About this cottage rental
With self check in and check out and situated in the owners’ 2 acre grounds which includes an orchard that guests can enjoy on their own, this attractive beamed, spacious detached character property is perfect for a relaxing break. The property is accessed via its own external oak open tread stairs. We have fibre broadband with the Little Brook WiFi router connected directly to it. It is wonderfully finished with a recently refurbished balcony off the living area affording countryside views and conveniently set back from the A28. There are many country walks directly from the property, several fine pubs are within a 5 - 15 minute drive and beaches are around a 20 minute drive away. Around 20 minutes to Battle, with its famous battlefield and abbey, built to commemorate the Battle of Hastings in 1066. Relive one of the most famous days in history, and join the 1066 walk. Take a trip on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway from Tenterden, also known as ’The Jewel of the Weald’, through the Rother Levels to Bodiam, one of the most evocative moated castles (National Trust), built in 1385. Discover the one time coastal smuggling town of Hastings and medieval Cinque Port town of Rye just 8 miles away with its cobbled streets. Picturesque sand dunes and interesting wildlife can be explored at Camber Sands around 30 minutes away.

We were pleasantly suprised by the hospitality of the hosts. Super cosy and characterfull cottage. Perfect getaway for 2.

Little Brook is the perfect place if you are after a peaceful few days away from the hustle and bustle of life. We did not meet the owners as they were away but the dog/house sitter, Brian was extremely helpful and welcoming, the 3 dogs were so friendly and funny. The cottage was fully equipped with everything you would need and very clean. It is decorated lovely with extra thick curtains and blinds and the bed was extremely comfortable . The gardens and orchard were lovely to walk around and take in all the lovely plants. It was so nice to sit out on the balcony in the evening and listen to the different birds and watch the sheep in the adjacent field. There is so much to do and see and in our 3 days we had here, we explored Rye, Dungeness, Hastings and Battle as well as a couple of the many farm shops near by. We would love to visit again and would definitely recommend it, thank you.

Lovely property and friendly, helpful hosts.

Perfect out of the way, spacious but cosy property. Even though the weather was incredibly wet and windy, we had a lovely few days- combination of slobbing comfortably and visiting local places of interest!

This place is very cute and cozy, in a very lovely location with parking on site. There's a kitchen if you want to cook for yourself, and it's a nice space to just hang out. My husband and I particularly enjoyed sitting outside and stargazing as we don't normally get those in London!
The only things we didn't like was that there were spiders everywhere (thankfully my husband is willing to get rid of them) and also it would benefit from being a bit better stocked. They provided dish soap, but no handsoap in the bathroom and no rubbish bags. It also said tea and coffe was provided, but the instant coffee we found was very old.
Overall enjoyed, but if i had been by myself with all those spiders it would have been a bigger problem for me.

Highly recommend for a tranquil break.

My wife and I spent a week here, 5-12 June 2023, in order to explore this part of East Sussex. It was very comfortable, clean and well-equipped. The balcony was perfect for sunny breakfasts and for sundowners. As a central location for visiting neighbouring sites of interest (Battle Abbey, Bodiham Castle, etc.) it could not be bettered. Its location close to Hastings was a bonus as well, in our view one of the nicer coastal resorts in the south of England. The owners of the property were always close-by should anything happen (it didn’t!), but were not intrusive.
We can highly recommend this property. It is ideal for a couple wishing to self-cater, have a relax and/or explore the wider area.

We loved it here. Was so relaxing and beautiful. Hosts were lovely, kind and welcoming. We didn’t want to come home. Absolute beautiful scenery and peaceful and calm.

We spent two very pleasant weeks in this atmospheric holiday home. We immediately felt at home. It was very pleasant to talk to Janet and Grant, they were always ready with interesting suggestions tailored to our needs. We enjoyed our walks in their beautiful garden. There is much to see in the area, especially for those who enjoy gardens and historic buildings, but there are also plenty of quiet and easy walks that almost literally start from their garden. Highly recommended!

Very accurate description and welcoming hosts. Basically a large bedroom/living room with a downstairs kitchen all in a very nice location.
Easy to find (east side A28). To make it easier I used Google Street View and entered the exact location on my Sat Nav.

We had a lovely stay at Little Brook, the cottage had a very welcoming feel and the balcony is great for having breakfast with a view. Beautiful countryside, great for cycling. We received clear instructions to find the house and to check in from Janet and Grant, though we'd recommend adding the property on Google Maps to make it even easier.

We found Little Brook to be Cute, Clean and comfortable with everything needed for your stay. (With the exception of soap or handwash in the bathroom sink).
Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet stay in a good location.

This property in such a beautiful and peaceful location! We had the best sleep
It has everything you need in terms of comfort and the hosts were lovely, even leaving a yummy chocolate cake for us on arrival
Rye town is a short drive away as is Bodiam Castle, both definitely worth a visit
Will definitely go again

I just loved the property, cosy and quiet. Janet and Grant were lovely and helpful. Great location if you want to rest from the noise of the city. Plenty of walks and things to see around the area. We had great weather and so were able to enjoy beautiful starry skies at night-something impossible to see in the city.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely recommend to friends :)

Beautiful property set in a tranquil area but within easy reach of all the local attractions. Hosts were very helpful with directions and checking in. Highly recommended and look forward to returning

This was our second visit to the property and enjoyed it just as much as before. We had a good time at the Rye jazz festival which we would recommend. The property is properly in the countryside but close enough to everything we needed.

Little brook is very characteristic & was clean & well equipped. The property had lovely grounds. You will need a car if you stay here. The downside we felt was that the house was quite difficult to find from the road, even more difficult at night time. It really needs the house name illuminated or a fluorescent sign to make it visible as you approach. The tall gates had to be manually opened by removing two elastic ties, which for elderly or someone not very mobile would be quite difficult. This also applies to the narrow wooden steps leading up to the annex. It also needs some outside lighting as one evening when we returned the whole area was in darkness. The owner had left milk, tea, coffee & a delicious cake which was most appreciated.
4.8
The flat was set in a spectacular garden positioned over the owners’ garage and was completely self contained. The flat was very cosy and spacious for two people. Deck chairs were provided for use in the garden which would have been wonderful if the weather had allowed. The flat is very central for site seeing being just a few miles from most places and situated away from the daily hustle and bustle. We were very comfortable in here and would definitely try to rebook if we found ourselves back in the Rye area.

What an amazing few days relaxing had everything we needed
So can't wait to go there again

We found little brook was perfect exactly as the photos on the website show. The hosts are perfect. friendly and helpful if needed.
The place was well equipped and very well presented. We really enjoyed our stay and would fully recommend it.
While there we visited Bateman house which was the home to Rudyard Kipling, Camber sands an amazing sandy beach with sand dunes, Bodiham Castle very impressive and Rye Old Town. We also went to the Rye Nature reserve.

A perfect place to stay with friendly hosts and a lovely garden to relax in. The kitchen had everything you could think of to make cooking easy.
The three well behaved little girls were a bonus when they greeted you with their waggy tails.

A wonderful break in such lovely country surroundings, made even more special by our lovely and very helpful hosts. Even the lovely dogs were most welcoming. Looking forward to going back.
