Wonderful stay!
Lovely room with a cool view.
Amazing staff, especially Jaelyn at the front desk and Jon who was such a friendly presence in the hotel.
The hotel is wonderfully situated in the middle of beautiful Oakland.
Five stars!

This is a great location to stay for a Pitt visit. Very friendly staff all around and a clean and modern room. Everything was comfortable as expected.

All of the staff were very personable and happy to help however they could! Our room was beautiful and very clean! I will definitely be staying again!

It is the best hotel in the area.

Excellent stay; loves the room and the hotels’ location. Will definitely stay again!

Beautiful hotel. Large comfortable bed and room. My refrigerator did not work, but I didn’t intend on using it anyhow. I think there should be a wider variety of foods at the restaurant. Other than that, a great stay!

Too expensive for the value offered. Please put regular coffee in the rooms!

The front desk employee, I’m sorry I forgot her name, was very helpful. She was polite and professional and answered all my questions. She went above and beyond to give me tips about the area and and ways to save money.
The staff overall were fantastic.

This hotel exceeded all my expectations! The staff were incredibly friendly, and the service was prompt and efficient. The food was fantastic, leaving nothing to be desired. They truly make visitors from Pitt and new students feel welcomed. Additionally, the proximity to the quad and the University of Pittsburgh is the perfect bonus! Highly recommend!

Nice property. It obviously gets a lot of traffic with obvious signs of wear and tear on some of the furniture in the common areas. In our room, there was a small leak from the cold water handle at the sink and the seal on the shower door was falling off. Beds were comfortable and the room was nicely appointed overall.

Beautiful hotel but some staff members had a terrible attitude.

We booked(made a reservation) for the oaklander and just before check in we received an email that our reservation was canceled! Received a call and they stated that they didnt have enough rooms to accomodate. What is the point of making a reservation?! So then the person on the phone found us a room at the red roof inn (mcknight rd, pittsburgh) which we were told it would be comparable to the oaklander. It was not. We will not be staying at the oaklander or red roof inn again.

Location was perfect - there to check out CMU and Pitt, see a Pirates game, site and visit Pittsburgh fries. Clean, well designed, outstanding staff. We would have had dinner or a beverage on the top floor, but only stayed for one night.

After 1st night, I would have given this hotel 5 stars, but I am disappointed in how they handled (or didn’t handle) a power outage. Though the power outage was not their fault, there was virtually no attempt to communicate with us, even to simply explain that it was a city-wide issue, out of their control. I receive text after text in terms of upgrading and paying more for additions, but there can’t be one text to explain the power outage and how it was affecting guests, along with maybe some suggestions on where to find air conditioning and places to charge our electronics? I felt isolated and clueless. I tried the operator and no one answered until I tried many more times. I went up to the front desk and they said there is no power and didn’t know when it would be back on. I’m in a city unfamiliar to me and couldn’t even track the electric company on my own. We slept with no a/c, I couldn’t use my cpap machine, so I barely slept. I woke up exhausted, and while everyone was helpful upon checking out, it felt odd that no one mentioned the outage, and simply apologize for the inconvenience. Even if not hotel’s fault, this is a 4-5 star hotel, and it is just kind and professional to check in on the guests. Even with mass email. Unless I brought it up, no one mentioned it. My problem wasn’t that they couldn’t fix the outage more quickly (it was over 12 hours), it was that they pretended it wasn’t happening. And prior to that, the staff everywhere was EXCELLENT!

Nice modern design, spacious room and friendly staff at reception and valet. We were disappointed that there was no on-premises coffee shop open during our visit, only breakfast service at the hotel restaurant/bar. At night, the restaurant/bar was fully taken by events both Saturday and Sunday nights, so no place to grab a nightcap (or food). Supposed a very limited menu was available for room delivery via a QR code, but the options weren’t appealing and there were no in-room snacks.

Great hotel for parents if you visiting CMU

What a lovely hotel with upscale amenities in the room and in the lodging. The valet staff and bellman are above par and I am in Pittsburgh a lot. The bar staff and restaurant staff should be commended as it was an extremely busy weekend with graduations, art event and other parties. The place where they are lacking MAJORILY is getting in contact with anyone. No one answers the phones. No one. The front desk staff are not nice at all. They lack the professional and upscale demeanor the rest of the hotel has. They seem to be bothered by anyone coming to them to ask any type of question. The front desk area could utilize a person strictly to answer questions and offer some kindness. When checking in, the girl immediately snapped at me that I could not check in without knowing that I made my reservation for the day before and was actually late. I tried to call on numerous occasions, sent several emails, etc. and this was never noticed. My guess that the front staff/management are lacking in this area tremendously. However, I would stay again as the hotel is lovely, the rest of the staff is great and the room was fantastic.

Terrific staff from valet to front desk to restaurant. Super helpful and pleasant!

Suspicious house keeping activity.
$750/night is ridiculous for mediocre hotel.
Lobby on the 10th floor next to a noisy restaurant creates chaos.

Great place. Nice atmosphere and close to the university.

My son and I drove to Pittsburgh from Philadelphia for an accepted student even at U Pitt. The Oaklander couldn't possibly be better located. The front desk and valet staff were incredibly helpful. The lobby bar on the top floor had a great vibe and good drinks. The room was spacious and well appointed.

Lovely hotel - room was spotless and beds were sup comfy, friendly staff, and great food.
6.0
Good: Quiet, convenient location, nice view, suite furniture layout and overall design.
Bad: Very hard mattress. Overall cleanliness sub-par for a 4-star hotel, specifically in the bathroom. Active mold in the shower grout, hair and debris on the floors and buildup in the corners, dust buildup, hair in clean towels, etc. It is almost as though it has not been thoroughly cleaned in years, and not adequately cleaned between guest stays.
10.0
Great place to stay. Right on Pitt campus, easy walk to any nearby buildings. Plenty of places to get food or a drink.
8.0
I would have liked it if I had a view from my window.

The staff were truly all lovely and accommodating.
