About this apartment rental
This awesome 2 bedroom + condo is located downtown just as you enter the Newport's 5th Ward neighborhood! Step out of your front door to the popular Thames Street where you neighbor cafes and local businesses plus King Park - great for kids, runs, or access to the harbor. This old Thames storefront has a great open-concept living space with full kitchen, dining, lounging, and entertainment center. Just down the hall, there are two bedrooms with queen beds plus a bonus office with full size pullout sofa, great for kids or parties spreading out a bit. Each room is outfitted with a smart TV, new comfortable beds, fans, and AC. Enjoy a mixed selection of pillows throughout the condo to suit all types. The unit has a private entrance with spacious mudroom and access to the small private patio. Cozy outdoor seating with night lighting, we just ask that groups are kept small and voices/music low after 10:00pm. The kitchen is fully stocked to dine in and we are close by to several markets. PARKING off-street is NOT PROVIDED, however, we are located in one of the few areas that offer non-resident street parking where it is easier for visitors to find free places to park. Often times, you will find parking just out front, otherwise there is street parking one block away. We recommend walking, biking, or pedi-cabbing (Uber is also available) to experience Newport as much as possible!

We loved this rental. Everything was as expected, we stayed for 8 days here. It’s a great location towards the end on Thames, close to the action but far enough down so that it was reasonably quiet. While it didn’t have a parking spot, we found parking within a block on Thames everyday. Our limited interaction with the host was always pleasant and she responded very quickly.
We loved everything about this location, and will definitely rent again!

Doesn’t get much better. Super close to all, mostly quiet; parking nearby even without a designated spot. Place itself is has all the needs for a great stay steps away from the Newport experience. Comfort, Cozy. Modern, would stay again.

I booked this rental for our family with my 92 year old mother in mind. I knew there were stairs at the entry but didn’t realize there were small awkward stairs going down to the bedrooms and one bathroom. My mom ended up not going so it was okay. Day one there was a lightbulb that needed replaced in a bathroom. Luckily there was a spare under the sink and we replaced it. Unfortunately a few days later the other bulb went out along with the ceiling fixture in the other bathroom. We reported everything to the property manager and she promptly fixed it with a motion light. Imagine taking a shower behind the curtain with a motion light…it is challenging. Our last day we ran out of toilet paper. There was also a large tear in one of the fitted sheets which I also reported. Our stay was okay but would never stay there again.

I’ve been using VRBO for condo/house rentals but this place was the best ever. It deserves a 10+ rating! Best location in walking distance to everything, The condo was immaculate and beyond equipped with all your needs (even for the doggie). Communication with owner was EZPZ. Loved the A/C and ceiling fans in each room. The outside sitting area was perfect to relax or enjoy cocktails. I can’t wait to return again. It’s my new summer getaway place after spending 35 years in the Hamptons.

This house was everything our group was looking for. Nice quiet neighborhood, easy access to the hot spots and plenty of space inside. Strongly recommend this place and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

The General Store exceeding our expectations! It had everything we needed and then some, was the perfect layout for our needs. We had our kids in the spare bedroom and the adults were able to hang out in the common space without waking up the kids. The location was amazing as well, we were able to walk right into town and be separated enough for the craziness of the nightlife so it didn’t keep us awake at night. We will definitely be staying again!

What a great place to stay in Newport! Super clean home, comfortable beds, cute patio, very responsive host, ideal location! Unless you are leaving the city for the day you can park your car and walk everywhere! My sister and I loved every minute of our stay here!

We loved The General Store! A very "dialed in" property! Nicely decorated, clean and comfortable and very well equipped. We loved the location...walked to restaurants and shopping, barely moved our car. Our host was very prompt in getting back to us with any questions...not only before we checked in, but also during our stay. We will definitely rent again.

We had a great stay! The property is adorable! The only thing is that because it is right on the main road it gets a little noisy when the bars let out - probably less of an issue during the week, but the foot traffic was rather loud around 1am.

Completely happy with everything about our stay. Probably the cleanest VRBO I've ever stayed in, plus the communication was great, check-in/out was a breeze and we felt completely comfortable. The welcome basket with drinks and snacks were over and above anything I would expect. Thanks to Kelly for helping to make our family weekend just perfect. I look forward to booking again in the future.

My boyfriend and I decided to do a last minute trip up to Newport for the weekend and found the General Store. It’s a beautiful updated historic building. It’s very comfortable, and there’s plenty of room to stretch out. The patio is a nice place to relax. The mattress was very comfortable and the AC worked well. Kelly is a very generous host with everything she provided and very easy to communicate with. The General Store is by far one of our favorite vacation rentals we’ve stayed in! We’d absolutely stay here again.

It’s a perfect sunlit place ideally located. We went with our daughter and her pup, who loved the proximity to the dog beach. Walked everywhere including to the cliff walk, and of course Bowen wharf etc.
Very comfortable. Thanks

The property was super convenient and very well appointed. Parking is a bit tricky, but once there you can walk to most places or get bikes or scooters. Great family trip!

My husband, my dog and I stayed here for 5 nights and it was absolutely gorgeous!! First, the apartment is gorgeous. We were met with very thoughtful “starters,” such as a bottle of wine, some canned seltzers and some other drinks.
The space is just beautiful and the history to the building is really interesting.
Both bathrooms worked out great, the showers are nice and big, beautifully tiled.
The beds and bedding are so soft, you’ll want to nap the day away! There are TVs in all the bedrooms, although we didn’t turn any of them on. We did not use the additional bedroom/office as we had no need for the space. The double oven is amazing, if we were to have cooked much it would have been perfect. We can’t say enough about how beautiful this Thames street find is.
Kelly was extremely helpful in answering questions ahead of time, during our stay and especially the day after we got there when my car broke down and my alternator went.
You are in walking distance of The Elms (one of the old, famous mansions), a park you can take your dog to and go kayaking in, a beautiful wharf area, tons of restaurants and boutiques, and more.
We highly recommend staying here. The area itself is filled with hidden treasures!
Thank you Kelly for ALL of your help!!!
