Online this place looked great, it had all the amenities we were looking for, the only problem was that not all the amenities listed were in the condition one would expect. To start we ran into some issues in our travel plans and didn't arrive at the house until way late, by that time everyone was exhausted and ready for bed. In our quick walkthrough of the place looking for the sleeping arrangements, we noticed lots of spiderwebs throughout the house. We assume that the house has likely sat empty for a few weeks. The next morning we got a better look at the place. On top of spiderwebs throughout the entire place, the windows were extemely dirty, there was dog hair in corners, under the beds & couch, and coated the blanket on the couch. The entire place smelled like wet dog and pee as well. The playstation had no working remotes and the storage under it had random trash in it. The upstairs bathroom ceiling is molding and the bed boxspring is completely worn out and sunken in. The pictures show 2 different hot tubs and the house actually has the more dated one, covered in dirt and dust surrounded by spiderwebs, under a decaying deck above. Through all that, the biggest issue I had was the audacity to send us the check in email days before with instructions to leave an extra $175 cash for housekeeping which we were already charged a cleaning fee when we paid in full weeks before. And paying cash outside VRBO seems a little shady. We will not be staying here again.

House was perfect base for our time in Lake lure area. Plenty of space and enjoyed game room.

We had a great time staying at this cabin. So many fun games to play. Really felt secluded and peaceful. Location to Chimney Rock was great!

Very nice cabin with plenty of space. Property was beautiful and private, yet very close to all the necessary amenities. Host was very easy to communicate with and accommodating

We had a girls trip did my daughter’s sweet 16! We absolutely loved the house! Tons of room. Bedrooms AND bathrooms on all 3 floors and the location was great. The basement was perfect for kids/tweens/teens. Close to Chimney Rock, shopping, grocery store etc.
working fireplace so make sure you bring wood or they sell it at the grocery store. Hot tub was great but was not working perfectly (jets and heat did not work together) but that was just a minor thing and not a big deal. Host was wonderful and responsive. We will definitely be back!

Ideal location, steep but manageable driveway, house was exactly as described and accurate pictures. amenities were average for homes in this price point.

The property was everything in the description and just what we wanted to experience. The town of Chimney Rock was minutes away yet we were surrounded by nature.

The communication between the property manager and myself was not that well. To start out with, she gave me the wrong code to get in the house. And it took 45 minutes for her to respond as we sat outside and waited. She said there was cable t v but we never were able to get it to come on. It was stated she had Wi-Fi access. The Wi-Fi would not even work the Netflix on the TV or our telephones. Which we desperately needed due to we have a funeral home. So if you are in need of your phone service to work or your Wi-Fi. I would not suggest to rent this location . Also pictures are misleading the water and kayaks are not close to the house at all. The communication to me was distasteful my last communication with her she never responded back. I've never had a problem renting on VR BO before. And I've rented numerous times and I've never had any complaints on my side as being the renter. So I would not suggest renting this location and I will not ever again. We did not even stay one night we rented from somewhere else. That was extremely accommodating. In addition they gave us a discount considering what we were going through. And I asked her, would she kindly at least give me half of my money back and she never responded. Do not rent from this woman.

On the website there is a view to the lake, when we got there it was forested over.....no view. And the house is much smaller than the pictures would lead you to believe. We did not stay

We absolutely loved our stay in this cabin! Everything was perfect upon arrival. The home was extremely clean.
Liz was available to answer any questions (power went out in the area due to a major storm and she communicated to us the ETA for restoration and flashlight location).
We made the best of it and headed to Walmart for water shoes and Zaxbys for dinner 😃 with our dog!
I love that the back deck has a gate, so you have more peace of mind with pets on the deck as well as children.
The privacy of the home is wonderful! The drive down to the town is is just a few minutes. We loved the location!

Just wanted to clarify some things from past reviews that made me hesitant to book:
There are no bugs. Maybe one if you leave the door open.
The pool table and foosball table were in great condition and worked well for us.
The walk to the lake access point is an easy, quick, walk. I’d suggest dropping the paddle board and kayak off via car (bring a tarp to cover your back folded seats) instead of carrying them down the hill and back up - also wear water shoes!
For the driveway if you aren’t able to turn in, you can pull down just past the home and turn around to come back up the hill and into the driveway. Super easy.
Also, there’s literally only one floor board that creaks. It’s in the kitchen. Wood things creak :)
This place is perfect! You will be happy here!

Overall we had a terrific stay. The cabin was very clean and spacious enough for our party of 6. The black bear theme throughout the cabin is adorable! My daughter even saw a black bear outside the loft window walking up the road!! In my opinion the driveway is best suited for one vehicle. We had two vehicles but only used one for the week. Otherwise it would have been a hassle every day turning our cars around to drive in and out. My husband parked his car at the top of the driveway by backing in. That worked out the best for us. The floors do creak but we got used to it. Lake access is a walk downhill and then back uphill so we only did that once. Unfortunately the game system would not work, the fuse ball table drops a ball to the floor and the DVD player in the loft had no instructions. We didn’t dwell on these things but it would have been nice to use these amenities as listed. I absolutely loved the Lake Lure area and can’t wait to come back!

