About this house rental

Alta Mira sits on a quiet tree-lined street in Katoomba, surrounded by its lovely gardens and neighbouring Federation style houses. A renovation several years ago carefully preserved the best of the period features, such as the original imported English canopy bath in the main bathroom, while adding a gorgeous new modern kitchen and another modern bathroom. Alta Mira can sleep up to 13 people (2 x Queen bedrooms, 1 x Double bedroom, 4 Singles in one bedroom, plus a separate sunroom with a Double and a Single bed.) There are two bathrooms servicing the house: the original Edwardian bathroom with glass canopy bathtub and pull-chain toilet, plus a modern bath with separate shower and spa bath.

Other features for our guests' enjoyment include a nearly new large flatscreen LCD television and BluRay player, complimentary WIFI access, a separate TV which runs the games box, two Bluetooth enabled speakers, and a period piano for music buffs, plus Books, games, videogames for the gamebox and DVDs.

Alta Mira is centrally heated throughout the house, including heated towel rails in both bathrooms. There is also a gas log fire in the dining for great ambience and convenience as well. There are electric blankets supplied on all beds.

Alta Mira is just a few minutes' walk to Katoomba Street, with its cafes, restaurants and shops, but is tucked away in a quiet corner of Katoomba. Perfect for a mountains getaway, you get the best of both worlds. Go for a stroll to Katoomba Town Centre, take a slightly longer walk to the Three Sisters, or just wander through Alta Mira's private gardens and then curl up in Alta Mira's centrally heated and beautifully furnished interior.

It was a freezing mid-winter weekend so 11 of us (4 couples and 3 kids) really enjoyed this large warm comfortable house with great kitchen, dining and lounge facilities. Lovely to return to and relax in after a brisk walk! One limitation for some groups would be that although it has 2 bathrooms, one of them is only accessible by walking through 2 bedrooms.

We had a fabulous time in this beautiful, character filled house. The weather was horrible when we arrived, but the house was warm and welcoming. Sun came out next morning and we got to explore the gorgeous gardens. Great kitchen with plenty of equipment if cooking is your thing. Close to everything. Plenty of room for everyone. Great hosts with super easy check in. We’ll return 😁

We really enjoyed our stay, great kitchen and all the extras for cooking for a large group. Only downside was front bedroom was missing a curtain which doesn't help with sleeping in. Also doors need oiling as some creaminess. Overall house is beautifully restored and well maintained.

As a large family group we were very comfortable in this historic home. We had ample room and the house is generously supplied with lovely linen as well as household staples. On a cold week-end the home was comfortingly warm. We’ll be back!

The property met our needs very well. The crisp white linen on all beds was lovely. The house had a delightful feel and was beautifully warm. The different spaces catered very well for our diverse family group. The layout and access to the second bathroom put a bit of pressure on the main bathroom. We would definitely book this property again.

Alta Mira is a beautiful old house with a colourful history in a quiet street in central Katoomba. It was perfect for our needs with large living areas and space to spread out. Would definitely recommend for large groups who want some space.

We travel to the Blue Mountains every July as a group of approx 12 adults and kids. This was our first time staying at Alta Mira and we loved it. It was such a great space. Lots of room for the kids and adults to hang out comfortably without getting in each other's way. Lovely bedrooms and cosy communal areas. Very nice kitchen with all the utensils that you could possibly need. Tina was helpful and very nice to deal with.

Arrived to find a dishwasher full of dirty dishes and could not work the machine so had to hand wash someone else's mess. Contacted the Owners but did not hear from them all weekend. This property is in a great location and easy to walk into town and local sites. There is an eclectic mix of china, glassware and kitchen ware but was fine for our night in by the fire in the dining room. The house is warm, cosy and spacious but could do with some TLC.

Our extended family of 14 had a great weekend. The house is really warm, and very comfortable. Sofa bed very uncomfortable so take a blow up mattress if you need the extra bed. The yard is lovely but isn't secure.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend away at Altimira. I was there on a girls weekend and there were 12 of us and the house was ideal for a visit. Cosy and secure, I would recommend this location for a group holiday.

This place is just beautiful. We had Christmas here and the 11 of us stayed so comfortably here. It's close to town and the hosts are so wonderful and cooked us a turkey and vegggies for Christmas lunch that was delicious! So much space and a beautiful yard with lots of space and reason to be outside. Highly recommended!

Family group of 4 couples had a comfortable weekend in this house. Great lounge area for a group and the kitchen had everything we needed. Beautiful grounds with daffodils, jonquils and camellias - Sept is the perfect time to visit. Located close enough to walk to Echo Point or the main street. We will be back.
