Beautiful spacious cottage in lovely location. Plenty of room for an extended multigenerational family. Furnished well, and everything you could need there. Great local pubs within the village. Easy access to the Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon for tourist trail.
Had concerns about cooking on an AGA but was simple. If I had one suggestion not criticism it would be to remove the bath from second en-suite and replace with walk in shower. As there are 3 baths upstairs and only 1 shower and the elderly do find it difficult and dangerous stepping in/out a bath. Too risky.

We absolutely loved the property - amazing sofas and comfortable beds which was incredibly clean. The proximity to the pub, which did a fantastic roast and has a lovely beer garden, was amazing as well!
The only element to be improved is that the curtains in the bedroom are very thin, so recommend bringing blackout blinds for children as otherwise it’s broad daylight in each room from 4.30am in the summer. Perhaps this is something that the company can look to amend for future guests’ comfort? We were not provided with a welcome hamper, which other reviewers have mentioned receiving, which was not a big issue but wanted to flag for future reference. However, it is certainly a properly we would all love to stay in again!

We liked the Old Post Office very much, lovely accommodation, well equipped and comfortable, but reluctantly, a few minor things to mention. The shower in the ensuite needed some attention to cleaning. The 'for let' sign had been carelessly taken down leaving the outside window sill covered in masonry dust (not a good first impression). Bins in the bedroom would be good. The toilet paper and towel holders in the downstairs toilet both hanging off (one fell off completely). All the visitors in the visitors book commented on the 'welcome goodies'. We had nothing, not even a pint of milk. The check-in time of 5pm is far too late, especially considering the cost of the stay, a day is almost lost. These are just a few negatives, which can easily be put right, for what is otherwise a beautiful, comfortable, very well-equipped cottage, in lovely, delightful Ilmington, right at the heart of the village. Would book again.

Great getaway for a group of friends. Flexible accommodation with 2 doubles 2 twins. Spacious, stylish, and recently refurbished. Excellent pub on doorstep.

The cottage is as full of old world charm inside as it is from the outside. It is warm and cosy, comfortable, immaculately clean and tidy. There is only one space for parking immediately outside the property but we knew that in advance and not uncommon in a small village and anyway we always found parking close outside the pub. Cooking is on an Aga which we are a bit unused to in terms of controlling the heat and it does take longer, however it added to the charm as well :-)

This property is situated in the Cotswolds less than 15 miles from Stratford.
Situated in a village with a shop and two pubs and 4 miles away from the town of Shipston.
The house is spacious, comfortable and warm thanks to the aga.
The neighbours and villages are welcoming and friendly. The pubs are too
All in all a brilliant property

Delightful cottage, very well furnished and maintained. We all had a comfortable stay and left determined to return soon!

We had a fabulous few days at the Old Post Office last week. A beautifully decorated property which perfectly met our needs as a large group of friends. The kitchen was well equipped. More hand towels needed in bathrooms. With seven in our group a clean hand towel daily in each bathroom would have been appreciated. There were also many cobwebs near windows and beams and a few dead insects near radiators in bedroom 2 along with spiders in the downstairs toilet. The hairdryer was missing from bedroom 2 - just the bag and nozzle. Overall decor was lovely, beds were super comfy and the beautiful sunshine ensured we had a wonderful weekend.

Three generations of our family had a wonderful stay at The Old Post Office. Loads of space for everyone to spread out and well-equipped in all aspects from kitchen equipment to games for all ages. Ilmington is a great village - two contrasting pubs, a village shop and a large children’s play area were all appreciated. Good walks from the front door and local NT properties to visit. We struggled a bit for showers! One ensuite has a shower and the other does not (we knew this before we booked), but the shower attachment in the family bathroom was only handheld despite the photos on the website showing a wall mounting. Despite being August, the weather was cool, which we were pleased about as the Aga pumps out lots of heat constantly - such a waste of fuel and not environmentally friendly. We had the bifold doors open permanently whilst we were in - must be lovely and cosy in winter!

Spacious, well equipped and stylish cottage with fantastic facilities, huge kitchen and all mod cons. We enjoyed our short stay very much.
If you are tall beware the shortish doorways. The house was spotlessly clean and had great communal spaces, lots of comfortable chairs and sofas, enormous tables good for eating and playing board games. About 50 yds from the pub which served a good meal on Sunday evening.
Loved the village shop with local bread, veg and spirits!
Pretty village and plenty of things to do in the area.