The house is very nice. All is advertised inside except the pool table it's best use was holding laundry. Outside the best bet is to back down the drive. Property is very steep, front do house icon slider ably lower than the road. Steep bank in front lacks retaining wall which left us walking in mud as it rained all week.

Floor mats were dirty upon arrival. I picked up the kitchen mat and dirt went everywhere. We went to eat dinner and there was other people's food on our silverwear-right out of the drawer. The windows have not been cleaned in a long time. The grill was filthy and had to be cleaned before we could use it. The shower had black mold in it. The pool table was lop-sided and really cannot be used for a real game. There was gum stuck on the bunkbeds. . You cannot watch tv there, we never had signal. The swimming and fishing area is not what we expected. It is a tiny cove between two other properties, we certainly would not swim in that area, as it looks like a great place for snakes. We were not going to mention any of these things, as we are not complainers, nor have I ever left a negative review for anything- however, we were told upon arrival (by note on the fridge) that we had to personally pay the housecleaner $175.00 dollars by cash or venmo. We have never been asked to personally pay a housecleaner, that should be covered/added in the cost to stay. We were then contacted again stating that we were charged another $75.00 for pawprints found (cabin listed as "pet friendly" -we did our best-but I am sure a pawprint could have been missed), and that we did not strip all of the beds...we did not sleep in all of those beds. We did our best to leave the place as we found it, which could certainly have been cleaner. There are certainly better places to stay in the area.

You should tell people that the driveway is a little tricky, really don't have any internet, and take down the picture of the lakeview it's misleading.

Cabin is beautiful. The driveway is very difficult to navigate but overall we enjoyed our stay here.

We had a wonderful stay at the Lake Lure cabin. It was spacious enough for my family of four, and my children absolutely loved the upstairs loft and the basement bunk beds with the foosball table. Some reviews mentioned intermittent wifi, but we found it to be sufficient for Netflix *most* of the time, and I wouldn't have expected more than that. There is a Keurig, which I think the listing omitted - maybe it's new, but would have been good to know ahead of time. The secluded location was perfect, and a short drive into Lake Lure or Chimney Rock. We would definitely choose to stay here again!

Loved the house and the property. The HVAC was loud, but we got used to it. Loved the dog friendly pup basket to help with dirty paws and such. Thank you!

This property was absolutely beautiful. It's located just 300 feet from a beautiful lake. Chimney rock is just a 5 min drive from the cabin . I will definitely stay in this area again !

This was the perfect cabin for our weekend getaway. Our party of four had plenty of room for sleeping and ample bathrooms. The kitchen was well equipped to cook and serve our meals and the charcoal BBQ was a great bonus. Everything was clean and the furniture was comfortable. It was very conveniently located near shopping and dining options. Would 100% stay again!!

We had never been to Lake Lure or Chimney Rock - this house was the perfect location! 5 minutes to Ingles grocery store, 2 minutes to town… such a great spot. The house was great - plenty of room for everyone and it was so nice and clean. I loved that we could bring our dog and having all the basic necessities to get us started was wonderful too - like toilet paper, dishwasher tabs, etc. The owners were so great about answering my questions. We did not know the lake was just finished with its “once every 3 years draw down” so that was not expected but now we know - listing it here in case someone else didn’t know about it. Still we’re able to go fishing and caught lots of fish! Had a wonderful time and would love to come back again.

Overall we had a great time. Just some things about the property and location that we encountered at the end of the March timetable. The driveway was steep and tight. We had to back in every time. The house floors screak badly in the bedrooms especially upstairs. The water pressure and drainage were not good upstairs as well. The bed upstairs was not comfortable. We asked for a firepit to be dropped off however, it was very very small...we didn't use it. Be extra aware of Cleaning Fee which is easy to miss if you're not paying attention to the rental agreement. This was my fault but a bummer as I had to hit the guys up for extra expenses. Another mistake for the time of year, the lake was very low exposing all decks and dirt due to the water drawn down from the dam. Chimney Rock Town is pretty cool. We ate at the Chimney Rock Brewery which was good food at sets on the running creek. The winery across the street was very good as well. Ingles Grocery is good as well but is about 10-15 min away. We went to Hendersonville for lunch and enjoyed the quaint town and shops. Breakfast was great at the Victory Restaurant in Lake Lure..its a must-stop. The neighborhood was great with beautiful homes etc. Liz was very responsive to any and all communication.

