I was pleasantly surprised by the owner's thoughtful accommodation of my vegan dietary preferences. They went out of their way to customize the breakfast menu according to my needs, demonstrating exceptional kindness and attentiveness to their guests. This personalized touch significantly enhanced my experience and made my stay all the more enjoyable.
Beds can be better and more comfy.

Cozy ambience
TV is a bit small but good enough since it’s not the main point of staying at the hotel

The pension was very clean and well managed. Breakfast was extra but well priced and excellent. 5-10 min short walk to ski area. They provided pick up and drop off at the train station, and also helped us deliver our luggages to the next location.

Comfy rooms set up for people who enjoy the outdoors. The owners were a lovely young couple who were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is Western style (sorry Japan but I'm over fish and pickles at dawn!) and the whole place had the feel of a quiet country pub.
Nothing - would highly recommend this place

Taka and his family made the property feel like home for our six night stay, we enjoyed a delicious home-cooked breakfast every morning before a short five min walk to Goryu ski slopes. Taka took us to the laundromat during our stay so we could wash out clothes and cooked the most wonderful dinner on the weekend.

The property has a nice cozy feeling and the owners are very kind, considerate and helpful. The breakfast was great and the kids really enjoyed it. Would have loved to stay longer, we will have to come back.
It’s perfect how it is.

Breakfast was a western style (Japanese take) that varied. Usually some breads, egg or omelet, salad and some meat. Very good service.
We would have liked the option of a Japanese style breakfast. However, what was provided was great.

Pension Bonnard definitely exceeded our expectations. We booked because of the price and location. What impressed us was the warmth and soul nourishment that Taka, his parents, Kayo and Satsuki provided in the beautiful pension nestled in the snow. Highly recommend the breakfast daily for 1100 yen and the dinner at least once (crazy good value). We strolled through a beautiful quiet snow laden forest studded with other pensions to restaurants and the onsen after the slopes daily which were were with in a 1 - 2 km radius. I believe we stayed in their smallest room, I'm 6'4" and stooped a little in the bathroom but was certainly still comfortable, with a window view of the snowy forest. There is a personal locker for skis/boards and you can take a shuttle from goryu escal plaza which is the closest resort to other resorts in the valley. We walked to goryu daily very close but up moderate incline, we changed in to ski/board boots at the resort with lockers available from 100 yen.
We caught the bus from Shinjuku and walked from the stop. We hired gear from Rhythm, it is a little far to change gear and there are rentals much closer to the accomodation. Would not recommend for lads chasing beers as it's a trek to the night life area in Happo. All and all I would highly recommend this stay to couples or small groups looking for a relaxed stay primary looking for skiing with some good food and very wholesome accomodation (+super amazing hosts).

Everything is good. The room is warm and clean. Their breakfast and dinner is awesome. Must Try ! Best service and hospitality ever. They are Willing to assist you with anything you require to make your stay a wonderful one.
Thank you Taka-san for picking us up and sending us back early in the morning. Your assistance is very much appreciated. Thank you Kayo-san for lending us the sled and toys. We will definately make a return trip and stay longer the next time. Till then, stay safe and take care. Miss you all.
Nothing.

the owner of the hotel really nice. They tried their best to make us comfortable. they picked us up from hakuba station and the last day they take me to bus station and helped us with luggage . and if they go out to run sth the same time i go out for ski they will take us to ski resort. overall their hospitality is beyond our expectations. if i ll back to hakuba I will stay with them again

the location of this hotel is very close to ski area (~7 mins walking distance). The staff were super amazing and very friendly, they provided us with all required information for the ski (including some hints for discounts). All in all is a very great place for its value!
There was a slope next to the hotel made it extremely difficult for my car to go up with the snow and I had to install chains, so make sure to have chains if you planning to visit in winter. Also there was only one small pillow per bed, it would been great to have a relatively larger one.

The owners were super accommodating and friendly. They always asked if we needed help with anything, and provided a free shuttle to drop us off at the ski slopes and the bus stop. The place itself was also really cozy and the surroundings were gorgeous as well.

Taka-san and his family were exceptional host. Only recently have they opened up the Pension to the international guest as they were concerned about the language barriers. Taka-san and Kayo can speak English very well, so if you can communicate in English, you will not have a problem. The Pension is very homely. Taka-san helped us out so much, picking us up or taking to / from Escal Plaza. Taking us out to dinner locations, for laundry and helping with pharmacy trips when needed. On the last night we eat at the Pension. All I can say is, try it out. Don't need to go out for a dinner. Taka-san is an exceptional chef. Its well worth it and not expensive. Our son had his birthday while we were there. Taka-san bought him a birthday day present and cake. We were so grateful. Thanks Taka-san for making our stay so memorable.
