The place was very close to restaurants and the beach. The staff never bothered us to clean the unit they cleaned it while we were out. The place had a little kitchenette but we didn’t get kitchen towels until we asked and we were given a hand towel haha it worked.

Great property. Walkable from the ferry and everything on the north end but just outside of all the noise of the north end bars/restaraunts.

First and foremost, the staff was all very kind. The view from the room was beautiful, even the shower had a beautiful view. It was amazing watching the sunrise from bed and hearing the waves. If you choose to stay here I would recommend renting a golf cart, even though it is not extremely far from everything, it is at the top of a small hill, and about a 15 minute walk from North Beach. I loved the balcony, but it was absolutely covered in bird poop, including the furniture. I know they cannot control that but I do feel like it should be a part of the cleaning process/room maintenance. The wifi was spotty at times so I would not recommend relying on it for a work trip. My biggest issue was the horrible water pressure in the shower, it was basically a trickle and extremely difficult to wash my hair. And the hot water only lasted for 5 minutes so my showers were extremely rushed or I would end up freezing, which is not fun on a beach vacation when you need to wash off sand or shave your legs, etc. The AC worked well, the bed was fairly comfortable. But because of the shower/hot water issue I would not choose to stay again.

It is our first time on Isla Mujeres and we stayed here for 5 nights. All of the staff were wonderful and kind. Our room (standard room #4) was large, bright, and clean! Unfortunately the bed was a quite hard and I would not want to have slept on it longer than we did. It was also incredibly loud with people passing by on their scooters and golf carts, but only from around 9am to 9pm. The rooftop view was stunning, and I appreciated the 12-15 minute walk into town along the seawall. All in all would definitely recommend! P.S. if you need an extra blanket, just ask. Also leave the boiler on for 10 minutes before taking a shower and you'll be good to go!

Our suite (#6) has a gorgeous view of the sunrise over the Caribbean Sea. Bright room with spacious balcony. Laida (staff member on site) was extremely friendly and helpful.

Great view from room 6. See the sun rise and shade in the evening.
Very large walk in shower and everything worked as it should.
The bad is the old louvered room doors that let all the sound from the rest of the house in and any sounds coming from your room out.
Properties near Villa Elena are rundown and some are even just piles of old building materials.

This place is amazing. the service was excellent and the rooftop terrace was a huge perk. we were up there every night. h

Nice location and nice hosts

Exceptional stay. Staff were amazing. Check in a breeze. Room was massive with the most amazing waterfront deck (suite 5). Property and room were so clean and well cared for. The location!!! was the best! just a short walk in to Centro with beachs, restaurants, bars. Super cute coffee shop (with morning yoga) just 1 minute down the road. Coffee was exceptional. We onlt nbooked two nights here as this was somewhat last minute and we were dissapointed that we had to leave.

I liked that this place is within walking distance from the ferry station and that you don't need to turn on the A/C at night, just leave the balcony door open. The owners are very friendly and the room was very comfortable. The bed maybe too soft for my taste, but I would definitely go back!

We were fortunate to stay in Suite 5 and enjoyed a stunning view and a very comfortable bed. The kitchen facilities are very basic which worked for our purposes. the location is very walkable to town and beaches and having afternoon shade on the deck was welcoming. All of the staff we interacted with were very helpful.

We stayed in suite #5. Amazing ocean view and ocean sounds from the waves throughout the day and night. This experience was so relaxing for my wife and I. We stayed 2 nights. Many shops and restaurants within walking distance. Renting a golf cart or moped is ideal to get around the whole island. The nearby beaches are superb. Overall, this is a super great value and we are going to return guaranteed! Thank you Villa Elena for your hospitality!!!

My daughter and I stayed at Villa Elena for three nights and we had a wonderful visit. The room was large and spotless and the air conditioning was excellent. We didn't have a sea view room, though I saw them and they were even nicer, but we really enjoyed the stay. The staff, especially the manager was so helpful. When our whale shark tour was cancelled, he took us out with his daughter around the island and was such a lovely host. If you stay here, please make sure to see the sunrise on the roof, it is so incredible. It was one of the highlights. Do not be put off by the area, it is not a beautiful as some of the south side of the island, but with the navy base across the street, it is very safe and easy walking distance to North beach and all the shops and dining.

I have stayed all over the world in everything from shared hostel dorms to bare bones places to generic corporate hotels to luxe hotels to charming bnbs to fancy boutique hotels and honestly--this place was one of the most PERFECT places for me.
If you like to be close to a lot of walkable restaurants and bars for a very reasonable price, Villa Elena cannot be beat. We did book a room with a balcony overlooking the sea which was just phenomenal and is not every room, but the location and value alone I think would make this a smart stay for folks who value charming, well-located, independent places run by local people. I hope to return sooner than later! Warm Regards, Emily and Maggie

This property was perfect, nestled right into the local neighborhood you are submersed in area culture, it is walkable to shopping and restaurants, the manager was great recommending taxi's and boat trips, would definitely return.