Unbelievable Cottage in a proper English Village.

This really is a 5 star property. When I say it exceeded expectations it was just a perfect perfect place to a really high standard. We would 100% book to go again and I would book through staycotswold again. Their communication was great and extremely clear from the booking up to the week of us going. There was one negative and this has nothing to do with the property or staycotswold but one of the neighbours who is also connected to the courtyard has 2 dogs which they let bark from about 5.30/6am and I think it's extremely inconsiderate and annoying. We would still stay at the property again but I might make my thoughts clear to the other owner politely.

We were a group of seven 50-something girlfriends on a long-overdue catch up. The Old Post Office was ideal and had plenty of room for us all. Everything was comfortable and clean. The beds were comfortable; towels and linen were excellent quality, clean and crisp. The kitchen was lovely and extremely well-equipped. Anything that we needed was available and fabulous quality.
Our only very slight criticism was the aga, which none of us were familiar with using. It was a very hot weekend and the heat it was pumping out was a little uncomfortable at times. In the winter this would have been welcome I imagine.
Lovely village with nice pubs nearby and a community shop.
We'd definitely recommend this property.

We had a superb weekend at the Old Post Office, made extra special as my family were there to celebrate my Birthday.
Everything about the property was top notch, and the living area was brilliant for all of us just chilling out. I cannot stress enough how lovely it was, from the Kitchen and Aga through to the living area up to the bedrooms with their bathrooms everything was lovely.
The only reason Customer Services got a 4 instead of a 5 was it did not go over the top about the Superb Welcome Pack, it says that you have a starter pack for the Wood Burner when in fact you supplied a tree and in these days of Energy Conscious messages the house was very comfortable temperature wise.
The property is situated in a beautiful village, two great pubs, Happy hour in the Red Lion 5-7pm of Friday, 50p off a pint of smashing Hook Norton ale and at the Howard Arms a good choice of Ales and a very good menu. Whilst we never ate in the Red Lion the food coming out of the kitchen looked great, all staff at both pubs were very friendly and welcoming.
The community shop had very good feedback from other members of the family, personally I never got that far as you have to pass both pubs.
The village itself is charming with some little alleyways and footpaths, great church and graveyard and there is a lovely walk to the Playing Fields past the C of E Primary School, in fact you do not need to leave the village, forget Chipping Campden and Broadway just chill out in Ilmington.
I hope I have done the Old Post Office and Ilmington proud because they deserve it.

The Old Post Office is really welcoming from the moment you step through the front door. It’s warm, comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and great bathrooms. It had plenty of room for our party of seven and we had a very relaxing weekend. We didn’t venture far but walked from the door in pretty Ilmington and walked from NT Dover’s Hill into Chipping Campden. We hope to return again next year.

The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. It was well equipped with everything we needed. Spacious enough for our family of 8. The location was great and we had a lovely meal at the nearby Howard Arms. The community shop was so handy and the staff we so welcoming.

I booked the Old Post Office for my 70th birthday celebration with family & friends & was not disappointed. The cottage was spacious & beautifully appointed. It was warm & inviting with a chocolate cake wine & other goodies awaiting us. The bed linen & towels were luxurious & plentiful. It was less than a minute from a pub/restaurant where we had an excellent Sunday lunch. There was also a very well stocked community run shop just a 10 minute walk away. The village itself was extremely pretty & very quiet & peaceful. I highly recommend both the cottage & it’s location.

The Old Post Office is a beautifully furnished cottage that is huge but still cozy inside. The equipment and utensils in the cottage are a very high standard and a pleasure to use. The road immediately outside the cottage leads to a 'dead end' so there is hardly any traffic passing immediately in the front of the cottage.
There is a charming pub (The Howard Arms) about 50 yards away with an open fire. The food is good but a little expensive. There is also a second pub (The Red Lion) a couple of hundred yards down the road that is also worth a visit with good but less expensive food and good beer.
The location is fabulous with many walks easily accessed from the cottage, and Stafford upon Avon only about 12 miles away.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at 'The Old Post Office', and would highly recommend considering choosing it for a holiday in the Cotswold.
A gem of a cottage !
