This was our second trip to Iceland, this time without the kids. Skalakot Manor was fabulous! The breakfast was to die for, and the dinners were equally exquisite. Laid back and very restful! The sauna and hot tub were welcoming every afternoon once the sun was setting before dinner. We got to see the northern lights one night immediately outside our door. Couldn’t have been a better place to celebrate our anniversary. We are already planning our return trip!

Incredibly relaxing stay! We stayed here instead of busy Vik. It was near many things. We rode horses to the waterfall. We hiked around the area. We saw the aurora! The meals were delicious and the staff were so very friendly. The rooms and hotel have stylish and cozy decor. Thank you for a lovely stay!

Skalakot is like an old world hotel. Gracious staff and beautiful accommodations. Best food we had during our 11 days in Iceland. Loved the horses there! A very special place!

A great base for exploring south (southwestern) Iceland! Superb staff - friendly and professional - made the visit memorable beyond the spectacular landscape of Iceland. Food was excellent - occasionally a bit heavy but some dishes were extraordinary - the tomato consommé and the saffron risotto with pork cheeks

We loved our stay at Skalakot Manor Hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly (exceeding expectations!). I loved the views from the front of the hotel. It was very easy to access from the main road. The food was very good. The only disappointment was that we didn't realize you had to pay separately to use the hot tub pictured in the listing. We only had a short time there, so opted not to pay for it, but that was a bummer. The shower in our room was excellent though!

Immediately at check in we were greeted with warmth and helpfulness. He took time to give us a tour of the property and amenities while someone else brought our bags up to the room. Our room on the third dloor was beautiful with a balcony that overlooked the farm.

We had an excellent stay at Skalakot and wished we could have stayed longer. The property is so beautiful and our room was very spacious. We also really enjoyed the fireplace lounge after dinner. The spa was worth the extra fee and a very relaxing experience. Dinner was so delicious and relaxing as well. We were part of a larger group and that didn’t impact the quality of our meal. Our breakfast was also delicious and the staff even accommodated an early departure with to go boxes and coffee. They truly took the time and effort to make sure every bit of our stay was taken care of, even for just one night. If we ever return to Iceland, I would make it a point to spend more time at Skalakot for some rest and relaxation.

I have traveled extensively over the past 20 years, and Skalakot is easily one of my favorite and most memorable hotels. Skalakot hotel is nestled between a beautiful view of the ocean horizon and a backdrop of awe inspiring mountains whilst also sitting in a tiny town and on a small farm-like property with Icelandic horses. Then, the inside of the hotel is soaked in charm and coziness. The finishes are on point, and the bedroom view was perfect. Next, the dining lived up to the hype, in particular the chowder and goulash. Furthermore, although we did not opt to use it, the spa looked really nice and very tempting. Lastly, the personnel were so nice and kind. I'm so grateful I ended up staying here.

Such a beautiful spot to stay! It’s very close to so many of the sight seeing spots in south Iceland. The staff are extremely kind and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Everything is decorated beautifully. My 7 year old son loved playing with the dogs (his favorite part of our trip) and seeing the horses. We will definitely come back!

This is the only place we saw northern lights. They have a huge field in front, making it very dark, and we stood out there with the guests and conversed. The food was excellent, and it is a quaint, small town feel. We went ATV riding right in the area, and it was a wonderful stay.

The manor is very well decorated and the service was great. Bed was comfy and we loved the view from our room. Only confusing thing was old light switches but hey it adds charm.

Luxury manor with great food and Wes Anderson vibes. Located close to Vik and other southern Iceland attractions it’s the perfect place to stay for solo travelers and families. The breakfast was amazing.

Food and service was off the charts great.

I spent 3 days at Skalakot during a solo vacation to Iceland and could not have made a better choice. The warm hospitality, immaculate accommodations, outrageously delicious food, and scope of onsite activities helped turned my vacation into the adventure of a lifetime.
During my stay I hiked the breathtaking canyon behind the hotel, rode horseback across the black sand beach with the help of one of Skalaot's sweet, patient, and thoroughly professional guides, and dined nightly on world-class fare prepared from farm-grown ingredients. The breakfast is worth mentioning as well - fresh baked goods, farm eggs made to order, juice, coffee, and fruit.
The hotel, a destination in its own right, also served as a perfect base from which to explore all that the South Coast has to offer. The famous waterfalls, black beaches of Vik, and many other sites are a short drive from Skalakot.
My single room was tastefully decorated and very, very comfortable. I slept like a baby every night, and every morning walked out onto the balcony to take in a gorgeous view of the mountainside onto which the property is situated. The bathroom was appointed with high end toiletries, fluffy towels and a comfy robe. The shower was amazing - great pressure and plenty of hot water. Just what I needed after long days of hiking, riding, and exploring.
It was a fairytale of a vacation. Can't recommend Skalakot enough. I'll never forget my time there and can't wait to go back!

The attention to detail, the food the intimacy, the location were all perfect.

The manor is beautiful! I’m not sure photos can truly do it justice. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Great location for all south Iceland activities. 15 mins from ATV, glacier walk, glacier snowmobiling. 40 mins from Vik & black sand beach. Drive is so easy and beautiful feels like no time at all. The free breakfast is perfect served between 8-10am. Fruit, coffee, eggs, cereal, yogurt bar. We also left very full. Dinner was delicious. Came with fresh made bread & the best garlic hummus I’ve ever had as a free app. Recommend the Caesar salad and salmon.

Beautiful hotel surrounded by stunning feats of nature. Everything in Iceland is mind-blowing; Skálakot was a peaceful, serene refuge at the end of a long day. Clean and new but imbued with history. All of the staff were amazingly helpful and they were able to accommodate vegan breakfast options.
We stayed four nights and used this as a base to explore the area. Definitely go for the hike behind the Manor for awesome scenery and a rewarding challenge (but don't rely on the trail makers to get you where you need to go!).

Excellent hotel in a very beautiful part of Iceland. Nearest grocery stores/restaurants are about 20-30 minutes away, but the hotel serves incredible food and will be a home away from home.

This stay was incredible! It was our first night in Iceland. We stayed in one of the upgraded rooms and it was well worth it. The. Holding itself is beautiful but the room itself was breathtaking. I wish we had stayed longer! The bed was amazing, and the tub was extraordinary! It was nearly 3 ft deep and at least 6 ft long! It was like having half of a hot tub in our bathroom! I would definitely go back!

What a place! Skalakot is all kinds of beautiful. The attention to detail makes this spot an amazing place to stay. Icelandic Hospitality at its best - thanks to Vidal, Maxim, Christine and Isabelle. I strongly recommend you eat dinner here and also take the horseback riding if you like that sort of thing - we did the 2 hour tour and it was AMAZING! By far the best place we stayed in Iceland!
