Was overall not the best accommodation we had this week

The gradens, the room was clean. Loved the towels cauae they were big
In our room the bedlamps didnt work, on the one bed two of the feet fell out so I removed them all. Went to the restaurant to eat and it took nearly two hours for our food.

The bathroom was not very clean and the toilet seat broken. The changed the room and then zircon did not work, I think the place needs bit of revamp.

Nice location and semi well kept. The restaurant staff (once you manged to get their attention) was good, as was the the food.
a) Their "internal gate" is broken, so each guest is required to push open the iron-gate everytime they want to leave enter property. The gate is on a motor which is broken, there is absolutley no way a woman will be able to open or close the gate by herself.
b) The rooms are next to a dam which means there are mozzies EVERYWHERE ! The room had NO provided pest-control or inspect repellent. I spend the night hunting mosquito's instead of sleeping ! Even a basic can of DOOM would have been nice.
c) Smell. Not sure what they clean the rooms with but it smells like 100% ammonia ! The poor fool that has ashma or any chest and breathing difficulties. It really smelt like an industrial chemical plant.
d) No hot water the next morning. I had hot water to shower the evening, but nothing in the morning ! Nothing like paying for a four star lodge and having to fight mozzies and stucked gates only to have no hot water either !
e) Wifi was almost unusable, only my phone was able to connect. My 3 year old Amazon fire tablet seems did not have the reach to connect to their Wifi.

Restaurant was very good a year ago. Friendly staff they remembered us with our orders on previous occasion.
Restaurant food is good but was better last year. Facilities needs some attention you’d expect better or a bit of change. Load shedding affected us of which they “Perhaps could’ve had a backup generator for the facilities or rooms.

We enjoyed the breakfast and the location was good
4.0 / 10.0
The food was good and staff friendly and helpful. Location is perfect for my spesific needs. Room was neat and comfortable.
This was my 2nd stay at De Werf. On both occasions there was no hot water from the geyser (yes, I did make sure on arrival that it was switched on at the db-board inside the room). In summer one could excuse this once, but twice now? And it is mid-May and cold in the morning.
I spesifically asked (in writing on this app) for a room with a larger fridge and for it to be switched on prior to my arrival. It was not done. I was disappointed with a bar fridge (no freezer) and had to change rooms.
The noise from over the hill untill almost midnight. It was really distrurbing and I was tired after arrival.
All in all a poor show. I am generous with a 4 rating.

Waterponds with birds and bokkies
Had to wait a while at reception before attended to

My word, the black swans, geese, ducks, buck and wild pig were amazing. Sitting outside the room next to the dam watching the animals was so calming. The Restaurant's staff were friendly as well as the ladies at reception. We visited Augrabies Falls, what an experience!
Going back home.

Whilst not the lodges fault, they could have told us at check in that there is no water.
6.0 / 10.0
The way the rooms are situated means limited privacy from next door guests, the next-door people were very loud.

Excellent
The shower in the room did not work properly (hot water very poor pressure)
