Not explained that access was via outside balcony door, and with 2 keys only 1 worked on 1 door. Inside, found another locked door, so thought 2nd key was to a central corridor, perhaps? Neither of the 2 keys worked. Again, had not been explained that door was to an adjoining room, no key provided because we had not booked the adjoining room.
Room otherwise comfortable, although positioning of TV not ideal for viewing from LHS of bed.
Map provided useful, although did not highlight access to (unsignposted) Solent Restaurant for breakfast was through the Fitness Centre. I wonder how often the fitness team are asked to confirm access through “their” reception…

Amazing facilities included free with the stay....spa facilities, swimming pool, steam room, sauna, pitch and putt, tennis, outfdoor pool, and big Traditional grounds toxwalk round.
Room was dated and needs a refurb, but was clean and everyhing worked and bed was very comfortable
Good selection at breakfast both menu and buffet options!
Only a 20 min walk into Lymington, which is amazing!
I would definitely stays here again

Terrible, dated, hot room in a loud courtyard. The hotel rooms seem to be secondary to a time-share type holiday camp. We asked for a quiet room which turned out to next to the noisy cleaners’ shed and also adjacent to the wedding party getting ready from 6:45am. The room was so hot we couldn’t sleep, it was impossible to have the windows open as these are velux; if you opened them the lights from the bright hotel courtyard kept you awake. No air-con just a couple of noisy fans. I do not believe they delivered a service that matched the (over) priced room. Breakfast seemed very poor, the sausages were cold and others items missing, with guests repeatedly requesting food. Felt like a school canteen. We had booked two nights but due to such a poor experience we left after first night. We requested a refund for the second night but told no. I cannot recommend this hotel and from our experience I would avoid it and stay anywhere else.

Excellent stay. Great facilities and staff that went out of their way to cater for a food intolerance (unfortunately this is not what we usually experience!). We wish we could have stayed longer!
3.7
Nice hotel in good location, bedroom could do with updating but still good for the price
3.7
We travel by expensive push (road) bicycles and really prefer if hotels let us take them to our room, which they allowed. Did not try the restaurant but room was great.
3.7
The hotel charged me for a second room that I did not book. Their records indicated I booked two rooms with hotels.com but i have an email that shows I booked one room. The hotel manager said i had to take it up with hotels.com and that he was charging me for the extra room. My wife and I liked the place except for the fact that we were charged an extra room. Can I get reimbursed from hotel.com?
3.7
Picked this hotel as it looks like it has a load of character, so was a bit disappointed with the room, which was in a square annex separate to the hotel with zero charm! Room itself was large and clean. Enjoyed both the restaurant and bar and had a lovely meal.
3.7
Lovely hotel . Wonderful pool . Clean and comfortable room but mattress on bed completely gone - needs replacing as unable to sleep due to large dip in middle
3.7
The property is very quiet yet it is only a few miles away from Gatwick.

We enjoyed our stay at Elmer’s court. There is an outdoor pool which made us feel like we’re not holidaying in the UK. The room was clean and well-kept. We had balcony which was good for relaxing after our walks in the New Forest. You can also see the Solent from the hotel grounds!
The spa facilities were also good. There is sauna and indoor pool, and treatment rooms! I had the signature treatment and I absolutely loved it! There was wide variety of options for the full and continental breakfast (try the pan au chocolat, they’re absolutely divine!). The staff were all friendly and they were also very understanding when we requested for a late check out as my treatment finished after the regular checkouts. The food at the Waterford Restaurant was also something you should try whilst staying at the hotel.
3.7
Lovely venue and location, very good facilities. The room is pretty dated and the balcony and stairs could do with being repainted. Bed is really comfy and the room is a very good size. The breakfast was very average considering a £20 cost per person. Too greases and the food wasn’t very high quality.

Quite good.

We had a lovely stay, all the staff were very friendly and helpful.
The swimming pool was beautiful and the changing rooms clean and well equipped.
3.7
Fantastic setting within a location well laid out .The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice
3.7
Excellent service from the staff. Beautiful property.

Bed was very soft, heard the neighbouring bathroom fan . . Very loud. Fridge was noisy.

Loved it

Nice sized room, really comfortable bed, fixtures were a little dated but really enjoyed it. Breakfast was perfectly fine.

Very handy for ferry to Yarmouth Isle of Wight, literally around the corner. Very clean Well equipped and comfortable bedroom.
Sadly breakfast food was luke warm
Upon our complaint the waiter/manager came out with a food thermometer to check and removed quite a lot of items.
Solent dining area not very clean remnants of chips and crumbs on the floor around table. Reception was informed we await feedback.

Hotel location is fantastic.
Gym is fab.
Everything the great

Late check in, well looked after by night porter,he showed us the way to our rooms, which would have taken ages to find in the dark otherwise.
3.7
Lovely time will need to stay for two days next time to see everything.
3.7
Lovely stay. We had a beautiful room located near hotel facilities. Would go back.
3.7
Lovely property with a nice spa area. Peaceful and tranquil with easy access to New Forest walks. Chalet staff good and friendly. Restaurant nice ambience to eat in. Food good.
I thought they let themselves down at Breakfast. Food not ready at the same time. When they run out of things they were slow to refill empty trays. It meant you couldn't eat the whole of your breakfast at the same time. Very Disappointing.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, and look forward to returning. The staff were brilliant and welcoming.