Great bargain

Nice and clean room although a bit noisy with the road noise since I had a room next to the street. Bed was very comfortable. The room was a good size, had a rain shower head. I would stay here again but try to get an ocean view room.

Great room with great views and a short walk to most things. I wish it would have had a full fridge and not a tiny one.

Very clean. Secure. Amazing views

The room felt safe and was mostly clean. The roof was not at all how it appears in the images, not set up at all to relax on. The location was noisier at night from the street, not the sounds of the ocean that was described. My booking was Pay Later reservation, but I trusted when I arrived (and was tired from travel), and paid for multiple nights right away. After he first night, I realized it was not as described and quite a high price anyway. I checked out in the morning and asked for a refund for the nights I paid in advance and did not use. They said no problem, but later refused and kept all the money. It was in the end a terrible experience with this place, and they completely took advantage of me.

Very disappointed with towels changing every second day. Bed sheets never change for our 5 nights stay ! Room was facing the street very loud traffic all night

We stayed a week at Villa Elana in room #5. It's ocean view is breathtaking! Also, rooftop offers 360 degree view. The property was always very responsive almost immediately to any questions. The onsite manager was super nice! Our room was kept spotless. Will definitely be staying again!

Walking distance from the ferry. Very nice host.

Wonderful! Clara was very helpful, the place was sparkling clean, and the view from suite 6 is amazing. Possibly one of the better hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, and for a bargain.

Was so amazing! Carla was incredibly sweet and helpful and she cleans your room EVERY DAY!!! The bed was the most comfortable mattress I have ever slept in as well! I have never stayed anywhere with that comfortable of a bed! We will definitely be back!

This was a fantastic property to stay as it was walkable, close to the beach, and had amazing rooftop views of the Mexican Caribbean. The staff were friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We look forward to returning to this place in the future.

Wilbert and the staff were amazingly accomdating and easy to talk to for anything we needed. Suite 4 had a beautiful balcony on the ocean! You wake and sleep to the ocean waves.

I loved this room! I was in suite 4.
It is not located near all the hotels on playa Norte, but it’s a short walk to playa centra. I felt this location gave me a better feel for the island, being a little ways from tourist central. The sunrise view cannot be beat (and you can see it while you shower)! The room was quiet and the bed was comfy so I slept well. Housekeepers were very attentive. Will be staying here again when I return.

Absolute gem! Nothing fancy. If you need typical "hotel" style pampering, this wont be the place for you. The property is very well kept and clean. The owners were responsive by phone and messaging, but knowing spanish will help you out. The room was clean, small kitchenette, nothing more than what you need. Shower was an open rainfall shower and faced the water which was incredible, but hot water lasted only a few minutes, so keep that in mind. Bathroom is open if you arent traveling with someone you arent already "familiar" with. I stayed in suite 4 and the view is UNBELIEVABLE. Worth every penny. Large balcony, loungers and a small table with chairs. Right on the water the coastal walkway right below, but balcony is very private. There is also a rooftop terrace for a 360 view of the island. The area around the hotel is very quiet, small tienda nextdoor for convenience, and a short 5 min walk to town. I would absolutely stay here again and plan to soon.

The overall experience was great. The host Carla was very friendly, answered all questions and queries.
The room was clean, with a fridge, small kitchen and TV. The bed was very comfortable. The Villa Elena has access to a rooftop with beautiful views and is located quite close to the ferry terminal.

The room was very nice and quiet. We had a view of Cancun from our second floor room and there was little to no street noise. Quick five minute walk to El Centro, but its nice not to be staying in the middle of it all the time.

Excellent location. perfect place to stay for a few days, but be aware that in suite 5 ( most expensive) air conditioner is installed right under the bed. make a noise all night right under your head.

The owner picked us up right from the ferry and drove us around a bit to show us good spots to see and eat at. He gave us the option to upgrade for $7 a night to a bigger room. It was a no brained so we did! The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was great! Very close to the “downtown” night life.

Everything was great, beds very comfortable, very simple but clean. Beautiful ocean view rooms. Nice roof top deck. Manager is great, very helpful, very hospitable and speaks very good English. Easy walk to beach and restaurants. Felt very safe.

The Villa’s outdoor patio view is breathtaking. The staff always communicated well and were very prompt. Staff picked us up from the Ferry and also took us back early in the morning. The Villa is located about 2 blocks from the main strip, so you have the ability to walk everywhere and not have to go far. The only thing I would change, was that I have a very sensitive nose. The toilet spelled like urine and I did not like how slow the shower drained. The toilet could have definitely been cleaned with bleach or something strong to alleviate the smell. However, staff did come the following day to freshen the room and provided fresh towels. This was a nice 2 day stay on Isla Mujeres.
