I didn't realize we'd have a separate room with a kitchenette. It was nice having the extra space.
The bed was really soft but comfortable enough.

Good location. Good price. Clean. Modern windows. Simple, Updated bathroom with good hot water.
Quiet hotel, quiet room. Parking pass for adjacent lot.
Dark hallways. Ancient elevator.
Tiny room, not well lit. Old dark carpeting. Old dark bedspread. Old sheets. Cleaning chemical smell.
Unmanned lobby after 8pm would've been good to know upfront.

Centrally located
Not sure what is used for cleaning but the room had a strong smell when we checked in . I opened all the windows.

Great location. Walking distance to restaurants.
This place IS haunted. Also, the old time elevator is dangerously too low to reach and be level to the floor. My son tripped when he exited the elevator because it was 4-6 inches below the floor level. Needs warning signs.

The location is the best in town, right in the middle of the main blvd with everythin within an 8 minute walk. The rooms are suites with over sized kitchen, living room, bathroom and bedroom. Nicely appointed in an old fashion style to honor the historic hotel. King bed was confortable. AC blows cold
The big shock was that the hotel closes it's access door at 8 oclock!!!!! Who would anticipate something like this in this day and age?? This place is surrounded by restaurants and bars what stay open from 10pm to midnight. And to make it even more mind blowing is this time of year it is daylight till 8:30pm!! They have a paper sign on the window with a phone number for "after hour Check-in" however we called the number and left 4 messages over the next 60 minutes and no one responded. Had to go to a motel that night. It was nearly 10pm when we checked in to the National 9 and having shorts on for the warm day we were freezing. Next moorning we checked in and they will refund the night we missed. This no one could have imagined, 8pm lights out??? If one reads House Rules at the very bottom of thei Booking.com listing you will find this however who ever does that? It should be stated in the description of the facilities right up front.

This is an old hotel that is clean, comfortable and most importantly historic. There are many options for eating, drinking, shopping right out the front door that are easily walkable. A really fun place to stay after exploring the area wineries all day.
A porter at the unloading drive up would have been nice but not absolutely necessary.

Everything we needed to access was so close, we don't live in a place that you can walk everywhere so it was very cool to get to do that.
Everything was perfect

Cary House is beautiful. The ancient elevator is trippy.
The mattress was not a great one. The bedding could be better.

The hotel is well maintained, clean and feels very welcoming.
The elevator is one of a kind, it dates back but operates very well, it is not for those that scare easily, specially to the top floor!

Sen Hotel Mgmt is DEPLORABLE. Useless, brain dead bots, they have no business being in Hospitality.
See above. Room was 55 degrees with no working HEAT ! Left hotel within minutes of arriving. MGMT ignored pleas for how to receive room night refund thru Booking.com, mssgs not returned for 2 weeks.

The hotel was fine. I didn’t have a breakfast
The hotel is on Main Street. With two very offensive bars that played extremely loud music. Motorcycles hells angels you name it. I won’t be back to Placerville again. Not to spend the night.

The two bedroom suite was large enough for the four of us. It was clean and tastefully furnished. The lobby was beautiful and reflected the era in which is was built!
We requested a table in our room ahead of time so we could play board games. They didn't have one but they did open up a room downstairs where we could use a table for games and have snacks.

interesting history - stories, photos, etc in the lobby.
it's an old building so some noise happens- from hallway, street noise.

I liked the privacy and it was quiet. The bed was very comfortable.
The room had no amenities, not even a microwave.

The location in the middle of the downtown was wonderful. It was fun to stay in the historic hotel.
There were no blocking curtains and lots of lights right out the window so the room was very bright all night making it hard to sleep

Cary House maintains the 1880’s ambience throughout. the elevator is a pull-screen-door, load two, style. The lobby is beautiful with a baby grand piano, stained glass windows, and a grand mahogany handrail staircase
The staff was a bit “thin”, but who isn’t now.