Overall the building and the setting was nice, and the staff were very helpful and friendly and the room was spacious and clean.
Unfortunately there were a few things that really let us down for us:
1) The room was quite dated and in need of modernisation. There were no plug sockets anywhere near the bed, the only socket being for a lamp which was not a standard UK plug so it was not possible to charge a phone or anything else anywhere near the bed.
2) We booked this hotel in no small part because we intended to use the tennis courts - these were in very poor condition, one I would say was pretty much unplayable, the other we attempted to play on and slipped over twice. The surface was very worn and covered in moss making it slippery. This was in February, but it was a dry day and shouldn’t have been that slippery had the surface been in reasonable condition.
3) We didn’t use the spa, but we did use the pool which was also quite dated. The steam room and sauna were nice, but the pool was quite busy with children when we were there late Sunday afternoon. Given the marketing as a “spa” if that was the premise I had booked under I would have been disappointed. I noted there are “adult only” times but these were quite off peak times when you probably won’t be using the pool. The photos also suggest there is a hot tub/jacuzzi which it transpires is actually just a corner of the pool which jets so it is the same temperature as the pool and is not a hot tub.

Beautiful surroundings and such lovely staff. Rooms are a bit tired and I don't think, as a lone female traveller, I would stay in the room away from the main building. Next time I will try to say on a higher level near to the main building. All in all a good stay with fabulous staff.

Really lovely hotel, ideal location
3.7
Great location for the New Forest and Lymington with nice grounds and outdoor and indoor swimming pools.
3.7
We loved that to get to the Isle of Wight Ferry was 7 minute walk. The staff in all areas were good natured and helpful. the room was just lovely and in a wonderful setting and felt more like an apartment than just a room. Lovely quality fittings, bed very comfortable with feather pillows, white fluffy towels in the bathroom. Felt very luxurious and the breakfast - great choice served with a smile. our eve meal was very tasty. Can't fault this grand building with all amazing spa and pools and great accomamdtion. Will most certainly stay again.
3.7
Surprised my wife and must the staff were really helpful and friendly, the infrastructure is a little outdated but the service was spot on. Enjoyed every bit of it and will definitely be back.
3.7
Tierd units.
3.7
Very quaint & traditional style, bar & restaurant could do with modernisation and revamp for younger clientele
3.7
Beautiful main building and wonderful grounds but in need of refurbishment. As this was a hotel stay we expected to be in the main building but all the hotel rooms are in lodges a short walk away - not good if it’s raining. Lovely staff who were very helpful.
3.7
Attractive, well-manicured grounds surround an impressive hotel frontage, with a large lawn leading down to the estuary and marina.
Regarding the accommodation I was surprised and disappointed to learn that my 'Super Deluxe' room was NOT in the hotel building but in a block of two-level apartments a short walk from the hotel - this was not mentioned anywhere at the time of booking, nor was the steep set of stairs leading to the top level I had been allocated.
The room itself ('1a') was well appointed, though the decor was somewhat dated and in need to attention e.g. evidence of flooding on the bathroom door and bath panel, missing fascia on the shower controls, as well as hanging cobwebs from the pendant light in the room. Also there was no guide to hotel facilities in the room.
Breakfast was adequate but not of the sophistication to match the hotel's image and room rates.
In summary, I enjoyed the Macdonald Elmers Court and would return after a refurb, despite my stay being not worth the money I was charged.
I recommend less focus on the fur coat, more on the knickers.

Lovely 2 night stay. Would return. Our room was a separate lodge which weren’t aware of befote. Very roomy . C out of of had a bigger tv on the wall plus fridge considering the size. Dinner was in the main hotel and breakfast was in the building where the gym was so not ideal when it was raining . Gym needs a makeover. Weren’t acknowledged and anyone could walk in. When I said we hadn’t been before, was just told to take a towel, when I asked where everything was , was told that way . Would be nice in good weather as also had an outdoor pool. Dinner was lovely but pricey . Isle of Wight ferry 5 mins walk away . Lymington town around half an hour walk. Would recommend overall

Ok, but not 4 star
Good things- nice outdoor pool, was a hot day so appreciated, although not heated. Nice comfy sun beds. Nice lady at check in, free parking, beautiful surroundings, breakfast nice
Not so good things - the hotel is meant to be 4 star but I would say it’s not. The room we stayed in was not clean, there was mould on the net curtains, the bed had stains on the mattress, the mattress is probably as old as the building. The topper was two singles on a king bed, and poorly fitted. The mattresses also have not been turned as recommended by the manufacturer. The room had dust behind the bed and on the lights. The coffee area in the room had coffee stains up the wall. There was enough supplies for one hot drink in the room.
Unfortunately it was one of the most uncomfortable nights I’ve had in a hotel! Not what I’d expect for nearly £200 per night. I did make a complaint in the morning to the manager, but really didn’t feel like anything would change, or like she actually cared.

We have stayed in many Macdonald hotels over the years but Elmers Court is not their usual standard. We had issues with the shower gel, loo rolls and tissues not being replaced in our room and the breakfast wasn`t great (very poor poached eggs) so we had breakfast elsewhere after the 2nd day. Overall the hotel seemed tired. This is a pity as the location is lovely and very convenient for many local attractions.
