About this cabin rental
A charming early 1900's log cabin with a wood stove with sweeping views of Rangeley Lake. 125 feet from the shore. Wrap around deck, partially covered, with Adirondack chairs, porch swing and two picnic tables. Gas grill on porch. Fire pit.
There are 2 bedrooms with double beds and a loft with 2 single beds, ideal for younger folk. The bath has a claw foot tub with shower. Dishes, pots, pans, utensils, linens provided. DirecTV.
A non-motorized boat launch is available, shared waterfront access gradual entry ideal for swimming. Deck and dock at the center of the property shared with our other two cabins. Canoe, kayaks available for guests. Dock not suitable for mooring vessels due to prevailing winds.
Like many seasonal cabins on Rangeley, Awahnee draws its water from the lake. This is fine for dishes, showers, etc., but we recommend purchasing drinking water or obtaining it at a nearby spring (directions provided). Main heat source is Jotul fireplace. Space heaters also available to take the chill off.
Wildlife sightings including deer, loons and occasionally moose on the property. Surrounded by birch, spruce and maple trees. Lupine everywhere in late spring, early summer.
The town of Rangeley is a charming New England town. Many restaurants, gift shops, antiques, IGA grocery, farmer's market, fish truck from the coast twice a week, movie theater, ice cream stand, wonderful library, town park with boat launch. Historical museum in Oquossoc is not to be missed! Scenic drives, moose watching, many hikes of all levels, Appalachian Trial is ten miles from the cabin.
AVAILABLE MID-MAY-LATE OCTOBER.
PROPERTY IS ADJACENT TO PEARL COTTAGE (#217297) AND LOON COTTAGE (#217364) WHICH ARE ALSO LISTED WITH VRBO.

The photos and description on VRBO must be outdated. I understand there are 3 properties together but each listing needs its own photos and accurate description. You are not right on the water. Although, the kitchen had alot there was no can opener. We were left with 3 pieces of paper towel on a roll and nothing more. No instructions on how to use certain items. We left 2 days early because it just was not as relaxing as we had hoped.

We enjoyed fishing, swimming, and lounging in the sun in this peaceful spot right on the lake. The dock was perfect, as well as the swimming area which was a great spot for the kids to go in. Just love this Rangeley area!

For us it was perfect, cozy and quiet! We really only had to bring our food supplies! Lots of places to hike in the area, if you like doing that. The lake is so beautiful too. You can kayak, canoe or just relax with a nice swim! We had a great time! If hiking or relaxing is in your agenda for a getaway, this is the place!

If you like rustic, which i do, this property is a nice find. It is part of a group of 3 cabins, all of which are vacation rentals. You share waterfront facilities, including the boats. the boats are cheap and not very good; the paddles were adequate although there was only one adult kayak paddle for two kayaks. My advise: Bring your own paddles at least (
which we did). If you need heat, you have a wood burning stove and a couple of space heaters. I loved the stove and used it every day (early Setpember). There was a new camp being constructed right next door and an earth mover coming down the steep dirt road made quite a rackett coming and going. But the lakefront is beautiful and you're right down the hill from a very nice golf course. The cabin is dark, but well equipped and the wrap around porch was great. You have to bring your own water or visit a spring to obtain potable water, something we did not know until we got there.

Picture was very deceiving. I assumed I was right on the lake with no other cabins around. Also thought the canoes would still be there.

Nice location but cleaning standards were not high. We were greeted with a handwritten note on a piece of cardboard that said "welcome" " You have no hand towels or washcloths. I will bring them tomorrow." signed, housekeeper.
Clean up needs some help. There was a box at the front door which looked like a wood box but it was filled with trash and old newspapers.
We were disappointed to find cobwebs in our bedroom.
We paid $75 for cleaning service. Not too happy about that.

Its a wonderful area in Rangeley for outdoor enthusiasts. The kayaks and canoe, paddle boats, life preservers are all in good , clean condition and we enjoyed using the kayaks and swimming when it was warm enough.
If its going to be cool, bring warm clothes and ask how to use the wood stove. We were ok with the space heaters as it did cool down but if weather is cold would need the wood stove going.
IIt felt like going back in time staying in a log cabin!

Peaceful, quiet, loved hearing the loon calls often, neighbors not too close so our time felt very private. We cooked most of our meals there, but close to town for eating out. It was great!

Where do I start?! Everything was perfect. Just what my wife and I needed. The way the cabin was left for us was perfect! Cut up firewood ready to burn, propane tank for the grill, towels and linens on every bed. All of it was just perfect. Hopefully we will be making this a yearly trip! So worth it. We can't wait to come back! Thank you so much David!

