Perched like a beacon on a grassy piece of property, this home enjoys a peek-a-boo view of the Gulf of Mexico just over a block away. You'll be five miles up the coast from Galveston Island State Park and five miles down the coast from Moody Gardens and Schlitterbahn Waterpark. One of the wonderful features of this property is its generous outdoor space, with two levels of covered decks on both the front and rear of the house. You'll have plenty of room for sipping morning coffee, marveling at the sunset, and basking in the cool gulf breeze.

This home was perfect for our 4 families and we all enjoyed our stay. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was due to a small ant problem on the first level. There was also a short in the kitchen which caused the GFCI wall outlet to go out and we constantly had to flip the breaker switch. We did contact GS who was going to contact the local team but to my knowledge no one ever came out since it continued to happen. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will definitely return in the future if available.

What a beautiful home! Lots of potential, but a few things that need attention.
Good: Spacious, clean, comfortable, quick beach access, ample parking for 4 vehicles. TV's in a lot of the rooms.
Improvement: Needs more in the way of amenities. More plates (even just some cheap ones would be great to have). Pots, pans, baking sheets, oven mitts, Keurig coffee maker, and other cooking amenities are needed to make use of the beautiful kitchen. A grill would be a nice addition, some beach accessories (tent, chairs, etc) would be nice for those not able to haul their own. These aren’t necessities but are a typical perk for properties in this neighborhood. Would be a plus to have tv in every room.
Problems: There were a handful of smoke detectors that have been removed on the upper floor.
The upper floor A/C ran constantly and was not able to cool below 76 (highs were upper 80's outdoors). Seems like the units may be undersized for the space and as the summer months heat up more - the upper floor is not going to be comfortable. The air vent in one of the upper floor bedrooms had been closed, making this space even warmer.
Ceiling fan over the seating area in the main living was removed or not yet installed - though there was a ceiling box where it should go.
The refrigerator twice tripped the breaker.
When we arrived there was no running water to any of the fixtures. After receiving permission from Vacasa, I turned the water on at the meter and discovered a major leak from the sprinkler system was gushing water. I was able to locate the isolation valve and turn off the sprinkler system and still get water to the house. Within an hour the sprinkler contractor showed up to fix the issue. Would have been nice to know that this was going on rather than showing up to a house with no water and having to go to work to fix the problem.

This house was perfect for our group. It had plenty of space and was very nice. It was a very short walk to the beach and the neighborhood was great.
We had a few minor issues with ants due to overflowing trash bins left in the garage from previous guests. The first night of our stay there was a thunderstorm that blew the transformer and we lost power. I contacted Vacasa by text and called them to let them know we needed to report the power outage to the electric company and would like updates. I also sent pictures of the blown transformer. I was told the local team would contact me and that we probably didn’t have power because of the storm. I never got a call from the local team. We didn’t have power from 4:30AM-8:00PM and never heard anything from Vacasa which was a little frustrating. I called the power company and they let us know that the homeowner did indeed report the outage and power company kept us updated on repairs and restoration times. Can’t blame anyone for the weather, however it would’ve been nice to hear back from someone. Other than that we managed without power, enjoyed our time in the house and would definitely stay here again in the future.

We very much enjoyed the kitchen being directly behind the living room so that everyone was always included in what we were doing. Also having your own shower in almost every room was an amazing experience for everyone. The couch was almost more comfortable than the beds! Was a fantastic house and we had a fantastic stay!

This house was absolutely BEAUTIFUL and so was the community it was in. The big laundry room was so nice and needed with 4 kids. The living room & kitchen were larger enough for our 2 families. I really liked that there were 2 masters and most bedrooms had a bathroom attached. The negative was the house is not baby proof at all. There were no baby gates inside or outside the home. The glass table in the kitchen is a big hazard. Our kids bumped into it multiple times because they are small and can't see the edge of the pointed table. The glass coffee table in the living room we moved into the bedroom within 5 minutes of being at the home. Not every bathroom had soap which was very odd. The breakers in the kitchen were constantly tripping. When we first arrived the fridge kept going out. We couldn't use a few outlets due to them always tripping the fridge. Issue was reported and no one checked in on us. There isn't a fan in the living room but you can tell there should be. It was very hot in the living room, especially in the afternoon. The AC never kept up even with all the blinds closed. There were broken smoke detectors sitting upstairs and the master upstairs didn't have one. The wires that it should hook up to were hanging out. While this home is beautiful you can tell it was rushed and not all the details have been worked out.

This is a great house. There were 9 adults and plenty of room for everyone. The location is perfect and easy access to the beach and close to town.

Our extended family of 11 stayed at this home for 4 nights. The home was very clean upon arrival, was nice and spacious and was as pictured online. It is close to the beach and has good views of the ocean. We loved having so many bedrooms and bathrooms! The neighborhood is lovely! Our overall experience was positive but we did have some issues. The A/C upstairs struggled to keep up with the desired temperature. The electrical outlets in the kitchen area kept going out so we had to keep flipping the breaker switches. The supplies in the kitchen were inadequate for a home that can accommodate 16 people. We have seen all of these issues mentioned in previous reviews and due to the Vacasa responses we were hoping that they had been rectified prior to our arrival. These issues were disappointing but did not prevent us from having an enjoyable family time at The Beacon!

