There is no front desk. When we arrived we noticed our room had no window, just a small opening in the bathroom. We spoke to the man in charge of cleaning who gave us the contact of the owner. We spoke over phone and he agreed to find a way to fit us in a room with windows. We slept the first night there and woke up at 7:30am with loud noises from the construction just next to our room.
We proceeded to cancel with help from Expedia and we were hoping to be reimbursed for the next nights. We spoke to the owner over phone and agreed to continue through them. At the end he refused to follow through with the cancellation and kept the money. We found another place. When we called back he said that he had been waiting with an option and that Expedia wouldn't let him cancel. Getting money back for nights you didn't spend is quite standard for hotels and hostels alike.
The place is rustic, not in a romantic way. The kitchen outside had no running water and many insects, plus trash from other guests laid there. The room was simply correct but not even charging less for no windows seems rapacious. For the price you can definitely find better.

Loved being so close to la punta without being right in the noise of it. All the coolest hippie spots within a short walk and about 15 minutes to La Punta playa. First of all the microbús from Oaxaca Zicatela stop is so close so that was nice at night to just walk up no taxi or camión required. Check in was so easy they asked when I would arrive and were waiting for me since there’s no reception desk. But whenever I messaged through the app they responded right away. AC felt great. Wifi worked too, I just didn’t use the kitchen to cook because it was dirty—my only complaint (but could’ve been the other guests being cochino)— it was nice to have a fridge though. Place has a super mellow vibe def nothing fancy. I would stay here again most definitely 🙌

A lovely quiet guesthouse just the otherside of main road from La Punta area and the beach. Just off the road for collectivos to different areas of the town and the bus station. Our room was a good size, very clean, places to put bags, a table and ensuite with toilet and shower with hot water (rare on a budget for Puerto Escondido). Our room also had a/c which was great and also rare for there. There was a lovely terrace to chill out on with a bit of a sea view. The kitchen was ok but outside, quite dusty and pans looked very old. Also the water to clean things with smelt off. Managed to use the fridge and coffee maker though. No drinking water available at all although clearly used to be. The host was communicative when I used his WhatsApp number and we were met with a younger guy to check in. He spoke no English and our Spanish is bad but we got there with Google translate. For the price it was quiet, big room, AC, hot shower and good location- very good value for money.