The cabin was ADORABLE! Perfectly decorated to give the cabin in the woods feel.
Myself, husband, elderly mother and 4 teenage children stayed for two nights. We couldn’t have loved it more! Thank you

We had a wonderful weekend stay in this cabin. It is beautifully furnished and well stocked. The beds were comfy. Plenty of outdoor space. Secluded but easy to access. I wish we could have had an outdoor fire but I understand that it's a town ban. The only downside was that the wifi wasn't the greatest which usually isn't a big deal but we also had poor cell service so a good internet connection would have been great. Overall, i would definitely stay here again, and hope to do so in the near future.

It's a nice enough cabin, but it's thoroughly lacking in attention to details. The kitchenware is random and not sufficient if you want to cook meals or clean dishes. The pool table is a mess, it's lopsided and the rails are all worn out. I wouldn't even advertise it as an amenity. And the wifi is HORRIBLE. You can't watch anything without it stalling out constantly. When I tried to address this with the owner, she never answered me.

I was hesitant from a few of the past reviews but quickly found this charming cabin nestled away in pure tranquility a “Gem”! I did think the water ramp was a lot further than what I thought but it was ok.

This cabin was beautiful and very homey! It was clean, roomy, spacious, and very comfortable.
Coming from Florida we really enjoyed the wood fireplace as well. The location is great for privacy, and yet very close by to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. It was a wonderful, it is the perfect place to spend a nice relaxing and fun vacation.
10.0
If you're looking for something secluded, yet close to town, this is the perfect place. The house was tucked in the woods on the side of a mountain and very private. You could barely see the roof of the next house several hundred yards away. There was lots of space for guests (although we didn't need it) and all rooms had their own bathroom. Both Chimmey Rock Town and Lake Lurw town were 5-10 minutes drive away. The parking was a little tight and would be tough for multiple vehicles with the driveway angle. Being on side of a hill made the yard space very limited (for pets/kids), but it does have a nice spacious game room and deck, and the deck has a gate to prevent any escapes. It is surrounded by woods and wildlife. It would be perfect for a family stay with kids or pets. The house very much had that "cabin" feel, though some parts of the floor were a bit creaky. This didn't bother us, as it was just us 2, but it could be bothersome to sleeping families. Overall, it was a great place very close to the lake and Chimney Rock and had all necessities for our stay.
8.0
Beautiful cabin and the perfect size for our family! The only negative is that the parking was a little tight as family came from all directions - the coast, Upstate, and Pee Dee of SC. And turning into the drive was a challenge! We ended up going past the cabin, turning around, and then going in from an easier angle. Overall, a fabulous place, close to everything!
6.0
The cleaning service seems very expensive considering the guest have to pretty much do everything but wash the bedding. And going though Vrbo was a joke. Rented me the place at a certain amount and owners text me the day we're leaving to come up with hundreds of more. Owner still let us go though.

The cabin was very clean.
Good place to spend a nice and peaceful vacation with the family.

More attention needed in cleaning in and outside. Lots of webs on outside furniture. Some drains were clogged. One of front door locks didn’t work. Games were all missing pieces.

We were not expecting to Stay whit critters in the cabin we had clean the kitchen counter tops due to dropping we set traps out due to kitchen had mice running especially at night.
We also found out the main bathroom shower does not drain or does the sink in the main bath room .
Over all if it would have been clean before we arrived and the plumbing working like it should the house would have been what we wanted .
There was no time to change rental due to my My daughter wedding arrangements were set.Sorry for the pour review I believe in being honest. Thank you

We had a wonderful time but there were a few issues with Wi-Fi and the television but nothing we couldn’t handle….and access to the lake was difficult for us but didn’t stop us to just drive a short distance to the beach…we really loved our trip

Kyle and Liz Fister are dishonest and require renters to leave additional money, in cash, for a cleanig fee. This is against VRBO policy. All fees are included in the booking regardless of Liz putting “leave UP to $... cash for the cleaning fee” in the contract.
If enough cash isn’t left, they will take your damage deposit. See previous renter complaints.
There were chalk marks left on the pool table and Liz claims we destroyed the very old, wobbly, pool table. She took our entire damage fee and the cash we left from us on TOP of the original booking cost.
The house is very squeaky, there are many items in the house that need to be fixed or updated, parking is tricky, the walk to the river is down the 2 lane road with no shoulder, and only a partial roll of toilet paper is left in each bathroom. The kitchen cooking utensils and pans need to be thrown out and replaced. We arrived to dirty dishes because Liz only leaves 1 dishwasher pod.
Renters BEWARE!!

Clean and Quiet
The most important elements were fine. Clean home, comfortable beds and nice accommodations. Internet service was functionally nonexistent, .37Mbps download is not Internet service. Showers don’t drain well. Kitchen missing measuring cups and limited supply of glasses.

Taking teenagers to the mountains
We took out two grandkids with us to the cabin. We all had plenty of space to spread out. The beds were comfortable. The kitchen was equipped, but I didn’t bring a measuring cup, so I had to wing it on meal. The road in was clearly marked, and we had no trouble
negotiating the drive way by driving past the house and circling back. A great trip for 2 seniors and grandkids!
