First visit to Sicily, we opted to stay in Ortigia which was a great decision, the apartment is close to the daily market, being able to buy fresh fruit and veg every morning was a lovely bonus. The island of Ortigia is a wonderful place and a must visit, Alberto was very helpful during our visit

Wonderful location. Great host. Lots of room in the unit. Totally recommend

The property was just as advertised. We stayed 5 nights and felt safe in the neighbourhood near the market. It was an easy walk to the Duomo and historical city centre. Our only complaint about the property was that the interior floors were not washed clean and the house had a musty smell, particularly on the main floor.

We love Ginerva’s place in Rome and this apartment in Ortigia exceeded our expectations. It was comfortable, beautiful, close to everything. Alberto who checked us in was very helpful.

We had a lovely few days in Ginevra’ house on Ortigia. It is perfectly located and nicely decorated. We enjoyed dinners on the roof terrace and cool rooms downstairs when we needed to escape the heat. Very comfortable for 6 of us.

This lovely property is the perfect home base to explore Syracuse and Ortigia. Very close to safe public parking, the rooftop terrace is ideal for a sunset glass of wine, while the cafes near the Temple of Apollo offer your morning cappuccino and excellent people watching just steps away from the wonderful market. Alberto was responsive and helpful at both check in and departure. A five star stay for sure!

We spent a wonderful two weeks at this property perfectly located in Ortigia. The rooftop patio was the perfect place to enjoy a late afternoon aperol spritz!

We stayed at Ginevra’s apartment for a glorious month. We were there dec/jan and the weather was mild and sunny enough for morning swims. Our family of 4 was very comfortable in the apartment and loved the proximity to the market. We bought fruit and vegetables almost every morning and loved to cook lunch at the apartment and eat on the rooftop terrace. The kitchen is minimal but has everything you need. In the evenings we enjoyed a game of checkers before heading out to explore the town. We were very at home in this art filled retreat! We will cherish our month in Ortigia! Thank you to Ginevra for opening your home to us and to Alberto for the warm welcome and ease of communication!

Great location to explore Ortigia and Syracuse
This is a great house for up to six family members or 3 couples. You will be staying in an ancient city so expect to be comfortable but in a renovated but old building.
The host is great and very helpful. I was a bit apprehensive at first as the address does not show up on google or iMaps. But we were given great directions and were met upon arrival on the road adjacent to the property which is on a small alley off a pedestrian alley. The neighborhood is safe and consists of a maze of alleys that lead to the main market and streets that run the length of the island. You can walk anywhere on the island within 15 minutes and I can't think of a more charming or convenient location.
We stayed 8 nights and left the island 4 times; for a visit to a winery on Mt Etna, to Noto to see the Baroque architecture and the famous Caffe Sicilia and to go to the beach twice at Lido Sayonara in Fontaine Bianche. Otherwise there is so much to see and do in Ortegia and the main city of Syracuse within walking distance that our rental car spent most of the time parked. Street parking is difficult but the pay parking lot across the street is a 5 minute walk from the house. I would highly recommend this house as a home base for a visit to Ortigia. There is good air conditioning (essential in the summer heat) and strong wifi throughout the house. My wife and daughters and I had a great time.

This is a very nice and special house! Exquisitely furnished, and with great art on the walls.
It was very clean and proper as well as charming !
We enjoyed staying so close to everything. The sea with nice small beaches, and lovely fresh water :) and all the restaurants and interresting historical buildings!!! We even got to know some sweet cats in the narrow streets ! And of course we tid not miss the Theatro dei Pupi ! Also close to the house.

Magica atmosfera
Siamo stati benissimo!

Artist's eye
This rental is the essence of good taste. Every detail is perfect. The small living room is comfortable, the kitchen is well equipt, the bedrooms are quiet, and the small roof-top terrace is delightful. We could not have been happier. A huge bonus is the proximity to the fabulous daily market. Heaven.

Artistic home from home in great location
This is a beautiful home full of artistic touches and gives the impression of living in your own little part of the beauty that is Ortigia. Alberto was great and gave us lots of tips about where to eat etc and parking - we always found free parking near the house ( we had 2 cars). The great Ortigia market is a 2 minute walk and so we bought fresh figs and honey and ricotta for breakfast every morning and cooked in the evenings - lovely stalls selling super fresh fish and shellfish.. there isn’t an oven but big pans and lots of utensils so cooking was enjoyable- we ate on the top terrace as the sun set and the swifts came out to fly across the city. We would then walk into the city -beautiful streets and squares, the sea and harbour, live music at the weekend, lots of gelatos, cafes bars and restaurants, shops - very lively and pleasant- everything was open until around midnight and safe for everyone - lots of kids up late, a lovely atmosphere. Everyone very friendly. The house had 3 bathrooms and so was good for our larger party. Was super clean, good WiFi and some English programmes on sky atlantic.... you can walk to the town beach - we swam everyday and called in to our fave cafe for Granita on the way back. A beautiful house in a beautiful city - soak up the Sicilian life and magic of Ortigia.

