About this house rental
Surrounded by a private reserve and just 5 minutes to Manuel Antonio beach and restaurants, this brand-new home has it all. A pristine pool and hot tub, outdoor cabana, tire swings, chef's kitchen with brand new appliances, luxury mattresses, three bedrooms with private baths, and A/C in the entire home. It is also the ONLY villa in Manuel Antonio with a private hiking trail, replete with sloths, monkeys, exotic birds, and rare orchids. Macaw's nest is jungle luxury at its finest.
THE SPACE
Macaw's Nest is an exceptionally private, romantic and secure home on a 5 acre jungle lot. If you have kids, grandparents, or anyone who isnt a big fan of stairs or heights, it is one of very, very few homes without lots of stairs on a single story level.
Just minutes by bus or car to the national park, restaurants, shops, and Quepos, our three bedroom, three bath fully air conditioned villa is the perfect place for both family and friends to enjoy a much-needed vacation.
There are multiple spaces for both seclusion and gatherings with loved ones. The massive open plan kitchen, living room and dining room has vaulted ceilings, gorgeous views of the pools, and plenty of seating for large groups or intimate gatherings. Our smart TV has Hulu, Amazon, Netflix, Plex (with over 1000 movies), and Disney Plus. Our wifi is top of the line, so you can also work remotely (it even covers the pool ;-)
The kitchen has brand new appliances, lots of kitchen gadgets, and plenty of cookware. We can arrange a private chef to come to the home, or stock up at the local farmers market and cook for yourself in the brand new chef's kitchen. The dining room features a high end, custom made live-edge Guanacaste table, a dark and luscious wood that is the national tree of Costa Rica.
A beautiful private pool with limestone deck and private palapa with two couches, a massive fan, and outdoor lighting is the perfect place to spend your day.
The home personifies indoor-outdoor living, so you can enjoy the monkey show: five sliders open into the pool area and main deck from the living area to form one large room, opening the home to the outside rain forest. Abundant recessed dimmer controlled lighting throughout the home provide a soft comfortable glow for entertaining or relaxing.
Our home is hands down one of the best places to see animals in all of Costa Rica. We border two preserves (one owned by us and accessible only, to you, and the other owned by the GAIA), so your chances of seeing a very special creature every single day is exceptionally high. Many birds including toucans, three types of monkeys, sloths, iguanas and the majestic Blue Morpho butterfly call this area home. Because of the surrounding protected areas, you will also see many of the more rare animals, including Howler monkeys, Macaws, and many other rare birds.
Two bedrooms feature king sized, Temperpedic beds and quality bedding. Store your personal belongings in the beautiful matching armoires and nightstands. A remote controlled, A/C unit plus ceiling fans assure a comfortable nights rest. Individual private covered decks with large sliders bring the outside in and give you a quiet place to sit and read or to enjoy the sounds and sights of the rain forest. The third bedroom has a bunk bed, with an additional trundle, plus its own couch area for lounging. All three bathrooms have high end marble. The master bathroom also features a soaking tub with views out into the garden.
Last but not least, your stay includes access to our private reserve through two hectares, and a hiking trail. It is a truly magical place, and the perfect way to spend the morning exploring without the hustle and bustle (and cost!) of going to Manuel Antonio National Park.
Guest access
You have access to the entire villa, back and front yards, and adjacent private refuge, including hiking trails.
Other things to note
Please read house rules very carefully. We have a strict cancellation policy and highly recommend purchasing trip insurance in this uncertain world.

We had an amazing week long stay at Macaws Nest! Daily sitings of monkeys, birds (including macaws), lizards, and giant grasshoppers were highlights for our kids, ages 12, 6, and 3.

I stayed here with my two kids and my parents and we loved it! The home was comfortable and clean. They had everything you need in the kitchen and even left us coffee. The location was close to the beaches and restaurants but in a more private setting. The property manager was quick to respond to any questions. We will definitely come stay here again!

