My cousin and I really enjoyed Piccolo Cottage. It was very clean and decorated nicely. The beds were comfortable and the main bathroom was large. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our stay pleasant. Our only complaint was we think it would be very helpful to have a shelf installed over the sink in the small bathroom. Otherwise everything was perfect and we loved the area!

My family and I enjoyed our stay in this sweet little cottage. The location simply cannot be beat. We started and ended each day on the gorgeous beach, enjoying a brief, albeit heavy trafficked, walk to/from. The house was outfitted with beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. We were also an easy walk from lunch at the Rootbeer Barrell, coffee on the charming main street and other amenities. Communications with the property management company were superb and check-in/check-out straight forward and simple.
I was tempted to jump on the rating conga line, but have some feedback that may be helpful to others. First, the bed in the main bedroom has the softest mattress I have ever slept on. My back has been complaining ever since I departed. The pillows were also uncomfortable.
I had read a review from a year ago detailing some elements lacking in the kitchen. My family and I really enjoy cooking together and enjoying leisurely meals around a table. The property manager had responded that they would let the owners know of the concerns that had been shared, but clearly there was no response. There is no pot in the entire kitchen that is large enough to accommodate boiling a box of pasta, or an ear of corn that has not been snapped in two. Purchasing a 4-piece set of pots and pans would not be costly and would go a long ways toward ameliorating the usability of the kitchen. I also think that one somewhat thin, somewhat small bath towels/person is inadequate for a 5-day stay.

This was a beautiful little cottage that was very comfortable and endearing. There was nothing that I didn’t like.

The cottage was quaint and really close to the beach. We really enjoyed our stay and loved the atmosphere of the town. Our only drawback was there were not shades for the overhead lights so it stayed light in the rooms past bedtime for our kids which made it a little challenging for them to sleep. Other than that, great outdoor space, enough room to hang out together, and many great things to do around town.

Beautifully decorated and very comfortable. Location is amazing; we walked to the beach. Only issues were master shower not working properly and floors overall were dirty (but everything else was very clean). Loved staying there! Highly recommend!

I loved Piccolo Cottage! It was the perfect size for one person. It was perfectly appointed, even has sharp knives. The cottage is well located, close to Douglas beach and an easy bike ride to the root beer place, the grocery store and downtown Douglas. The rental company was frequently in touch. I liked feeling supported as a single traveler. Thank you!

We very much enjoyed our stay at this quiet neighborhood house just a 5 minute walk from Douglas Beach. Though the house is not that large, the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen are quite spacious. In addition, there is a small living room and an enclosed, 3-season porch. The house is furnished with modern appliances and many thoughtful extras.
The realty agent for the property was attentive and responsive. The morning after we arrived we noticed that the microwave was not working. We called in at 9:30 AM and by 4 PM the problem was taken care of. We appreciated the quick service.

The Piccolo Cottage was amazing for our girls trip. The house was so cute and perfect. Douglas is a quaint and beautiful town! We enjoyed walking to the beach! The owners provided such amazing details of the best restaurants and activities nearby! We are already planning our next adventure!!

Clean and tidy with whimsical, fun decor— easy walks to the beach or along Lakeshore drive. We enjoyed Douglas too, as it was less crowded than Saugatuck for Labor Day. Sunsets were spectacular. Will be back! Thank you

The property needs painting. The chairs in the dining area are uncomfortable. The cooking pots and pans are NOT up to speed in terms of available pots of a reasonable size for cooking pasta. The property should supply better towels for the bathrooms.
The master bath shower was not usable.
The property should provide coffee (there were two coffee makers but no coffee for them).
The property should supply additional cleaning materials (soap for the washer and dish washer) and not have the renter buy such at the local store. We had to buy pods for the washer which we have no use for in our home and we used both pods for the dish washer and generally just hand washed the dishes.
The area is lovely, the proximity to a public beach is a plus, but I feel that the price for this rental was overly high.

Most comfortable place! 2 blocks to small beach. We loved it! Central to lots of activities and 5 minute drive to Oval Beach. 8 minutes to Saugatuck.

