About this house rental
Miss Clara’s is a charming, mid-century cottage featuring a spacious, pet friendly fenced yard just steps from trailheads, parks, and dog-friendly restaurants and shops in historic downtown Black Mountain. Stay in and enjoy the 100” movie screen in the carport!
We recently had the pleasure of meeting Miss Clara through a friend. A lifelong resident of Black Mountain, Miss Clara had been making memories in this quaint downtown cottage for decades before moving in with family. After several conversations and stories, we felt equipped to bring new life to this beautiful property while maintaining its vintage charm. The result is a carefully curated, pet friendly, cozy cottage in the heart of Black Mountain.

Black Mountain, located 15 miles from Asheville on the eastern edge of Buncombe County, is a quintessential small town, complete with a charming and walkable downtown, a thriving arts and crafts scene, and at 2,405 feet in elevation, access to incredible outdoor adventure.
Named for a mountain range that towers over the town, Black Mountain became a haven for pioneers in the world of art, painting, music, poetry, and architectural design during the mid-twentieth century. The town was once home to Black Mountain College, one of the most highly-respected and innovative experimental art colleges in the U.S. Today it remains an artist mecca with multiple galleries showcasing some of the region’s best southern Appalachian arts and crafts.
Miss Clara’s Cozy Cottage includes private parking for up to three vehicles on a gated driveway, and is walkable to most everything in downtown Black Mountain.

The cottage is quaint and nicely decorated. Very clean and comfortable. The walking trails near and around Montreat College were wonderful. The distance to town is minutes away. The property backs up to the Interstate. This was unpleasant for me, as I am a light sleeper. Sitting outside under the carport was not very relaxing as the constant sound of heavy traffic left a lot to be desired. The yard is totally fenced in which made it nice for our dog. Laurie was simply a wonderful host. I wish I did not have to negatively comment about the the traffic noise, but I only think it is fair for those seeking quiet and solitude.

The cottage was a great place for us to stay on our trip to Asheville/Black Mountain. We were able to bring both of our dogs and there was plenty of room to set their crates up. They especially enjoyed the fenced in yard. The property was extremely clean but we did notice a slight smell of old dog urine in one of the bedrooms from time to time. It might be better to just do away with the carpet all together.

Great little house in walking distance of downtown Black Mountain. Well decorated and so comfy. We particularly loved the fenced in yard for our dogs to play.
