About this house rental
Casa Alata is a charming apartment which faces the sun and the sea. It sleeps four people. From Casa Alata you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi. Casa Alata is 70 square meters (750 square feet). It features a spacious private terrace with a view of the sea, air conditioning (please read description below to check in which rooms the units are installed), winter heating and WI-FI Internet access.
You will be roughly 3 km (1.8 miles) from Amalfi. You will find the closest restaurant at 1.5 km (roughly 1 mile), shops at 300 meters (990 feet), the stop for the local bus and the SITA bus a few meters (feet) away and the closest beach at roughly 1 km (0.6 miles) including 400 stairway steps. You will reach Casa Alata from the street level going down a 40-meters (130-feet) public walkway that includes approximately 35 stairway steps.
You will not need a car to stay at Casa Alata. If you do have one, you will be able to park it for a fee, in a garage. Private parking must be reserved ahead of time; we kindly ask you to let our staff know, so that we can make the necessary arrangements for you (availability is limited; if you think you will need parking please inquire before placing your reservation). If necessary, you can park along the public roads (the actual distance might vary depending on the availability of parking spaces).
Casa Alata is located in a prominent position on a picturesque stretch of rocky coast about 100 meters (about 328 feet) above sea level. It overlooks the sea really close by.
Casa Alata is part of a small hamlet of old houses gathered on the top of a promontory, all facing the sea and the sun and also surrounded by typical terraced gardens where lemon trees are cultivated. Here live the inhabitants of Amalfi, with their tranquil lifestyle away from crowds of tourists. The houses are distributed around a tiny old church and connected through stone stairways which descend from the upper part of the coast to the area down below, the beach and the sea.
At least once, if you are in good shape, leave the car and the bus aside and go down towards the sea through this old pathway. It is a walk which will fill with you joy and energy: throughout the whole path you will be embraced by the vivid colors and perfumes of the Mediterranean vegetation and attracted by the enchanting scenery of blue sea right in front of you…
You will have several choices regarding beaches to go to. You can take the bus and reach the beach of Amalfi. From there it is also possible to take small boats which take bathers to splendid small inlets along the coast.
One of these inlets, the so-called beach of Santa Croce, is reached even on foot from Villa Alata, and the walk is definitely one not to be missed if you feel like climbing down 400 steps dug into the rock overlooking the sea.
To go back up you can get small boats which in only 10 minutes take you on a splendid ride on the sea to the port of Amalfi, where you can take the bus to go back to the house. During spring/summer all the beaches feature open restaurants and bars, rental of umbrellas and deck chairs, and also small boats connecting to places nearby.
In Amalfi, you can also go scuba diving and practice water sports.

Casa Alata was a great place to spend some days on the Amalfi coast.
All in all, i would stay here again. We chose this place for the view and it did not disappoint! The view from the terrace was spectacular. Just be prepared for walking and hills!

Perfect vacation
We had an unforgetable vacation. My husband and I (both 51) and our 22 year old son spent a week in this vacation rental. The villa was just as described. The set up of the bedrooms was great for us and we simply walked through the outdoor patio when we wanted to allow our son more privacy as he had the room that we would walk through to get to our room. The outdoor patio was unreal and the views outstanding. Wifi was strong on the patio and in the large living area/ kitchen. The bedrooms struggled to get a wifi signal but that was fine with us. We enjoy a very active vacation so we took the pathway down from the villa (rather than up to the street level). This pathway is a beautiful path that leads toward the bell tower. You can then walk up stairs to get to the little market by the bell tower rather than brave the busy street. You can also go down before you get to the bell tower. This is a steep descent with five pretty impressive flights of stairs. This will take you to the amalfi coast road in which you can then walk into amalfi. From the villla, down the stairs and walking into town was about two miles. The hike back up will test your fitness level and we were excited that each day the trek back up this steep stairway got easier. The other option would be to take the bus into town. If you are active, this villa is perfect. If you were to only use the bus, that might be a little less ideal of a location although the busses certainly go on a regular schedule. We hiked alot - there is a gorgeous hiking trail from Amalfi that takes you up to the old paper mille. You will see crazy amazing waterfalls, working mules, abandoned castles - it's beautiful. We also did the path of the gods which was gorgeous but tricky for us to find where to catch the bus. We walked an additional 3 miles after the hike to find the bus stop and those additional 3 miles left us all a bit grumpy and exhausted. Next time, we will plan better. We did a private tour of pompeii which was so fun. We did not rent a car and just walked ALOT! That was perfect for us. We will return for a longer stay - the only thing we will bring is a small sound machine for night as there are several dogs that bark nonstop all night and that impacted our sleep a bit. We will definately return - seriously, this was the best vacation of our lives! The amalfi coast is amazing and this villa was perfect for us (for an active vacation).

