About this cottage rental
Harleyford Cottage is set in delightful, rural surroundings in the heart of the Otter Valley. The Cottage benefits from its location close the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and within the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The cottage is perfectly situated to give its guests a very enjoyable holiday experience, from land, coast or sea.
It is in walking distance of the RSPB nature reserve at Aylesbeare Common and a short drive to over 2,000 acres of Pebblebed Heaths where there is limitless walks, biking and nature watching opportunities. The cottage is also on the East Devon Way, a well maintained walk from Lyme Regis to Exmouth.
Although it is located in a very tranquil and secluded area of the Otter Valley, the regency seaside town of Sidmouth is only a few miles away. A mere 10 minute drive will take you to Budleigh Salterton and further on, the sandy beach of Exmouth.
Harleyford Cottage has a double bedroom, kitchen, living room and shower room and is ideal for a couple. The single-story accommodation is bright, clean and air and has recently been decorated.
The spacious kitchen and living areas are separated by oak units to floor and ceiling ending in a feature brick pillar. The double bedroom contains a wardrobe and drawers. The shower room contains a quadrant shower cubicle with an electric shower and recently installed sanitary ware.
Features and Facilities
The cottage is centrally heated and electricity is included. The use of a patio and garden for enjoying the weather and barbeques is available.
The kitchen includes an electric oven and hob, microwave oven, toaster and fridge / freezer.
The roomy lounge area includes a comfy sofa-bed, TV (with freeview), DVD player, radio and CD player.
Parking for one car is on-site.
We regret that we cannot accept pets or smoking on the property.

Enjoyed the stay here, useful for Sidmouth,Lyme Regis,Seaton,, did not walk far as not always well during week but place made us feel better, if could of there are plenty of foot paths to walk, but love to return sometime, and thanks for our bottle of wine as it was part of our anniversary stay.

Great accommodation within easy driving of lots of places, Sidmouth, Dawlish one way, Torquay,Paignton and Brixham the other way, really welcoming and friendly hosts well worth the visit.

The cottage is small but perfectly formed. A very comfortable bed, well-fitted kitchen, great shower. The hosts live on site and are extremely easy to get on with. All in all, we thoroughly recommend this property.

We enjoyed our stay at Harleyford Cottage. It was easy to revisit old haunts in Devon such as Topsham and Budleigh Salterton and Sidmouth from there. The Tea Rooms in the village did the best cream teas and the Chinese takeaway takeaway was good and did home delivery.

We were able to rest and recharge our batteries which was just what we wanted

Very welcoming accommodation, everything you need provided and a bonus cream tea and bottle of wine. Would very recommend this location

On arrival we discovered the owners had left us a bottle of wine together with fresh scones, jam and cream for a Devon cream tea. Such a lovely gesture- thank you Sally and Andy. We loved the annex; it was a perfect bolt hole and Shadow made us very welcome.

Perfect little getaway in South Devon. Everything you could possibly want from a holiday rent. Peaceful and relaxing, but only a few miles away from many attractions such as adventure park, donkey sanctuary, Jurassic Coast to name but a few. Would definitely return and definitely reccommend.

Lovely cottage in bucolic setting
This property is a one bedroom extension of the owner's house outside the town of Newton Poppelford near Sidmouth. The place is fully equipped for everything you need for a lovely stay and is within driving distance of the towns of Sidmouth, Beer, and other seaside and country towns. There are grocery stores and restaurants a drive away in Sidmouth. One day we walked to Tipton St. John and had lunch in the Golden Lion, and then walked back on the public footpath by the River Otter. On the property, the owner has a couple of horses which were fun and we enjoyed a visit to the donkey sanctuary. Communication with Sallie and Andrew was excellent; they could not have been nicer. We would love to return one day and take full advantage of the serenity and beauty of the Devon countryside.

I enjoyed a lovely 3 day stay at Harleyford Cottage. It was quiet, clean and tranquil. I really liked the private outdoor area to sit and have a quiet cuppa and looking over the garden. The interior was clean and equipped with everything needed for a very comfortable stay. The only feedback I would give, would be to supply handwash in the bathroom. Otherwise, everything else needed was there. I wish I had the time to have stayed longer. I will certainly look to stay again at Harleyford on my next visit. :)

This property is first class , very homely, set out in the country but not far from the sea.
Set up for two adults with everything needed to hand, in the summer there is a patio where guests can sit and also a small lawn. I booked it for Christmas very near to my son and daughter in law, also only a short distance from my Grandson and family and my Granddaughter and family. They picked me up each day but this little cottage gave me the time to be quiet on my own. One needs a little quiet at 86 years old.
I will be booking it again in the future during school holidays so as I am near to family and see my great grandchildren. I worked with property nearly all my working life and I would give this cottage and the owners 10+
Well done and thank you

The location was perfect for us as we wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the City. Lovely countryside base just a few minutes drive to the main roads and less than 15 minutes to the coast. A great base to explore the south east coast. Sally was a great host who made us feel very welcome and was available if we needed anything but wasn’t intrusive. We had a really enjoyable stay.

If getting away from it all is your thing this place will be perfect. In the middle of the country, short drive to most places but a bit far to walk. A bit like a granny flat it’s attached to the owners house, however this was no issue as it felt private. Very pretty place countryside views amazing in this area. Flat needs an update decor wise but we were happy enough. Hint- don’t use the cooking oil in the cupboard take your own. Locals for food , the golden lion, the blue ball were very nice with good food. Don’t forget the donkey sanctuary it’s a lovely day out. Exmouth is the best beach with a large Tesco’s on the way to it. Sidmouths not far to drive to and is a busy seaside town with plenty of shops and cafe/ restaurants plenty of walks for miles if you want them.

Country gem
A beautiful but small cottage attached to a lovely house in the gorgeous Devon countryside. The cottage has been cleverly built to maximise the space offering an ideal retreat for couples. The owner was extremely welcoming and friendly and ensured we had everything we required. We look forward to returning again.

Small but charming & great value
If you're planning on being out and about for your holiday then this place is perfect, it's pretty small but then it's very cheap (and charming/lovely surroundings) and we found it completely adequate for our needs. It's an annexe of someone's farmhouse, the owners were very friendly but also left us to get on with our holiday. We were very impressed with their COVID preparations - we felt very safe.
I think it's brilliant value for money and I'm looking forward to booking again.

Peaceful retreat.
We have had a lovely quiet, restful few days here in the Devon countryside. The property has everything we needed and is cosy and clean.

On the whole excellent
It was an ideal place for two, we felt welcomed and it was warm and cosy on a cold and wet February day when we arrived. Our complaint was, that although the mattress was comfortable, it needed replacing as it sagged in the middle and being a poor sleeper I had several very bad nights.

Quiet stay in the country close everything
Lovely cosy warm accommodation would recommend and return. We attended event at west point but close to coast too, great location for exploring, Landlord recommended The Bowd for Sunday roast, it was lovely and a lovely stay.
Thank you
