxing and visiting.

This place is a true hidden gem. It has a beautiful courtyard, delicious food, and wonderful staff. The rooms are very clean and have antique locks and keys. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was nice and hot. The restaurant has a brick oven and great food. I will definitely return.

Hostal Dona Esther is in an excellent location for a stay in Otavalo. Though close to the activity, the courtyard creates a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. The rooftop terrace is nice for views and hanging out. There is a covered section in case its raining. Lucy and all the staff were excellent, attentive, helpful with all things. The included breakfast allowed for many options and was ample and delicious. Dinner is one of the best in Otavalo. Rooms are smallish, but adequate, hot water plentiful, daily service. Purified water is available. Wonderful place, all you need.

Cute hotel! Restaurant was great! We had trouble locating the hotel and had to ask local business, but the pin drop did take us as close as could be. Not good signage when it’s dark out.

Very small hotel but nice location. The only complaint we had was there was a dog that barked almost all night and kept us awake! It’s quite open aired so we heard every noise.

This place is right in the middle of the town, walking distance to the famous Saturday market, close to restaurants, very nice and helpful staff, the room is basic nothing fancy but very clean and there’s hot water, very good breakfast. I highly recommend this place especially for mid budget.

Property is mostly charming and the staff is fantastic-Lucy, Vladamir and the rest were great. Property is a little downtrodden however and we felt quite expensive for Ecuador. Parking costs $4 per day but they charge extra for additional hours. Cleanliness could be improved but not bad overall. Food is good especially pizza and breakfast. Location is great right next to the market. We ended up paying about $50 per night with the parking added in. Should be no more than $35

A lovely colonial-style building with rooms around a courtyard in a central location just a few blocks away from Plaza de los Ponchos. Some rooms face the street, which offer a window with a view of the street, but are noisier than the interior rooms. The in-house restaurant is excellent with a variety of dishes for most any taste including delicious thin-crust pizzas cooked in a wood-fired oven. The breakfast is excellent and includes tasty coffee or a variety of teas. Filtered water awaits you in your room when you arrive, so there is no need to run out to fill your water bottle after a long day. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice clean rooms. This was my fourth stay in four years. I keep going back since it's one of the nicest places to stay in Otavalo (I've also stayed at two other places in Otavalo, but now this is my favorite).

This is a three star hotel. I like some three star hotels because of their character, and this is one of them. The building is three stories...no elevator (we are in Otavalo) with the rooms set around a patio and fern wall. The rooms were absolutely clean, and comfortable. Ask for a room off the street side, especially if you are a light sleeper, or it is the weekend. Breakfast was excellent, but the kindness, courtesy and consideration shown to all guests is what sets Dona Esther apart. The staff will do virtually anything to accomodate you. One of our small group left his shades at the hotel upon checkout, and the staff had them taken to our hotel in Quito where they arrived the evening before our flight home. Just basic kindness. If you don't need or like the Ritz or the chain hotels, and prefer a gem of a property and staff, try this place. I forgot to mention that the top floor is a patio where you can enjoy the sun setting on Otavalo. Lovely!

Nice location near plaza but quiet. 3-4 blocks from shopping Plaza del Ponchos. Old home but extremely clean and comfortable. I had single room, double bed with private bath and shower, all quite good. Staff helpful. Attached restaurant is excellent!! Ate there for all three meals. Good value!
