This is a hidden gem! Gorgeous secluded huge property in the jungle. The owners are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. You can swim in the river and enjoy food and drink in the restaurant, served by very kind staff.

Everything! An amazing hide-away, so glad we found it! We extended our stay as we didn't want to leave.
Laurence & Bruno are wonderful hosts - welcoming & helpful. All the staff are great - smiley & happy. Great vibe amongst all the team.
Food is yum - lots of great options. Best breakfast in Colombia!
Great music playing in the restuarant every night!
Lots of hammocks & sunbeds to chill out.
Great walking, hiking & running trails all around the hotel.
The best bit is the river crossing on arrival - adds to the whole adventure. Loved it! Book it!

The French couple who own this place are really wonderful hosts, the rooms are comfortable, food fantastic and there is plenty to do in the area including hiking trails and beaches, plus it is close to Tayrona Park entrance. The gardens are beautiful and the location is very peaceful right by the river

So far my favorite hotel in the world, without overexaggerating. Amazing food, the kitchen made us so happy. Extremely friendly workers and owners. The Hotel is in the middle of nature, you can go to the nice river and we even saw birds and monkeys during breakfast. All in all perfect for couples to relax.

Wonderful riverside location, exotic entry by crossing a river. Comfortable facilities for outdoor dining. Large room, comfortable bed, privacy with your own hammock. Tasty meals, pleasant staff.
My room, #1, had bed bugs. They bit me the second night I was there while I was reading in bed with the light low. I caught two. I then searched the mattress and found more. It was late and I couldn't get through by phone to the staff due to poor signal, so I slept outside the room. The hotel owner in the morning denied what I said, even after I showed her the remnants of two dead bed bugs, and accused me of being dirty and making it up to get the room for free. Fortunately the woman who runs the front desk was more sympathetic and paid attention and said she would instruct her workers to take steps to get rid of the bedbugs.

The French owners of the Barranquero have created a laid-back, comfortable lodging and dining experience that is original, relaxed and unforgettable. The hotel is very well-designed. Our room was extremely clean, comfortable, and spacious. WiFi is excellent, especially considering how isolated the hotel is. It was a perfect place to unwind, surrounded by glorious nature and few people.
No complaints at all. Truly, the staff was wonderfully flexible, informative, affable and attentive. The food was delicious. Dinner took awhile to be served, but I did not come all the way out to the jungle to be in a rush. The complimentary breakfast was substantial, tasty, first-rate. The hot chocolate was as good as in France!! Bruno, the owner, picked us up and drove us back and forth across the shallow rivers to and from the main highway in his Jeep, chatting with us amiably. He and his wife Laurence and the staff (Cynthia, Daniel) were all kind and accommodating. I loved it. Plus, the hikes along and across the river and to the waterfall were terrific, unspoiled nature experiences. No crowds, hardly anyone really. Just what I was looking for.

The location was amazing, in the middle of nature with a river to swim, we walked along the riverto tayrona park. The crossing of the river was an extra fun experience, we were with two people in their 60s and they loved it. We left very early before 7 but that was no problem for the staff to bring us to the other side of the river. The staff will do everything they can to make your stay the best. The food was the best we ate in colombia, my venezuelan father in law almost cried because the sopa de lentejas was so good and reminded him of his mother. My family will never forget these special days in your hotel, thank you so much.

The staff is really nice and speaks English.
The breakfast as well as the food from the restaurant was delicious.
The landscape was beautiful at the river and it was quiet.
It is an absolutely No-Go that it is not written in the description of the hotel that two river need to be crossed (wading, not by a bridge). We had luck that we were there at a dry season and had aquashoes with us - the water still was higher than our knees. But what on earth will happen if there is a thunderstorm or heavy rain, when the current is high? Well we are young and fit, but what about older people. Fortunately, you are driven by a 4WD if you have luggage, but what will happen if the 4WD is defective?
Because you are in a jungle, there were many insects coming into the room although the door was closed. They could do more with the cleaning, because we found the soap of the guest before us on the shower floor.
The price in the restaurant was higher than outside and you must know that there are no other opportunities for diner without crossing the river, especially if it is dark outside.
For paying with credit card they charge you an extra 10 % fee, what we did not saw in any hotel before in Columbia. There are no ATMs at all in the village, so that you need to have enough money with you before.

