About this cottage rental
Cornwallis sits at the end of a row of pretty pastel coloured former mariner cottages, on a quiet cobbled street, a stones throw from the bustling quayside, in the heart of the traditional fishing village of Appledore, just a mile and a half from the sandy beaches of Westwood Ho! Boasting breathtaking panoramic views across roof tops to the estuary, instow and sea beyond.
This spacious colourful stone cottage, is swathed in character, full of charm and cosy coastal appeal. Lovingly furnished with vintage finds, sinkable contemporary furnishings and an abundance of curated flora. Beautifully presented and utterly inviting, you’ll feel at home from the moment you step through the door.
A cosy sitting room to the front, with deep moody green walls, soft linen furnishings and a wood burner, create a cocoon of comfort. The perfect spot to relax of an evening or when the weather has turned, with shelves filled with books, games and a smart TV to keep everyone entertained.
A large open plan kitchen creates a wonderful entertaining space, with seating for 6 around a retro style dining table to one end and relaxed seating in front of another cosy Woodburner to the other. Floored in slate throughout, there is a range of rustic painted wooden cabinets, single oven, hob, dishwasher, free standing retro style fridge freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and toaster and wall mounted TV. Double doors leading out onto the garden and a separate laundry room and wash room sit off to the side.
There are three bedrooms, one en-suite with shower and a family bathroom, with separate shower and bath. All the bedrooms have new comfy mattresses and are dressed in Egyptian cotton linens and pretty hand printed Indian bedspreads.
On the first floor, a large bright south facing king, with views out of a near floor to ceiling wooden sash window towards the estuary. Painted wooden floors, fluffy rugs and a contemporary gas fire in the chimney breast, all add to the serenity of this room. There's also a discrete wall mounted TV in this bedroom.
Looking over the garden to the back is a lovely twin bedroom, perfect for kids or adults and not the short straw in any shape or form. These beds can be changed into a super king on request, a small charge applies.
Stairs leading from the middle of the landing take you up and straight into a stunning vaulted super king suite, with wonderful far reaching panoramic views, through two large windows, across roof tops to the estuary, Instow and sea beyond. The perfect bedroom to happily while away a morning lazing in bed with a good book, listening to the sound of distant seagulls. There is a bathroom with large shower to one corner of the bedroom.
Double doors from the kitchen lead you out to a pretty little sunny walled garden. Partly slate paved, grassed and decked towards the back. Here there’s more lounge seating, dining and a gas BBQ for sunny days. Garden side access, is perfect for bikes and beach gear. To the front of the house is a small sunny terrace, with cafe style seating for 2, the perfect spot to escape with an early morning coffee.

Fabulous property in a fabulous location.

Despite the stormy weather on our trip this part of the world is very beautiful and rugged. There are also lots of excellent eateries and fresh seafood in North Devon . The house itself is very relaxing and has everything you might need for a stay. The town itself of Appledore has a few nice pubs - the best one (The Champ) happens to be round the corner from the cottage.

Just spent a week at this lovely clean, well equipped house.
Very efficient and friendly communication with the host.
Appledore and the surrounding area has lots to offer.
We had a lovely day out in Clovelly and another at The Country Park just a couple of miles down the road or within walking distance.
Would recommend this property for a family holiday. ( no one too elderly as there are a few steps to manage)

A lovely old house, beautifully styled and perfectly located on a quiet, traffic/free lane, minutes from the quay. We loved the huge loft room with views out over the estuary and the big kitchen/diner/family room. Great communication with Amanda, our host. We’d book again!

The top bedroom has lovely views and the garden is a nice sun trap. There is even TV’s in most rooms. A 2mins walk and you’re in the centre of town with pubs and fish n chips easily accessible. If you’re visitng Appledore this place is a must.