We had a great time staying here for our Girls Trip! We loved the cottage and it was very clean and had great spaces to hang out and a great kitchen. We also appreciated the thoughtful touches, like having beach chairs available for our use. We wished there were a few extra towels and blankets but other than that, no complaints. I would highly recommend staying here to anyone and if we ever come back to this area we will look this place up!!

The Piccolo cottage was even better than the pictures. Every detail about the property was thought out. The house was gorgeous. Close driving distance to town or a quick walk to the beach. I would definitely stay here again and recommend others to stay here.

We came to the area for Tulip Time in Holland. It was the perfect location to be out of the craziness of the festival. Great walking/biking trail less than 100 feet from the house. It was a nice surprise to be SO close to the lake also. Definitely woule stay here again, the house was small but was perfert for 3-4 peolpe.

Really lovely getaway. The cottage sits on a quiet street where you can watch the deer graze through in the morning/evening. A short walk to Lake Michigan - it is very peaceful and rejuvenating. The house has great space and is equipped with plenty of puzzles and DVD's if its rainy out or you're traveling with a group. The kitchen has everything necessary to make meals.
Checkin was very easy and the house was VERY clean upon arrival. Having 2 bathrooms was wonderful. The deck in the back yard is very private...but having said that, the neighborhood is very quiet!
It's a great location if you're looking to be close enough to Lake Michigan and still want to get into Douglas/Saugatuck - both VERY easy driving...lots of great trails in the area.

We had a wonderful stay at the Piccolo cottage! It was the perfect size for our family of four and was a short walk to the beach. It was clean, quiet, well decorated and the beds were very comfortable-which is all we could ask for! We can't wait to go back!

Truly enjoyed our stay at this property. Proximity to the beach and other attractions is unbeatable. Close to everything but far away enough for a relaxing, quiet time. Would love to come back!!

The Piccolo cottage was a perfect fit for us. We loved the location, close to Lake Michigan, as well as access to many beautiful walking paths and not that far from both Douglas and Saugatuck. THe kitchen was well stocked, perhaps a few more dish towels (we didn't use the dishwasher) would have come in handy but all in all, we had everything we needed to cook. In spite of it being in the midst of a neighborhood, we felt like we had a lot of privacy and it was pleasantly quiet. We would love to return some day. Thanks

This was the perfect little house for our family of 4! We rented bikes for our 3 day stay and barely got back into our car. It’s a perfect location to walk to the beach, ride bikes into Douglas and Saugatuck, or just sit back and relax in your quaint, clean space. We enjoyed the great shopping and restaurants, a 2 hour sail on Lake Michigan, and a sand dune buggy ride! We loved every minute of our stay and will come again.

All went well with the arrangements except it was somewhat difficult to understand the person in the Philippines for the initial reservation due to the language difference. Since I wasn’t accustomed to renting with vrbo in the past, it was a bit unsettling giving my credit card information to someone I had trouble understanding.

Fall Break in Douglas
House was cozy and had everything we needed for a long weekend visiting family in Saugatuck. Short walk to Douglas beach with morning coffee and for sunsets was a nice bonus. And, the beach is back!

Beautiful house close to the Lake!@
We so enjoyed staying at this beautiful, comfortable, and very clean house. It is a beautiful house with skylights in the master bedroom and sliding glass doors in each bedroom leading out to the patio. And it is about two blocks from Lake MIchigan. And for bike riders-- you can ride right up against the lake. Gorgeous. Thank you so much!

Great cottage near the lake
We really enjoyed Piccolo Cottage. The home has everything you will need to enjoy a few days near the lake.
The little enclosed porch with sofa was a perfect spot for morning coffee. The deck is nice and the biggest plus is the proximity to the beach! Go for the sunsets.

Cannot rate this high enough! The house was adorable and clean. Loved the album created with recommendations which made scheduling our vacation a breeze. The only complaint is that the time flew by too quickly!

Awesome Lake Michigan getaway
Piccolo Cottage is a wonderful place to stay -- a charming, quiet, extremely well-appointed and tasteful little house that is an easy - and lovely - 5 minute walk to Douglas public beach, and about a 10-minute drive to Oval Beach in Saugatuck. Great backyard deck. Piccolo basically had everything we wanted --would highly reccomend!