Staff and owners are great. Food is amazing. Location with a lot of trails around and river etc.
Air conditioning in our first room was broken and in the second it barely worked so the room was hot during the day.

Cinitia and the staff were wonderful, Breakfast was generous (free) and the dinners there were great and had a full bar as well. The room was big and roomie and the we had a hammock. The grounds were beautiful!
Well, we has to walk through 2 rivers to get to the property and the wifi was only in the eating area but the worst was not having hot water which ironically would be the reason for me not stay there again but for my husband it was no wifi in our room.

Strengths:
- quiet location beside a river
- welcoming and warm staff especially Cynthia the manger who was so welcoming
- natural swimming area by the river
- clean spacious room with AC
- beds more comfortable than average in Colombia
- good water pressure (only cold water for shower)
- walking distance to Tayrona park
- the dogs are so friendly
Stretches
- food: bland and made us feel sick both meals
- accessibility: must physically cross two rivers, one of which is up to one’s waist. Ensure you are prepared to carry your luggage and get wet every time you arrive and leave.

This was such a brilliant experience. Staying in Barranquero felt more special/ secluded than staying in the national park! Waking up to birds and animals and dining under the stars was really cool. The food was excellent and we ate dinner here both nights of our stay as the options were so good. Breakfast was included with delicious coffee/ fruit/ eggs and bread. The natural pool nearby was one of the best and most unique places we've been to bathe and cool down. It is about a 15-20 minute walk to the entrance of Tayrona so a great option if you want to do a day trip to the national park too. Would highly recommend and stay here again. We will miss the friendly dogs too!
The only issue was getting there. Crossing the river took us by surprise as we didn't think it would be as wide or wading through water that was quite so high with all of our belongings. The staff explained after that they had a power cut and no signal so were not able to get in touch with us when we arrived to send a 4x4 jeep to collect us. Maybe arranging this a day ahead with guests would be good? It was not a problem in the end but the river can be a bit daunting initially especially if you have a lot of bags! They ensured we got the jeep back across with our bags on check out. :-) It's also worth noting that power cuts are frequent in the area. It was not a problem during our stay but something to be aware of.

Host was amazing & very welcoming, cooked us delicious food & gave advice on things to do around the hotel/ in the national park
Difficult access & you have to walk across the river with bags. The host did offer to help with this but we managed on our own! It’s all part of the experience!

The rooms were good with a huge bed.
Very overpriced. They don't tell you before you book that you have to cross 2 rivers with almost waist height for one.
The food was very very expensive and basic and since you can't go anywhere else due to the river crossings, you're forced to eat there.

Great hosts! Very friendly staff! Great location, a beautiful room with mango trees in front of the room in a very well kept garden. I was lying in the hammock just listening to the mango's fall on the ground :-). The hosts also got me in contact with a local guide, Laurent (Spanish, French and English speaking) who gave me a great tour of the Sierra Nevada, had a swim in the river and told me lots of interesting facts about the nature, the agriculture and Colombia in general.
Nothing!

Barranquero is a magical place inside the jungle. Bruno, Cynthia, Jeffrey and Daniele are very kind and helpful. The team made our time here so good that we expanded our stay for two nights. The food is great, the rooms are beautiful and equipped with a big terrace each.
The hotel is right at a small river, in which you can swim. All the plants, flowers and birds make this hotel a very special place. You can definitely feel that it is right between two beautiful parks (Tayrona & Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta)
There are some activities besides visiting tayrona (15 minute walk to the entrance, be early), where you can explore the surrounding.
There is nothing to say. Even when the power went out for a few hours, the team managed everything so well and ensured us that even without power we can have dinner and drinks.

Everything. Location, staff was absolutely amazing and lovely (Cintia, Jeffrey and everyone else - Bruno the owner was really nice too). Perfect spot to explore Tayrona and surroundings. Highly recommend and I’ll be back. Thanks yo the team there for a fantastic stay!

the staff is super friendly, giving out happy vibes
the location is amazing, in the middle of the jungle, next to the river.
quiet nights, really a place to relax and enjoy nature
the room was a little damp- making/keeping used towels damp as well
only cold showers (although the outside temperature is high enough for this not to be a problem)
compared to other locations a bit high on price