Great time in Rangeley and the cabin was perfect

This is a beautiful cabin right on the north shore of Lake Rangeley. The property location cannot be beaten and the cabin itself is spacious and though rustic, very comfortable. The beds and couches made for a fantastic night's sleep and the kitchen is well-stocked for cooking. The wrap-around porch has great chairs and a view of the water. We didn't have a chance to use the outdoor fire pit, but the indoor wood fire oven kept the whole cabin warm during one of the colder nights. David provided great local information about sights and restaurants and has apparently owned and/or managed these cabins for many years. His attention to the cabins and the properties is very evident. This is one of the best and most unique vacation properties we've ever stayed at!

I was so looking forward to returning to Maine and spending time at Rangeley Lake. This trip had turned into our honeymoon and with 2020 being very challenging, for many reasons, rest and relaxation was a top priority. The property was very clean and nestled in the trees not too far from the lake where from the dock you had an excellent view of Saddleback mountain. The woodshed was full of split wood and we were thankful for the wood-burning stove as it was a bit chilly in the evening. The ceiling fan helped to circulate the warm air and we were very comfortable. David was very responsive when we had questions and I couldn't recommend this cabin more highly. Thank you for allowing us the pleasure, David!

The owner was very quick to respond! Cozy cabin in a wooded area on a hill sloping down to the lake with Adirondack chairs on a stoney beach! Fire pit on site with more Adirondack chairs outside, Jotul fireplace, microwave, full stove, comfortable beds, older cabin fully loaded!Nice relaxing vacation !

Overall great experience. The view from the beach access and dock is breath taking. The cabin itself was as described but the cleanliness had room for improvement. I have higher expectations given the current state of the world as we all should. Fully stocked with everything you could need for cooking and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. A definite uptah camp feel ("up to" for you non-Mainers). Very dog friendly however the deck is not good on the paws. The spacing is at least an inch between boards, to save money I presume. This creates a gap big enough for paws to go through. I even caught my foot on them several times.

The entire process was easy and the communication was great. Rangeley is an amazing little town full of great people and the location of this cabin is fantastic.
We really enjoyed our stay.

David's camp is a perfect vacation spot! It is on the lake but a good enough distance that if your bring small children you do not have to excessively worry that they have too much access to the great big Rangeley Lake. The cabin is beautiful inside and out. There are cabins around you however there is more than enough room for children and pets on site to run and play. The area is close to town but feels secluded at the same time. We loved it!!!!! Highly recommend.

The log cabin was clean and cozy. The wood burning stove was a huge factor in our choosing this cabin. Also loved the clawfoot tub... it adds to the ambience! The location was perfect with Rangeley Lake at our feet. David was helpful with local information, directions and recommendations and checked in with us during our stay. We would definitely stay here again. Sad to have to leave so soon! The only downside was that we didn't have a moose sighting! Kathy, David and Madison

We really enjoyed our stay. Lake water is clear and clean with a nice swimming spot on the shared beach. The cabin was rustic but clean and the kitchen was very well stocked. lots of places to explore in the area.

No fault of the property that our stay was limited by bad weather. We wanted to get some fishing in; managed only 1 day. Had good family quality time anyway.

Very cozy if not the most modern log cabin. The area and closeness to the lake is perfect for a relaxing quiet vacation. Stayed there in October and had a wonderful time and fall foliage. Would definitely recommend it. The owner has been very friendly and helpful.

We had a great, and all too short, stay. The cabin is cozy and inviting. The lake is amazing and Rangeley and the surrounding area offer so much to do. Can't wait to return.

The owner gave detailed information about the cottage and great directions. We enjoyed the front porch, fire area and old claw-fitted bathtub.

I was lucky enough to stay at this wonderful Cabin with my wife and kids. We had a great time. you have every thing you need here. the cabin was extremely clean and well kept. Great directions provided by the owner David. If you love the outdoors you could come back for years and still have so much to do. We rented a boat on the lake one day. Hiked another. drove up to saddleback one night to watch the meteor showers. this place has is all. My Family and I cant wait to go back. This place and its owner David get an A in our book.

This is a nice cabin well appointed with plenty of dry firewood for the fire, which was appreciated. There were a few housekeeping issues that we experienced with our stay that the owner took care of - I appreciated his desire to make sure any issues were resolved.
The cabin is very convenient to Rangeley. If that is important to you, then this cabin is for you. If utter privacy is important, this may not be the cabin for you and you may want to stay further away from town. Although you can't really tell from the pictures, it is a little neighborhood of cabins, each a few hundred feet apart, and there is a cabin directly in front of this one - so you do get a view of the lake from the cabin, but you also get a view of the other cabin.