Awesome place away from the noise and people!
We were two couple that stayed at this apartment for 12 days. We found the setup to be perfect. The en suite bed/baths worked perfectly! The Terrance was awesome for relaxing and watching the boats come and go. The bus stop was very close and was a must to get around. We did not rent a car after reading reviews and are glad that we didn’t! The roads are small and with all the buses and scooters, it was crazy! There was a market that was a short walk and a cafe/bar that was just steps away! The owners were very accommodating. Not to be missed, is their restaruant...it was awesome! They even run a shuttle to and from the restaruant!

Casa Alata was a little bit of heaven
Casa Alata was a little bit of heaven. The apartment itself is beautiful, peaceful and very comfortable, well-appointed with everything you could need, spacious rooms, equipped kitchen, laundry, Wi-Fi and such. But the terrace is simply magnificent. We watched the sunrise, ate breakfast outside, enjoyed the warmth of the day, had cocktails outside, watched the sunset and the moon rise over the water with the sparkling lights on the hillside behind the house, and marveled at the perfect view of the Amalfi Coast.
The location roughly in the middle of the Amalfi Coast was perfect for sight-seeing in both directions and we were so pleased to have the garage across the street, as we drove everywhere. I would stay at Casa Alata again without hesitation.
The owners were very helpful and we took advantage of their offer to transport us to and from their lovely restaurant.

A perfect little bit of heaven on the Amalfi Coast
We simply loved the Casa Alata. The house was perfect for 4 people with a lovely living room, well equipped kitchen, 2 beautiful bedrooms with two spotless bathrooms, and beautiful tile floors throughout. But the most magical aspect was the terrace overlooking the sea and blue blue sky. Each bedroom and the living room had glass doors opening out onto that terrace with views of the stars at night and the sunrise in the morning. We ate breakfast outside every day, watched boats go by, listened to the church bells of San Michele, basked in the sun. There were many glorious sights to see along the Amalfi coast, but it was difficult to choose to go off for the day and leave this perfect spot. The owners, who were gracious and thoughtful, own a lovely restaurant where we dined twice. I was sad to leave, and if I am ever able to return I will certainly choose the Casa Alata again.

We loved Casa Alata
We loved Casa Alata. It was perfect.
Casa Alata is a beautiful bright, airy and spotlessly clean apartment. The living room is big with double doors leading onto a very large terrace. The view from the terrace is amazing and it is equipped with very comfortable sun loungers. Both bedrooms are large and bright with comfortable beds. The fact that you walk through from one bedroom to the other is not a problem as each bedroom has doors leading onto the terrace. There is a utility room with a good washing machine and a clothes rack for drying clothes.
The Amalfi Coast was for us the holiday of a lifetime. The local people were so friendly and even though we were only there for 1 week we felt at home. I would love to come back sometime and would recommend Casa Alata to others.
Luca what can I say! Molte Molte Grazie to you and the girls at Summer In Italy. It was brilliant dealing with you. The girls are so helpful and answered our queries promptly. Nothing was too much trouble. When we return to Italy I will use your company again and recommend it to others.

Casa Alata was great, really clean and well maintained
Casa Alata was great, really clean and well maintained.
The view from the terrace is beautiful and this is what we were looking for.
We did have a problem with the hot water system but after advising Summer in Italy by email, the owners had a maintenance guy out within half an hour to fix it, this was also in the evening, so well done.
The owners could not do enough for us, complimentary pizzas and wine from their restaurant. Also a ride to and from the restaurant if required.
An ideal spot for a base from which to travel the Amalfi coast, we really enjoyed our stay here. We even got used to the church bells.
Great doing business with you. Ciao.

We were at Casa Alata for five days at the end of April
We were at Casa Alata for five days at the end of April. It is a beautiful location with great views of the sea. The decor was great.
We enjoyed eating at the landlord's restaurant. We walked down the many steps to the restaurant, but fortunately, his son brought us back by car. The restaurant will also deliver. Pizza delivered was terrific.
The casa is on a bus line, however, be sure to get a schedule.
We greatly enjoyed it and would do it again.
One note -- do not drive a car on the Amalfi coast unless you have experience as a Gran Prix driver.

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Alata immensely
We enjoyed our stay at Casa Alata immensely! Having reviewed hundreds of properties in the area (using this site) we finally settled on Casa Alata and we were absolutely thrilled with our choice. We were dying to get in so that we could appreciate the view that we'd dreamed of and were not disappointed! Exquisite! We awoke every day at sunrise so as not to miss the magnificent sunrise and then enjoy our breakfast on the terrace.
The home is charming, immaculately clean and quiet. The sounds of a working town and the churchbells were ever present, but it only added to the allure of Casa Alata.
One tiny disappointment: the owner was over an hour late in meeting us for a strict 4 pm rendezvous. When he finally arrived, he laughed it off a bit... not impressed. We called in advance 3 times to reconfirm the time and place. In fairness, his family did bring us fresh baked 'cornetti' on two occasions - our first and last mornings! So, all is forgiven!
Our friends were a little jealous, I think, when they saw the lovely home and incredible views that were ours for the week! I would return in a heartbeat.
We will continue to book with Summer in Italy as the level of care and professionalism were outstanding.