* fuori dalla grande folla, ma vicina ai luoghi più significativi, facili da raggiungere a piedi;
* fuori dalle arterie di traffico , ma facile da raggiungere e con facile parcheggio
* non lontano dai siti archeologici , né dalle spiagge....

Lovely time in Ortygia
I spent five days in Ortygia and lived in this super flat. Three floors including a small, lovely roof terrace with flowers. Quiet area. Lovely bed. Nice colours. Walking distance to everywhere. A house with a soul.

Our vacation in this house was truly amazing. We loved all those details, colors and the furniture, creating a lovely atmosphere.
The 4 of us (1 couple and two friends) had so much space. Every part of our group did even have their own bathroom!
We spend a lot of evenings at the wonderful terrace, enjoying the sun and the view. We also had our breakfast there with fresh fruits from the market close-by.
Unfortunately I forgot the guys name who gave us the keys and explained everything. He was really helpful and friendly. He texted us back immediately when we had some questions concerning the city or places to go.
So all in all it was the perfect stay and if we ever come back to Sicily we will stay here again!

As soon as we walked into the house, we knew we’d made a great choice. Not only was the apartment in a great location in Ortigia, Alberto was on hand to give us some really good recommendations for restaurants etc. The house is literally 3 minutes walk from the daily local market where you can buy the most amazing produce such as ricotta, Italian meats, fresh fruit and veg then you can stop off for a little drink and fresh Frito misto in a cone - truly delicious.Local restaurants are plentiful with choices ranging from pizza, pasta to more traditional Sicilian dishes. Great wine and of course limoncello (if you see it with mint then try it as it is fantastic). In terms of the house, I can honestly say that Ginevra has thought of everything. We had all the household items we needed (hand soap, toilet roll, washing up liquid, washing machine detergent, bbq fuel, bin bags). Everything you could possibly want for a home from home.It is possible to find free parking near the house, however if the ZTL is active it can be more of a challenge. We parked over the weekend in Talete and it was fine. All in all we had great stay and would absolutely recommended renting this property.

We had a fantastic holiday in Genevra’s beautifully restored house in Ortigia. It is ideally located - the sea & market are around the corner & it is a short walk to the Duomo, shops, bars & restaurants. It is a spacious house with good facilities - excellent wifi, 3 double bedrooms & 3 bathrooms , a lovely roof terrace & 2 kitchens - we cooked in both, eating on the terrace or ground floor depending in the weather, after shopping daily at one of the best food markets I’ve ever visited - Wonderful seafood, fruit, vegetables, spices, wine, cheese , olive oil etc - so much to choose from.Check in and out was very easy & Alberto who was managing the house for Ginevra was extremely helpful to us, giving us advice on restaurants, places to visits & the ins & outs of parking on The island.Ortigia is a lovely place to visit & I would recommend staying here if you want to experience real Ortigian living.

We had an amazing week in Ortigia. The house is fantastic. Lots of original features. Interior shabbychic. Close to all the sights, bars and very important the restaurants. The daily market with the most amazing fruit, veg and fish is just around the corner. We loved it. Ginevra and Koen really made a lovely home from home there. We loved Alberto, the caretaker, who welcomed us and made us feel right at home. We are definitely coming back!

Happy visit
We enjoyed our stay in the property and the town . It was very convenient and close to every attraction. Only 5 minutes walk from an almost 3,000 year old temple! Accommodation comfortable, clean and well equipped. Great having the little terrace and the two kitchens. Alberto who welcomed us was incredibly helpful. Loved Ortigia. Air conditioning units were amazingly quiet. The main sunny bedroom a bit noisy every morning between 6.00 am and 8.15 due to builders nearby, something out of Ginerva’s control. Back bedroom very quiet.

Wonderfull townhouse near all you need in Ortigia
Lively townhouse with lots of opportunities to be together, split up, enjoy the sun and experience Ortigia and Syracuse. Three separate bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 kitchens allocated in 3 floors. What more do you need but to enjoy.

Great location
Great location with a great feel to it - gird your loins to climb the stairs but you get better at it by the second day. We loved sitting on the rooftop terrace having a drink at the end of the day.
Some of the services need a litle love and attention. We pointed out the problems with the washing machine to the manager - I'm sure they'll deal with them promptly.

