Clean with all the facilities we required.

Very friendly staff, dinner was superb, use of a hot tub exceeded expectations.
It is undergoing some renovation and the rooms will benefit from this. The staff/food/hot tub easily more than make up for some dated bits in the rooms.
4.5
Very friendly staff, free continental breakfast, good wifi, large television and comfortable beds. Very dog friendly and very good value for money.
Would have liked lock on bathroom door.

I have marked this hotel "exceptional" because it was exceptionally bizarre. We had arrived in time for dinner. The host told us that the kitchen was closed but he would cook us dinner himself. He is a kind, enchanting, friendly man, an ex-Masterchef contestant who cooked us a wonderful supper, fabulous, worth every penny. While he was in the kitchen he was content to let his customers, mostly local lads, go behind the bar to pull themselves a pint. Someone was keeping score. It was a wonderfully eccentric place. The host was let down by circumstances beyond his control. During the day, while we were out, an electrician from the council had trodden on a pipe in the loft above our bathroom, which around midnight began leaking. We spent an hour lying in bed looking at the knees of the hotel handyman dangling from a hatch in the ceiling. (The cabin was too small for chairs). At one point a flustered woman rushed in and said, "get up quick, we have to get you out of here! Health & Safety! If the ceiling falls on you, they'll be down on us like a ton of bricks." We decamped through darkness and drizzle to another cabin. In the morning there was no wifi due to one of the storms then ravaging Britain. The TV was a blizzard of blips. "I'll get you an aerial", said the host. "Gentleman in cabin 3 is complaining of the same thing," said last night's handyman. "Get him an aerial too." When I turned the tap in the wash-basin it came off in my hand. Then the electricity went off and we reluctantly decided to leave. We told the host that we had loved everything about our stay and would be back when he had got things sorted out. I urge everyone to visit. It is bound to be unforgettable.
When leaving I asked him to charge us what we owed him. Was expecting a discount but I don't think we got one. Not sure, but never mind, worth every penny.

The room was ok
A nice pub

The food was very good. We had breakfast, as good as I can remember, and a terrific Sunday lunch. The chalet style room, across the yard, was clean and comfortable.
Nothing.

My partner and I came after work and we had an amazing time. the food was amazing and the staff were lovely people and was really great value for money.
4.0
The friendliness of the staff.
There was nothing we didn’t like, it’s still very much a working progress. John and his wife have done well with what time they’ve had.

I stay at around fifty hotels, bed and breakfasts, pubs with rooms or cottages every year and have done for around a decade. This was, without doubt, the shabbiest, dirtiest place I have ever stayed. In fact, it might well be the dirtiest, shabbiest place I have ever been.
The floor in the room wasn't carpeted and was sticky. The mattress was dirty and ripped, the pillow cases stained. There was no ironing board, no coat hangers and nothing to tell me how to access the wifi. Breakfast was Coco-pops or Crunchy nut cornflakes. Several half open packets of cheap bread sat next to a dirty toaster.

Nice people but not very good beds for the price. To charge 100 a night I would have expected a better sleeping experience.
The beds were small, old and not very comfortable

The staff are so friendly - to guests and dogs!!
The separate chalet style rooms are great for staying with dogs - having your own door without a noisy corridor as in hotels allows a quieter stay.
The towels were super hotel quality!
We had a freshly cooked breakfast and it was delicious - dog was given sausages too!
We sadly didn't eat here at night because we were visiting friends in the area but the dining areas were very busy so can imagine the quality of food is excellent.
Great pub atmosphere.
The newly fitted outdoor pool looks great.
The whole place is under new ownership so will take time to be completed but it will be amazing. The new owner is keen and working very hard.
I'm not sure if it was just missed in our bathroom but there was no handsoap.
The summer high temps meant the rooms were very hot. A fan and fridge for cold drinks would have been useful .

Good location for dog walking
Some kind of table and chair would be good. Internet connection poor

We were visiting family in Huntingdon and needed to find a dog-friendly place for an overnight stay. The D&C fitted the bill - in the ideal location, at the right price, with super-friendly landlord and staff - and we enjoyed our brief experience of this simple and slightly eccentric hotel. I appreciate that they only took the place on quite recently and they are working hard to improve the facilities; it'll be interesting to visit again in another year or two.
Nothing to actively dislike but there are improvements to be made - mostly minor things that are no doubt on the to-do list, such as making sure the shower works properly.

Great staff, great location

friendly staff
No wifi in the bedrooms and poor mobile services so basically no connection to the outside world unless you go in to the pub where wifi is free and good signal

Easily some of the best food we’ve ever experienced.
The welcome was amazing and the staff couldn’t have done more for us or been more friendly.