The home is very beautiful and well laid out. The location is off the beaten path, but close to everything. Lots to do and see nearby. We had four adults and two kids and they were great space for everyone. The pool was nice and we saw a lot of monkeys and macaws at the property. We had one issue while there and the property manager addressed it immediately. Service was great I highly recommend and return in the future.

We had an absolutely fantastic vacation staying at this property! The location was perfect, the house was spacious and well-maintained, and the owners were incredibly accommodating. It was an ideal spot for our family getaway, and we can't wait to come back next year. Highly recommend!

A birthday trip to remember: three toed sloth off the front porch, monkeys, lizards, macaws, humming birds, toucans, other bountiful bird species, and agouti - all on the property :).
Paige the chef and Javier the bartender were also AMAZING!
Thank you to the hosts, staff, and wildlife that made it an incredible experience!!!!!!

Wonderful, beautiful, comfortable home, very clean with everything we needed. Loved the jungle setting and outdoor area as we are a family of animal/nature lovers and this location was perfect. We regularly saw macaws, squirrel monkeys, white faced monkeys, and heard the howler monkeys daily. Even saw a howler monkey on the trail. Johannes-he is amazing and I can’t say enough good things about him. He was so great at helping us set up our week of excursions and a chef who cooked for us two nights. The owners and property manager are so responsive and wanting to make sure we had everything we needed. Great instructions and recommendations in the property book.We had the best time at Macaws Nest and are all very very sad to leave this paradise. Thank you so much for allowing us to be your guests.

We (a family of five) stayed here for spring break in April. The house and property are beautiful and well taken care of. We saw more wildlife here at times than at the Manuel Antonio park. The pool was a great refreshment after hot days of activities. Johannes was always available and very helpful. The minor tricky thing was that the property was a steep drive from the main road so would recommend getting there before dark. It's not a problem if you're comfortable driving. The area is not really walkable as the main road has no sidewalk and the cars zoom up/down the road. I recommend 100%

This is the most beautiful home. We felt safe and had everything we needed at the house, even beach toys are provided. It was a lovely stay complete with lizards, geckos, red macaws, toucans, and other creatures! Did not disappoint in the least.

This property is all that it says it is and more. Our family of 3 teenagers visited in April '22 and by far the best family trip we have taken. The property itself is a treasure and everything you could ever want for being in Costa Rica. We saw macaws, monkeys and other wildlife when at the property and the location in town is perfect. We were able to drive to most of the destinations and restaurants within 15min. You will not be disappointed in booking this house.

Macaw’s Nest is a beautiful house in the Manuel Antonio area that was the perfect getaway for our family. The owners have clearly thought of everything as the home was equipped with all that we needed for a relaxing and fun vacation. From the toys in the kids room, to the umbrellas at the front door, we found that all our comforts were met. The house itself is wonderful, with modern finishes throughout. The beds were comfortable and the TVs were easy to use with steaming services for both the kids’ cartoons and grown-up shows. We loved the outdoor space as well; it was great for a play day in the pool and relaxing on the patio. Additionally, we hired the recommended chefs and both cooked us incredible meals at a very reasonable price. The property has great proximity to the grocery store, ATM, restaurants, and beaches. We didn’t want to leave and cannot wait to come back!

My friends and I were looking for a more private property where we could relax together, while being close to the beach. Macaw's Nest was the perfect spot to do this! The kitchen was fully equipped with all the spices, sauces, and essentials we needed, and everything was perfectly clean upon arrival. The AC worked great and we saw a lot of macaws while just chilling in the pool! On top of all of this, the host was incredibly responsive and gave a booklet of information and recommendations (if you stay here, listen to the restaurant recs, they're great!).

The property is exactly as advertised. Very clean, great location in an amazing atmosphere. We saw Macaw's, Monkeys and Iguanas without ever leaving the pool. The most beautiful part of our vacation was the people. This was our first time to Costa Rica and would recommend this vacation to all. The local restaurants, the beaches, the people could not have been any more perfect. Thank you Macaw's nest and the country of Costa Rica for the incredible memories for me and my family. We will be back!

