Evening meal quite expensive. Only limited beers

Liked the hotel set in quiet country location, room was spacious and clean with all amenities you would expect. Bed was very comfortable, and excellent power shower although we were informed on check in that the bathroom window was broken and couldn’t be opened.
Both dinner and breakfast were fine on the quality but lacking in quantity; very small portions. Other customers were also commenting on this issue at dinner. Whilst the service overall was ok the service at breakfast was very slow and extra toast ordered was forgotten with the waitress offering a lacklustre apology and we weren’t asked how our stay was at checkout which is something I would expect to be asked after a stay at this type of hotel.

Met the owner who was clearly passionate about offering exceptional service! His vision is borne out by the results.

Receptionist when we arrived on Saturday afternoon 8/06 was very hospitable and friendly. . I didn’t take her name but she made our anniversary stay feel very special.

Fantastic location, peaceful and comfortable rooms, delicious and interesting menu. Highly recommended.

This is a gem of a find ..it’s a country house close to Tavistock Devon..you will need a car.
The restraint is Michelin rated and it does not disappoint.
The breakfast was outstanding with many choices.
If you are lucky enough to stay here you’ll want to return again.

Our stay was amazing, restful and peaceful. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Have already recommended this hotel to a friend.

Incredible location surrounded by beautiful grounds and countryside beyond.
Service was warm, friendly and attentive.
Only things I’d change:
- zip together mattress was so soft it was hard to get up from
- I would definitely have eaten here had the there been something to choose other than the single fixed menu. The breakfasts were very good.

Beautiful setting and lovely comfortable accommodation - Would highly recommend

Nice looking property and lovely location. However, rooms are a bit tired and dated now. We stayed in the coach house - the decor is a bit tired (old ikea lamps & cushions and bedding that is a bit tatty). The room stunk of wet dog & the cleaning of the room was pretty poor. Lots of dust in the corners, scum around the shower screen & mould above the shower cubicle, which is inspiring given the fan did not work in the bathroom. I note the owners comment on lots of other posts that comment about cleanliness, informing people that they have a UV machine; whilst this is great it’s a decontamination machine, it doesn’t take away the need for regular cleaning. The hotel is clearly catered for the older age group (nothing wrong with this). Would not recommend unless cleaning is improved and basic decor is updated (it wouldn’t take a lot). Has the potential but sadly not worth the price tag of > £200 per night.

An excellent property is a lovely location easily accessible from Tavistock. We stayed in one of their dog-friendly rooms which was modern and furnished to a very high standard. Staff were lovely and welcoming and breakfast was delicious. Only had one night this time but we will surely be back.

Wonderful stay at the Horn of Plenty. Wonderful hotel and excellent service. My one complaint was that the shower water flow was poor at points (and water stopped at one point). Otherwise couldn’t find fault.
We ate at the hotel restaurant as well and the food was excellent.
4.7
We had a room in the house which antiquated, lots of dust in between the floorboards. Unfortunately being in front of the house road noise was loud, as we needed the window open as we couldn’t get to radiators to turn down.
Food was excellent, including breakfast, location pretty.
Thought we had upgraded to deluxe room with balcony from the pictures when booking, this wasn’t so, don’t think I would pay for a upgrade again.

It was a good 7 night stay. The room was spacious and the bath was luxurious! A great base for exploring both West Devon and into Cornwall.

Beautiful countryside. Extremely friendly staff. Wonderfully furnished and decorated rooms.

Beautiful surroundings, lovely room with sunken bath. Great friendly service

The welcome and attention were very good. Both dinner and breakfast excellent. Did not appreciate having to walk back to the font door through sudden storm for my dinner - a rear door for patrons staying in detached accommodation would have been nice! However, the overall stay was very nice indeed and I look forward to my next visit.

Superb B&B. Rooms immaculate. Grounds beautiful. Loved our stay. Wanted to extend but the hotel was fully booked due to a wedding.

We had the great fortune of an invitation to an 85th birthday lunch at The Horn of Plenty and decided to stay the night as well. The lunch was lovely and as beautifully presented and served as ever. We were upgraded to a large room in the main house and enjoyed the lovely views and comfort. Thank you...

Gorgeous location, beautifully appointed rooms. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Lovely fluffy robes. Breakfast was delightful, made perfect with a complementary glass of prosecco. Just a shame about the noise from the room above.
