Room was clean, staff were friendly, food was decent. My supply of coffee was topped up with extra sachets when the staff saw that I'd bought my own jar of coffee after I ran out.
The atmosphere of the hotel is pleasant and cosy.
The hotel is a short walk from the town centre, which makes it cheaper than more central places - but if you can't stand a five-minute walk, what are you doing in Betws-y-Coed? :)

Love staying here. Light single room not too small. Staff always friendly. Lovely area for walking.

A beautiful, spacious hotel, with large bedrooms and pleasant views front and back. Situated in the centre of Betws-Y-Coed and within a short 5 minute walk to the train station. Dog friendly with water and treats and dedicated bedrooms for dog families. We found that all the staff here were so friendly and helpful, going the extra mile with any request we had. In particular, James, who gave us a free lift to and from Zip World Fforest as pure car was blocked in by a cherry picker in the small car park! They do a really tasty jacket potato with tuna mayonnaise and side salad. It was hot, quality food and a large portion too! And reasonably priced for hotel food. Good selection of draft drinks. If I could change a couple of things, I would ask for help next time in taking luggage to the 3rd floor as there is no lift. I also think the wine is a bit cheap tasting. Other than these minor gripes, It’s a fabulous hotel. The staff are excellent. Faultless!

Lovely spot, parking a bit tricky as there was some work ongoing which took up quite a bit of space in the tiny lot. Staff very friendly. Nice food in the restaurant.

Excellent hotel and great value for the price. The single room was a bit small, but overall nice and tidy. The hotel itself was very nice, including the restaurant/bar. Great location, and I would stay again!

Nothing fancy. A bit warn down and quality of food also medium. The place is a bit under staffed, but they are super friendly, helpfull and service minded.

This was such a beautiful property, you'll feel like you're living in a castle! Although it had a restaurant inside, we walked over to the other multiple choices just outside, wonderful pizza bar and other kinds of options outside. Street parking was easy to find. It's right next to the Betwys y coed, visitor center for any information to the Snowdonia national Park. Had one of the most beautiful waterfall/stream park path just a walking distance from there.

Used to stay here many years ago for the fishing, alas, no more fishing, but the hotel is unrecognisable now.
It’s absolutely wonderful

Arrived late night , the guy in the lobby arranged the check in and told us that the breakfast is included in the price as I found the price for 1 night is pretty high , while checking out I had to pay the meal after 15 minutes argument.
The breakfast was mainly English and limited
The room was very small but clean

Very very bad service, the staff is zero helpful. Lot of talking not saying anything. There is a difference between what you want to do and what you can do for a guest.

Room was lovely, the bed was comfortable, the staff where really friendly. Also the Bar food was very tasty. one small improvement would be blackout blinds as we stayed at the front and the curtains just about closed and The Exterior lights kept our room quiet light even at 3am.

Restaurant was very good. Some of the common areas were looking a little worn. The room was clean and up to date. Parking was challenging as there was not enough in the hotel lot and we had to pay to park in a nearby lot for the day and find street parking overnight

A lovely place to stay for a group of 3 enjoying the local hills, forests and lakes

Nicer than 3* - great value for money, nice food and reasonable prices - didn’t bring my dogs this time but was noticeably dog friendly so I would bring them another time.
We arrived very early and we couldn’t check in early but could leave the car for free and explore.
Mum loved her £12 breakfast that was both hot and continental and could go back for fruit and toast and cereal as many times as you wanted - tea coffee and juices all good.
Comfy beds and great night sleep in classic twin on top floor - front view over the high street and nice garden / field with hills in the distance, very quiet at night and we both slept very well. Nice hot shower at 9am, even got good WiFi signal in the loft. Room spacious and looked recently updated with nice decor and modern shower room.
The lady in the restaurant worked particularly hard in the evening (didn’t get her name) and although alone and busy she kept food moving and bills paid and tables cleared in excellent time and even chased a customer up the high street with some lost property - dogs were not allowed in the restaurant which I overheard a customer complain about but the bar food was very good and plenty of dog friendly tables and seating options inside and out with patio heaters. In the restaurant you can also ask for the bar food menu so get to choose from both which was good - especially for me as there’s a lot I can’t eat and didn’t struggle from either menu.
I would definitely return, thank you

Lovely property in the heart of Betwys-y-Coed. Really easy walk to everything in the town and accessible trails nearby. Super friendly staff and great menu options both in the bar and at their on-site restaurant.

Beautiful location. Room size was fantastic. Because the room was so large a king size bed would have been perfect. The four poster bed is lovely to look at, but not very practical. My husband is 6ft 2 and found the length of the bed difficult, as his feet were unable to hang off the bed due to the bed frame. The restaurant did transfer a lot of noise until 10pm each night. Generally we had a really good stay and would recommend it.

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location within the village. Staff very friendly, hotel very clean. Hotel bars, communal areas very nice and updated, only thing to expect is bedroom and bathroom slightly dated, but a minor issue overall and all very clean with a comfy bed! Thank you, wonderful stay

We booked this hotel fairly last minute. We needed a family room with space for our two dogs and I’ll be honest we weren’t expecting too much but this hotel was absolutely perfect. Great sized room with everything we needed, comfortable beds, clean, brilliant location, lovely breakfast and helpful staff.
It’s not the ritz but it ticked all our boxes. We would 100% stay again and recommend.

Helpful staff and perfect central location with parking and EV charger. Faster Ev chargers available in B Ffestiniog a few miles away but good to have on site.

I had the pleasure to stay here at the Gwydyr Hotel as part of my 5 day motorcycling tour of Wales.
I was warmly welcomed at reception, after a very wet ride to the hotel.
My room was more than suitable for my needs and was clean.
I decided to eat at the hotel, which was the right decision to have made. The food was exceptionally presented and had bags of flavour.
The overall cost for my stay, food and drinks was expensive, but this was to be expected for an establishment as the Gwydyr Hotel.

We had a wonderful evening. We spent the evening outside having some drinks, dinner, and then had a great walk around town.
The hotel is perfectly located to enjoy this beautiful town.
Our room had been recently renovated and was very comfortable with a nice view.
In the morning we had a Welsh breakfast. Thank you for your hospitality!

Beautiful hotel in the heart of Betws-y-Coed! Super easy and walkable to major attractions in the small town and the bus stops are extremely convenient! No AC, but a fan was provided and it wasn’t too hot—thank goodness! Great bathroom and big room for 3 friends.

Betws-y-coed has been one of our favourite weekend trip locations for years. It was our first time in the Gwydyr and we really liked it! Really central location and good hotel facilities.

From the moment we arrived we were incredibly impressed by the enthusiasm of all the team. Nothing was too much trouble and to see the hotel so successful in what is a hugely challenging time for the hospitality industry we think is a testament to the service and facilities provided by the hotel. The refurbishment that the hotel has undergone has been done to a very high standard with great focus on detail and maintaining the grandeur of the building. All food served was of excellent quality with a great range of beers, spirits and wines etc at very competitive prices. Gwydyr will certainly be our first choice if we are in the area again and we will be passing details on to friends and family if they are looking for a venue. Good to know it is a dog friendly hotel as well.
