Additionally, the private balcony off the back with a gas grill offers the opportunity to cook delicious meals while enjoying the fresh air.
Don't feel like cooking on vacation? When it comes to dining options, Saugatuck and Douglas won’t disappoint. You'll be delighted to find a variety of excellent restaurants within the area, from breweries to fine dining! Just a short walk from the condo is Isabell's Eatery, a local favorite you'll find ready-to-eat items in their deli and bakery, pre-made party platters (savory and sweet), grab-n-go grocery items, wine/beer/liquor, floral arrangements and gift baskets.
Just a few of our favorites, too many to mention... are The Southerner, which has some of the best Nashville Hot chicken we’ve had. Red Dock, located on the waterfront in Douglas, offers fresh “bar food” and stunning harbor views, while Phil's Bar & Grille is a local institution serving up a diverse menu of creative flavors. For a unique dining experience, Everyday People's Cafe offers a unique and eclectic dining experience, this cafe has gained a reputation for its delicious and wholesome food. Penny Royal, another standout restaurant in the area, is known for its farm-to-table approach and artisanal cuisine. From their carefully crafted appetizers to their delectable main courses Bowdies Chop House, a posh casual neighborhood nook with choice steak mains, is sure to leave a lasting impression.
When it comes to shopping, Saugatuck and Douglas, offer a charming and unique retail experience. These picturesque towns are home to a variety of locally owned boutiques, art galleries, and specialty shops that cater to diverse interests. As you wander through the quaint streets, you'll discover an array of curated stores offering a wide range of items, including stylish clothing, accessories, home decor, and handcrafted goods. From browsing through art galleries showcasing local talent to finding one-of-a-kind treasures in specialty shops, the shopping scene in Saugatuck and Douglas is sure to captivate visitors with its distinctive offerings.
Lake Michigan a must on your holiday!! You'll swear it's an ocean but it's salt and shark free!! Visit the beautiful nearby beaches. Oval Beach, known for its sandy shores and stunning sunsets, is just a short drive away. Douglas Beach offers a quieter and more secluded atmosphere, perfect for a peaceful day by the water. Had enough of the beach? Take a ride on the Star of Saugatuck, a true stern wheel paddle boat or try the retro boating scene along the scenic Kalamazoo River. Step back in time as you embark on a boating adventure aboard a vintage boat, reminiscent of a bygone era. These retro boats, offer a unique and enjoyable way to explore the river.
The fishing on Lake Michigan is also a great option, you'll need to be an early riser, as the early bird catched the Salmon!!
Bob and I highly suggest looking into reservations weeks prior to your arrival, if the restaruants take them as well as some of the activities.
Back at the condo, Northern Lights also offers a range of amenities for you to enjoy. Take a refreshing dip in the pool, relax by one of the three fire pits with a beverage of choice, and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.
Whether you're indulging in delectable meals, exploring wineries/breweries, antiquing, local attractions, shopping, checking out the river, soaking up the sun at the nearby beaches, or having a night out, your stay at Northern Lights in Douglas, Michigan promises to be a delightful and unforgettable experience.

We stayed in this condo while watching our collegiate son's swim meet in Holland, MI. It was a terrific, calm, quite retreat after loud, energetic days at the pool. The condo was perfect for my wife and I. Nice size and, as I mentioned, quiet and removed from the hustle and bustle. The bed is terrific, we both slept great. The host is super accommodating - We had an issue with the shower curtain and she had a new curtain bought and hung in the shower less than 24 hours later. We would definitely come back.

Had a wonderful three nights here with my wife and son. Immaculately clean and well stocked, very comfortable bed and pull out couch, and lots of patio space as well as a separate balcony. The bathroom is also accessible from both livingroom and bedroom which makes it really easy for a small family We had a minor issue with hot water and owners immediately came over and fixed right away. They were flexible with a slightly later check out time and very accomodating. We'd love to stay again. Highly recommended!