Over all we were very satisfied with our stay. Pros: very clean, spacious, bathrooms in every room, close to the beach. The kitchen was more stocked than I had expected from the previous reviews.
Cons: there were electrical issues in the kitchen. We kept having to reset the breaker when using certain appliances. The upstairs AC stopped working after the first night. I contacted the Vacasa guest services the second evening and they said they would send someone out the next day. No one ever showed up to service the house, so we spent the next two nights without AC. Luckily, the outside temps were in the mid-70's so the ceiling fans were sufficient. There was also a loose step at the top of the stairs in the garage which could've easily caused a fall for the unsuspecting guest.
Despite the quirks of the house, we would definitely stay here again in the future and have already recommended to several friends.

Is this ok for a public review:
We had a great weekend at the house. It is beautiful, in a great location and very spacious. The downstairs is very comfortable and accommodates a large group well.
If you are planning to rent this home with a large group, please be aware that you will need the following: oven mitts, baking sheets, paper plates, drinking cups, coffee mugs, and kitchen knives. There are a few of these items in the home, but not enough for 12. The grill is a small hibachi grill requiring briquettes.
The AC upstairs does not work, and although guest services is very accommodating and responsive, we were given the following information:
"Thank you for patiently holding. The update on the matter is AC does work and has been checked by multiple techs. The house is just very large and has a metal roof so the AC has trouble keeping up. Our best suggestion is to keep fans on and window blinds closed. Is there anything else I can do for you?"
Our trip was in late April, so outside temperatures were in the high 70s, but the air upstairs in the house was 82 in the evening. We just spent most of our time downstairs and several guests chose to sleep on the comfortable couch in the room by the kitchen, however, the motion sensitive lighting was a bit of a problem when trying to sleep in that room.
Despite the AC issues, we had a wonderful trip. The location is great, the property is beautiful and the house itself is gorgeous.

We had a great time at the home . The only thing was wrong with the house was the bottom floor didn’t have a tv in the master bathroom

It was a beautiful place! We wished we could have stayed longer. The house fit our family of 14 just right. The amount of supplies was just right. We would definitely stay again.

Walking on the beach is the best part of vacation! Easy stroll from this lovely house.

I paid online for late checkout on Friday 10/27 when an email was sent giving me that option. No confirmation was sent so I text the management with Vacasa. They confirmed my payment but this afternoon at 11:00 a maid service showed up to the house. Then I received a phone from Vacasa and had to explain the communication on Friday 10/27 and my frustration about how the online process didn’t update my stay. Also the house has ants in the pantry associated with a dirty waffle maker, there is black mold around the ceiling AC vent in the kitchen and the maid service was still at the house at 4:00 pm on Friday . Lots of small things and having to deal with another property management….ill never stay at a Vacasa property again.

The house was amazing. The kids loved the house and our nightly walk to the beach to catch sand crabs. Big rooms with amazing bathrooms.

At first appearance this property is perfect. The bedroom sizes are great. The bed configuration was perfect for a group. The proximity to the beach and town was very convenient but after we got settled in we started noticing how poorly constructed and poorly stocked with common amenities the house was. Two of the four showers had the shower doors off the hinges, like dangerously tilted off the hinges. Thankfully the property management sent maintenance over the next day. The fridge shorted out every time we turned the coffee pot on. The pull out trash drawers were broken and off the hinges so when you pulled out the drawer it fell on the floor. Our last night the house got to 78 and we couldn’t get it to cool, thankfully it rained and brought in cooler weather. For the amenities, there were three total bowls, no wine glasses, I would have expected a grill but that’s my fault for not checking because there is not one, no beach towels either. No cooking knives, no sheet pans. Basically a lot of the kitchen utensils and tools you need they do not have. It just seems like the owners might be new to renting out their home and the construction of this new house

Everything was perfect, except it was hot. It took 6 hours for the upstairs to get to 72.

Was nervous about our stay because of past reviews, but we had a great time!
4.0 / 10.0
Overall our family did not enjoy our stay at all. The only good things were the size of the house and close proximity to the beach. Other than that it was a nightmare. If you want to cook, good luck. There is hardly any cookware, coffee mugs, plates or utensils. The kitchen looks great, but has no functionality. The microwave blew a fuse multiple times. There are sensors all over the entire house. Lights came on all by themselves. The garage door is broken and doesn't close all the way. Someone can easily walk right in. We couldn't get any of the tv's on the top floor to work. Any time we had to call maintenance it took them forever to call us back. The worst part was the house alarm going off at 4AM! There was no one breaking in, it just went off and woke the entire family. We were never given a code to turn the alarm off. Took us 10min to figure out how to disarm it. Scared our kids. Then while we were trying to pack up to leave, the house alarm goes off again! After 15min maintenance finally called us back and told us how to turn the entire system off. Our check in email specifically said the house alarm was "disarmed". That was obviously a lie. We will never stay here again. If you are looking for a peaceful beach getaway, this is not the place for you. Look elsewhere.

I wrote the following email to Vacasa and never received a response.
Good evening,
My family and I stayed at The Beacon this past weekend. During our stay we encountered a number of concerns with the rental that we would not expect from a place that charges so much money. Those concerns are as followed: dirty dishes in the dishwasher, popcorn kernels on the the floor, dirty floor/rug, unflushed toilet with fecal matter remnants in master toilet, trash left in garbage, dirty clothes in the laundry room, hair in bunk beds, hair in bathrooms, no hot water in master bathroom, food particles left in the fridge, non functioning toilet on second floor, completely full trash bins, dirty pots/pans (food left on pan).
We are not sure but we assuming you sent a maid to drop off trash bags and a rag. Not entirely sure what we were suppose to do with this. Further, when renting a place to stay we should not have to share our time with the maid service. Cleaning should occur prior to guest arrival.
Given all of these issues we find it only fair we are reimbursed for the issues that we encountered during our stay.
I looked forward to hearing from you. I am happy to include and attach pictorial evidence for several of the issues.
