The room and property were fantastic but our room was directly above the bar that played loud music until 23:30 which was completely unacceptable.
4.1
This is not a hotel so do not expect any bar or restaurant to be available, it is a more personal service and better for it.
We prebooked a continental breakfast which was very nice but fresh baked pastries would have been preferable to the prepacked versions.
There is a lot of care and love put into this place and the staff were very welcoming and helpful to make sure we had the best experience. Our room was spotless and beautifully decorated and extra milk, pillows etc happily provided. Beware the uneven, creaking floors, but that goes with older houses and his one has plenty of character. Lots of eateries close by and pleasant gardens to sit outside. A lovely stay.

Fantastic boutique hotel wind wonderful service

Nice cosy place with comfortable room.
Needs a communal area for people staying as a group to be able to sit together.
Internet was keep dropping also which was a pain as I needed to work also and found it frustrating.

Nice and peaceful, comfy bed, private bathroom, new coffee machine made a good cup. Car parking handy and very helpful and pleasant staff. The Hart served us a good meal after a long day.
Thank you. Mark and Sue.

Absolutely lovely place to stay. Made more so by Lisa the manager who took so much pride in the place couldn't be more helpful and was really friendly.
Deffinatly will stay again when in the area.

Amazing! Lisa was beyond lovely, the space is a delight, and who doesn’t love a breakfast basket?

Very cosy and warm bedroom, nicely decorated.
Easy parking, great location.

Absolutely incredible overall. Such a beautiful and remote location, close proximity to shops & things to do. We even received a breakfast basket. The lady who showed us in was so helpful and kind. We had such an amazing stay & will definitely be booking again.

A lovely stay in a very beautiful place with great staff

Do not stay here! Bed was tiny, not a double and terrible mattress. Room 6 is basically the office with a tiny bed put in, doors opens right out onto reception desk so no privacy. Reception closes at 8pm so they left the room key under a flower pot outside for us to collect. Hotel left unnamed overnight. Shower tray blocked and completely floods onto the horrible bathroom carpet. Tiny tv that can only be viewed from the edge of the bed. Coffee cups that do not fit under the small coffee maker so could not be used. Dirty carpet, uneven floor and no one available to discuss with all weekend. We left at 6am as could not sleep, I am a well seasoned traveler and have never had such a bad experience, do not stay

An amazing property, situated in the middle of build up area but you really wouldn't know it. The building and the ground are beautiful and idelic . As soon as you arrive up through the little driveway past the pebbled car park the house presents itself wonderfully. From the reception to the rooms the word quaint comes to mind. There were a few little floors but considering the house is dated 1800s but I won't tarnish the house. I had tour of the morning I left so I got to view every room and the honeymoon suite which my partner and I stayed in was due for refurbishment which I needed. Every other room were outstanding. So the question is would I return ? No only am I returning we've decided that it will be our wedding venue that's how amazing the place is.

Impossible to get hold of hotel as apparently an electrician cut a cable. First room no shower no hot water second room better but no working shower in morning definitely a two star only hotel

The Orangery and Old Rectory Hotel is stunningly beautiful!
On arrival we were told that as it was our wedding night, they had upgraded us to The Honeymoon Suite.
Staff were extremely friendly and interested in how our day went.
This hotel doesnt have a breakfast facility, however; there was a beautiful little continental breakfast in a lobelt basket wairing for us. Pint of milk in the fridge as well as orange juice and yoghurts.
Would absolutely stay again!
Gorgeous.
Thank you for making our wedding night so special x

The Restaurant was a nightmare to get hold of we emailed ,tried to ring, there was no way to talk to anyone, so we had to make alternative arrangements. Even Hotels.com could not get hold of them!!!
4.1
To start with NOT a 4 star - maybe 2 or 3. Very old and creaky, very creaky and be under no illusions with descriptions. Private bathroom whilst accurate, it is private, is also a little light on detail. Private means a different room across a public hallway from the bedroom. So this 4 star hotel includes rooms that are NOT en suite and with the freaks of the floor a visit to the bathroom in the night is a noisy and cumbersome experience.

Property with character !!

3rd attempt leaving a review, am unable to upload photos, come on Hotels.com!
This was our 2nd visit here, first time stayed 2 nights in a double (only room left at time of booking), this time stayed in an executive room for 1 night only. We had been impressed by the customer service last time, was similar this time but my gripe is with the price and the cleanliness. We paid £129 for room only. Last time we learned the hotel was mid refurbishment, downstairs had been completed, the bedrooms were the next stage. Had thought this might have been completed but no. We checked in, left our stuff upstairs, room looked quite nice, went downstairs for dinner and drinks in the bar and only noticed on our return to our bedroom the following; huge cobweb on curtain in bathroom, light pull cord filthy and when toilet flushed, plumbing noisy! Also wardrobe had handle missing, pretty basic stuff...
On checking out I mentioned to reception which was passed on to the GM and I did receive an email from Lindsey. The staff were very nice but it’s the owners who are at fault here, far too expensive for the condition of the rooms.

I was put in a room next to the reception and next door to a meeting room with a full on meeting that didn't finish until after 23.30 and I needed to be up at 0430
Drunk business men shouting and laughing was not what I booked...

An excellent little hotel. Very comfortable and clean. This is an old hotel and full of character. The staff here are what makes this amazing. They really look after you the whole time you are there.

This is the second time I've stayed at the old rectory hotel and both times I've been very impressed.
The staff are attentive, friendly and courteous.
The hotel itself is very well looked after, the orangery in particular is very nice.
The garden area is tranquil and especially nice in the sunshine we've been experiencing recently.
My only slight negative, would be that the bathroom is down the corridor from the bedroom, which is inconvenient, but not a major issue.

Pleasant surrounding and attentive staff but room a little dated and could be upgraded / modernised

Very lovely staff and beautiful breakfast. No dinner food for Monday & Tuesday was hugely inconvenient for us. Also rooms are almost not sound proof at all, no privacy in my room.

Unfortunately due to several mishaps our stay was not a success. No signal for TVs meant there was little to do in evening, there's only so much time you can spend in the bar! We were given free Irish coffees.
Our room was extremely small and was more suited for single occupant, even set with single towels etc. Restaurant looked beautiful and lovely dining atmosphere however, due to staff problems our meal was very late in arriving, an explanation would have sufficed but it added to our frustration. We were offered a bottle of wine to compensate for lack of tv signal and certain staff were very apologetic.
Breakfast was an added charge to the room bill so we were expecting something really good.....it was awful, over cooked and had to be returned. They did refund us for this.

The staff were very welcoming and anxious to make sure we had everything we needed on our late arrival on a bitterly cold night.
The hotel made the most of its age + was decorated beautifully for Christmas in a Dickensian style. It had large magical Christmas trees in the reception and lounge areas + made the most of the manteled fireplaces.
The rooms were clean and well equipped.

The house was of historical significance, having been the home of Christiphor Wrens grandson.
Lovely gardens & atmosphere.

What a fantastic find! Beautiful, quiet location, offering a nice fixed menu for dinner and a proper breakfast. what more could you want as a business travel during the week. As for the building itself and the grounds, I'm sure it would be great for a weekend away too

First impressions were of the very friendly welcome given upon arrival.
After the endless experience to today's "digital hotels" this hotel exudes a more leisurely pace, even on the most rainy of days there is a feeling of tranquillity.
