Location. Log fire.
The courtyard was not a courtyard but a 2ft X 2ft space to stand in. Arrival said 5pm, which was a very late check-in and then we received an email to say check-in was 6pm. We whole cottage was over cluttered and felt we were stepping into an old curiosity shop.

Benfield is a great property. It's comfortable, very well-equipped, and central. Virtually everything one might need for a town holiday is provided. The location is a relatively busy street. However there was no problem with street noise at night, perhaps because the weather was not hot and the windows didn't need to be open.
I must agree with several others who have written about the overpowering aroma from multiple bottles of scent with diffuser sticks. On the ground floor alone there were seven bottles of oil, each with five or six diffuser sticks. That's definitely overkill, and quite unpleasant for those of us with allergies or sensitivities.

Loved the old-world charm yet all modern conveniences and comforts. The kitchen was completely stocked, to our surprise. The local soaps and pastries were a nice added touch. It was a blessing to have a washer/dryer since we had been vacationing for a week prior to arrival. Wish we were able to stay longer than 4 nights. The location was convenient to everything, and we experienced no street noise, as was reported in other reviews.
To have a dedicated parking lot would have been nice. At first, we parked on Back Wall Street and that was extra walking with luggage and groceries, then then we started parking at the top of Sheep Street which was very convenient. We were there mid-week in mid-June, so it wasn't overrun with day trippers yet. We had mild weather, but on our last day it was hot, so the kitchen was too warm and sunny. On overcasts days it was nice to have the sun come in the sunporch roof, though. We did struggle with the washer/dryer. After each cycle it was hit or miss whether or not we could open the door as it didn't always unlock. And finally, a strong light over the 1st floor bathroom sink would be nice. The bathroom is softly lit even with the window blinds opened.

Great location, lovely house
Parking slightly difficult

The cottage was fantastically equipped, very fresh, well decorated and clean on arrival and in a great location. Everything was more then we expected with the cottage
The parking is a struggle at times, especially when un-loading and loading car. That said we was lucky and managed to get spaces. Garden could be bigger but appreciate not much can be done about that.

Was a home away from home, quaint rooms well furnished and cosy. Clean and particularly liked the AGA stove
Sofas could be better and some cobwebs/dust in high places, but these were very minor points

A beautiful characterful home, in a fantastic location. Comfortable beds and good quality linen. Very well equipped and loved all the detail and furnishings of the house. Highly recommended!
