The house was incredibly charming. Old but well kept and updated. The house was spacious, but cozy. The neighborhood cat was a welcome visitor, as well! There was ample parking and if we had neighbors at the nearby property, we couldn't tell.
Smoke detectors with low battery chirps were annoying. I wish there was a lock on the door going down to the basement as the basement can be accessed from the outside. The deck off the master bedroom needs TLC.

The location was great, with a couple of good restaurants within easy walking distance. The area was quiet. The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The host was very responsive, communication was wonderful.
None of the bedrooms were dark enough. Only the main bedroom had shades on the windows, but there were no shades on the French doors out to the deck off the main bedroom. We had to hang a sheet over the French doors to block out the light. All of the other bedrooms simply had sheer curtains - no shades - on the windows, so sleeping in a different room wasn't an option. The bed in the main bedroom was uncomfortable and very creaky - it was impossible to move without making any noise!

The house was neat and clean. The accommodations were good for our large family. The beds were comfortable.
The living room furniture was a little stiff and the water pressure was a bit low but that may not be on the property, it could be on the supplier..That said I would definitely stay here again while in the area.

The outside space could be better including the upstairs deck.

The Riley House was charming, clean, comfortable, and in a very good location near restaurants and within a (hilly!) mile's walk of historic Harper's Ferry. The beds were comfortable, all the bedrooms had ceiling fans, and there was plenty of hot water for showers. The house had many comfortable places to sit and relax, both inside and out.
Internet access through the house's wifi was not reliable, which may not be the fault of the house's router as neither was our cellular data (T-Mobile). Also, what we appreciated as the charming quirks of an older house, some others might not appreciate. If you are looking for a place with everything shiny and new, this is probably not the place for you.

It is on a quiet street with plenty of parking.
The sofa and dining chairs were not comfortable. The bathroom sink is so dirty. It was hard getting water from the faucet to splash one’s face. The dishwasher is nice but I think it needs some kind of anchoring- when we had the bottom basket pulled out to fill it the dishwasher would tip forward. The coffee machine was not clean.

The house is in a great location and the layout is spacious. Really enjoyed the shady front porch.
The plumbing was dicey in the kitchen and microwave front was very dirty. The sink in the full bathroom is very old, pedestal style. It looks really bad because it's peeling, and toothbrushes kept falling in. Also the futon is not acceptable for sleeping on due to the extremely loud creaking sounds every time you move even a little, plus it was very hard. I ended up sleeping on the living room love seat instead - not ideal. There was a throw blanket from the futon that I tried to use but it smelled of body odor.

Excellent location. Sweet house with all the amenities we needed.
More than enough to sleep a whole family.
I plan to stay here again.
My only complaint is the master bedroom ac was too weak in April... we were sweating and I had to sleep without covers and with the windows open.
A better or more than one ac should be invested in, in my opinion.

For the most part it was clean and very homey.
we found that dining room table was broken and held together with a rubber band. I found a pair of someone’s socks under the pillows of the futon which made me question just how hard someone actually cleaned up. we had an “extremely hard time locking the door when we leave at any time. It would also would have been more convenient to have an outlet near the sink in the upstairs bathroom.

location and size

The house was decorated really nice, everything was clean. It is an old home, but we have lived in old homes and understand everything is not going to be perfect. Really loved the home!
Some of the outlets didn't work, but again...its an almost 100 year old home so its to be expected. Its a little further from city center so walking was rough. Felt like up hill both ways, lol. But, hey, we needed the exercise. But the area was really quiet and nice.

The location was perfect.
It could have been cleaner. We realize that it is an old house, but some updates would be nice.

We loved the coziness of the home and all of the rooms. The master bedroom and deck were exceptional. Location is perfect and about a mile from the historic town center. We had a beautiful and relaxing stay with our family.
The only issue we had was we hard a hard time getting in. The key box was confusing and with no clear directions, it took a while to get inside. It would be good to
provide clear directions since it and old style key box. The doors to the basement were unlocked so we secured that lock.

We loved the house! It was dated but with wonderful furnishings! One bath and 1/2 was even doable with 4 adults and 4 children ages 14, 11, 5 and 1 ! The location was amazing! History all around you on every block! Riley house was responsive to our needs responding within 24 hours! The people who live in Harpers Ferry are extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the History especially on Washington St. I cannot finish with out recognizing my back yard neighbor Greg! He was friendly and fun to talk to and so welcoming!
The kitchen and dining room chairs are in need of repair! Other the that we were happy with our stay!

Great location, walking distance to shops and restaurants. Cute park up the street where our son played.
The walls are very thin, but it’s an old house so that’s to be expected.

The house was clean and comfortable and roomy. The host was friendly and responsive. It was nice being in a historic area with a restaurant close by.
The yard could have used a little sprucing up.