We absolutely loved our stay at the Macaw's Nest Valle Pura Vida. It was the perfect fit for our family. If you like to get away from the crowds and tourists this is the spot for you. But it is still a close drive to plenty of beaches, stores, and restaurants. We never saw another person even near the property during our stay. The inside of the house is immaculate. The space is well designed and the decor has a fresh modern jungle vibe. All the appliances and AC units worked really well. We loved the outdoor areas. The large front porch area gives you tree top view and we loved the daily macaw flybys. The backyard and pool area was our favorite. Beautiful flowers and trees. Loved the hammock swings and shaded patio area with barbecue. Best place to chill and listen to the sounds of all the animals at any time of day. Macaws all day, monkeys in the afternoon and evenings, and frogs and toads in the evenings. My kids ranging from 14-21 were in heaven. So nice to have two outdoor showers to wash off the sand. The jacuzzi is so fun at night or in a rain storm. The pool and hot tub is well maintained. The swing area up above the house is magical. The property is completely gated and you have covered parking. This is a really safe, peaceful, and special place to have as a basecamp for all your adventures near Manuel Antonio. The hosts and concierge were so helpful and quick to respond. We thought we would be disappointed that we did not have an ocean view but we had no regrets about staying at the Macaws Nest. We will be back!

Family of five just returned from an amazing week at the Macaw’s Nest. The house is incredible, close to activities and restaurants, yet hidden enough to make you feel like you have the rainforest to yourself. Communication with the owner and concierge was fantastic too. We will definitely be back.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The house was extremely clean, well equipped, and tastefully decorated. The beds were comfortable. The master shower is huge and the tub was nice as well. The location was perfect for the things we wanted to do in Manuel Antonio. We enjoyed the hiking trails and swings, the pool and hot tub, and my kids loved reading in the swinging chairs on the porch. Monkeys, scarlet macaws, and lizards visited daily! Staying in this home was a wonderful experience for our entire family!

We loved everything about our stay in Macaw’s Nest. The villa is brand new, modern, immaculately clean, extremely safe, private and super kid friendly. We saw macaws and toucans every single day - at one point there were about 15 macaws outside in the tree at one time. You can’t get this anywhere else. Monkeys, tons of birds, iguanas, toucans daily. We were at first hesitant about not having an ocean view but wow were we so wrong - Macaw’s Nest is 10x better than the ocean view houses we saw which were generally not modern, overpriced and very “rustic”. When we stayed at an ocean view villa in the past we didn’t see nearly as much wildlife as at Macaw’s Nest. The sunsets were gorgeous over the jungle. The pool and outdoor terrace area are serene and surprisingly bug free. Plus we didn’t have to worry about our kids falling off a deck every day.
The concierge Johannes met us at check in despite us arriving very late with welcome drinks and snacks. He was very attentive, friendly and helpful and can take care of anything you need during your stay., and is super responsive.
The house itself is spacious with a contemporary, chic and elegant design. The master bedroom suite is huge with a massive luxury en-suite bathroom with a shower soaking tub and Toto Japanese toilet. The kitchen is fully stocked with top of the range appliances available in Costa Rica.
The WiFi is excellent, there are access points in each room and the connection rate is suitable for working remotely. Zoom/FaceTime calls worked great, and the living room and patio area are nice work spaces.
The house is less than a 5 minute drive into the center of Manuel Antonio. It’s an ideal location - super close to all the beaches and activities but quiet enough to relax in nature.
Our kids have adopted Macaw’s Nest as their second home. We can’t rate it highly enough and look forward to returning.

Wow- this place is an A+ all around. Comfy beds, spotlessly clean, responsive and caring hosts. If you are a bird watcher or animal lover, we saw literally everything on our wish list (toucans, sloths, monkeys, and macaws) right from the comfort of the pool and hot tub! Great location- very close to main road and the beaches, yet down a private cul de sac so quiet, safe and private. The bus stop is very close to the house and taxis were plentiful. Kids loved the toys, the bunk beds, and the tire swings. We loved the surfing lessons and the hiking trail right on the property. Highly recommend.