Noisy and poor facilities
The downstairs bedroom was very damp. The kitchens were unusable. The house opened on to the tiny road with noise all the time. Stray cats even wondered in through the grating. The clothes washer did not work well and the tiny spiral staircase was difficult to negotiate.

Ortigia Style!!
The apartment was just great for our month stay in Ortigia. Plenty of room for 3 people and terrific location. Alberto, our Ortigia contact for the apartment, was extremely helpful with any glitches or questions we had. He was quick to respond to our needs for the apartment or travel assistance,. Ginevra has created a cozy and typical Ortigia apartment that shows her love of the area. She also responded quickly to questions and needs when renting and provided information that was most useful during our stay.
We would highly recommend the apartment for a short or long stay while in Ortigia. Lots of cafes, restaurants and safe neighborhood to all the the sites and joy of Ortigia.

Fantastic place in great location in wonderful city
The place was perfect for us. A great location and easy walk to the morning market and the sites. We cooked each night in the kitchen and sat in the terrace each late afternoon. We would return on our next trip to Siricusa which is a fantastic place.

Charming house in Ortygia
We fell in love with Ortygia during our visit, and part of the love affair was due to staying at Ginevra's home. It's charming and captures the feeling of Ortygia, from the decor to the set-up. We particularly enjoyed the kitchen upstairs so we could sit on the terrace and enjoy the sun and liveliness of town below. It's very well situated near the parking areas, the daily market (which we made use of frequently), and within a 5 minute walk of the rest of town. The caretaker on the island was very helpful during our check-in, holding a spot int he parking lot for us even though our flight was delayed coming in, and showing us right in. She was also responsive during our stay even though she couldn't speak much English and we could speak no Italian or French. The kitchen could use a few more serving and cooking utensils like wooden spoons, a spatula, etc. but we probably cooked a lot more meals at the house than others might.

Lovely house in a beautiful town.
We had a wonderful stay in this property. Ginevra was so responsive to us from the outset, and very accommodating when we arrived. Both she and Chiara (the property manager) went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.
The house itself was beautiful, well equipped and perfectly located for our stay in Ortigia. We particularly liked how close we were to the markets, less than five minutes stroll, which meant we could sample all the amazing produce and eat it while sipping wine on the rooftop terrace. Perfect!
We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wanted to stay in Ortigia - and Ortigia is definitely worth staying in! Of course, it is over three floors, so it wouldn't be suitable if you could not use stairs, but we even had our toddler and it was not an issue at all.

Old world style
We had the pleasure of staying in Ortigia at Ginerva's home in October 2015. Three couples stayed for three nights and we all wish it could have been more. It was like stepping back in time. Old world style, very clean, well equipped and a very short walk to anything and everything. I even contacted Ginerva after we came home about a store that I could not remember and she got back to me in just a couple of hours. You will love your stay there.

Authentic living in Ortigia
We were privileged to be one of the first people to stay in this nice property. We had a very warm welcome and from the very beginning we felt like home.
The owner Ginevra and her friends were lovely and more than happy to help in any regard. The house is a typical Sicilian house in the historical center and has been newly renovated by Ginevra herself in a charming Italian flair with many details. Don’t expect the high tech style of a 5* hotel, but if you like authentic and stylish design, you will love it. The house has 3 floors and a roof top terrace, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and 2 kitchens. We were only the two of us and chose one of the bedrooms on the 2nd floor with two large windows and a comfortable double bed. We used the 2nd bedroom on the same floor as a dressing room, also because this one had a wardrobe. The two kitchens are well equipped. There is a large one on the ground floor, where you also find a cozy living room. The smaller kitchen at the top floor is only a few steps away from a great terrace. We mainly used the upper kitchen, because we mostly went out for dinner. But having breakfast in the morning or enjoying a glass (or two) of delicious Sicilian wine with some olives in the evening at the roof top was beautifully amazing. We also found a grill on the terrace and decided to have two great fish & sea food barbecues from the market.
The market is only 2 minutes from the front door and the best place to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and seafood. Shops and restaurants are all just a walk away. Food is great at nearly any place in Ortigia and you´ll find our special highlights and recommendations in Gineva’s guest book. Ortigia still is authentic and real. You find everything you need - Sicilian Style - without being too touristic. Ortigia is a great place and if you want to see and visit the more suburban surroundings, a car is recommended, although parking (and Italian traffic) is challenging. Ortigia is a good place to start a visit to the nice Baroque cities as well as Vulcano Etna and the nice coast.
If you are lazy you will find cozy little bays at Plemmiro. Just 200 meters from the house there are steps to a wooden swimming platform. The water looks great there. We loved getting lost in the little walk ways and strolling over the wide Pizza Duomo We didn’t love leaving Ortigia and that nice apartment we called home. We would thoroughly recommend staying in this property and would love to come back - anytime!
