About this house rental
Our cozy farmhouse is nestled into the west slope of Pleasant Valley, with a commanding view of majestic Mt. Mansfield. In the midst of 180 very private acres of pristine woodlands and breathtaking mountain views, the bedrooms are cozy and the kitchen/dining and living rooms are open space, light and airy. Built originally in 1865, recent renovations ensure everything is clean, solid and functionally sound without sacrificing the country feel of an old Vermont farmhouse. Decorated in warm colors, each room has its own charm and character. The master bedroom is on the ground floor in its own “wing,” with two beds, a queen and a twin, and a private full bath. The other two bedrooms are upstairs and share a full bathroom – the one to the right has four twins; the one to the left has a queen and a twin. We have one child-size roll-away and one crib. The kitchen is fully equipped and ready for cooking gourmet feasts. Our washer and dryer ensure that you are ready for anything, whether you brought enough clothes or not.
Underhill, Jeffersonville and the surrounding area offer an abundance of distractions for every taste. Outdoor enthusiasts will find adventure in exploring the network of trails right outside our door, whether for cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, sledding, toboganning, mountain biking, hiking or simply walking (we have some equipment, and you can rent snowshoes and bikes for the day or week at our local stores). Underhill’s got one of the best sledding hills anywhere, and that’s just a five minute drive. If you prefer to take walks on the woods trails or on beautiful country roads, you’ll be stunned by the beauty and majesty of the unspoiled land and Mt. Mansfield.
This treasure is a place to get away from the hustle, to fill your lungs with truly fresh air, and to “re-charge your batteries.” With our own pond right off the deck, swimming (summer) and skating (winter) are available on impulse. Our larder is loaded with teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and other cooking/eating essentials, which you are welcome to use, though we ask that they be replaced if usage is heavy. Our caretaker and housekeeper will be happy to pitch in if you’d like their help while at the house. When we say 'vacation house,' we mean it!
As for skiing, Smuggler’s Notch Ski Resort (known to locals as “Smuggs”, only 15-20 minutes away) offers groomed cross-country ski trails, a skating arena, and excellent downhill skiing and snow-boarding. Stowe is just 45 minutes away (or you can ski to it from Smuggs) and Jay Peak is about the same. If variety is a compulsion, Sugarbush and Mad River are about an hour south.
For those seeking more pastoral or cerebral activities, there is no lack of beautiful vistas for the photographer and artist; there are antique shops, art galleries, farmers markets, restaurants, theatres, and shops all within a 40 minute radius, including Stowe village, Jeffersonville and Vermont’s largest city, Burlington. And the turn of seasons in fall is utterly spectacular as Vermont’s legendary sugar maples put on their riotous display of leafy colors.
As the sun sets and the incredibly clear sky shows off a plethora of stars and constellations, you can come home to relax and toast your toes in front of the big stone fireplace, far from the noise and hectic pace of resort villages with their condos, dense living and commercial traffic. Put on soft music and stretch out, and rest your tired muscles in this serene and private setting!
Our home is the perfect place for your Vermont vacation. It is also the perfect setting for small family celebrations like anniversaries or graduations. Invite your family, friends and relatives to stay here with you. There are plenty of businesses in the area that would be happy to help you with catering and other services you might need. Contact us with any questions or concerns you have. We’ll be glad to help!

Loved this property! The view was fantastic! The house was full of rustic charm. The pond was better than a pool! Access to lots of hiking was fabulous! Many good restaurants, breweries, and distilleries nearby. Highly recommend!

A wonderful place to get-away, with refreshing pond, spectacular views, trails to hike right off the property, and that’s just the outside! The home is lovely, clean and comfortable, with well-equipped kitchen, lots of games, and so many more enjoyable touches throughout. Been there twice and would definitely return again!

The house is awesome and charming. All is perfect : the location, the view, the tranquility, the comfort! Mark, the manager, is kind and effective. I really recommend this place.

This property was pretty much as advertised, a nice multi-bedroom vacation home in a spectacular setting. The owner is very responsive and provides all the details about the stay. Kitchen is well-equipped. Great place for families with kids. Hiking options in the area are among the best that Vermont has to offer. Highly recommended!

The house was everything we wanted. Space to enjoy our time together, great restaurant recommendations, and perfect for viewing the eclipse.

We stayed for four nights this visit (our third) to the house. So relaxing and peaceful. We didn’t have great weather but that doesn’t matter when you stay here - the house has everything you can possibly need and the fireplace is superb. Always a pleasure to set things up with Mark. He is right on top of all the details and sends along great tips and suggestions. We hope to visit again.

We loved our stay at Bryn Tyddyn!!
The house is just perfect - rustic, charming, and cozy.
It has everything you need.
Our children loved exploring the 180 acres and sledding down the hill in the front yard.
Mark was very responsive to all the emails and questions. Staying here made our trip to Vermont just perfect. It’s amazing how much having a cozy place to come back to can just make the vacation that much better!
It’s a great location also. We highly recommend Jericho market for groceries.
We also recommend 158 Main for breakfast.
Overall I highly recommend this lovely farmhouse.

We chose this property for its proximity to our daughter and son-in-law's to help them celebrate their wedding. It was private, very tastefully decorated , had plenty of space and a terrific kitchen to have a dinner party for 8 prior to the big day. Check in and check out were very easy .

We stayed at Mark’s place with our adult children for a long weekend to attend a family wedding in nearby Fairfax. Mark was great with communication, instructions and recommendations leading up to our arrival. The house is rustic but clean and comfortable. The living room is bigger than we expected and very comfortable to gather around and enjoy a fire in the large fireplace. The kitchen is large and well equipped for cooking. It has a good sized dining table with plenty of chairs to gather around to eat or play games. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic vacation away from the hustle n bustle of NYC. The house is beautiful with everything you need for a family to be comfortable. We were traveling with seniors and a toddler and had the absolute best time.

We were greeted by the sweetest smelling flowering bush. The house layout was perfect for 6 adults and a 10 month old. Two bedrooms up top, and a third self contained large master on main floor. This was ideal as we are a loud group. Baby wasn’t bothered and slept through it all. Bedding was not skimped on. As per the description everything you could need was provided in the house. Extra bedding, towels, kitchen ware and all perfectly suited to our needs. The kitchen had all working appliances. Which at some locations was an issue.
The house and porch were ideal for family chats, game nights, and meals. Amy the housekeeper did an outstanding job in preparing for our arrival as everything was spotless. “Practically perfect in every way” as Mary Poppins says. Only regret we had to leave early. 18 hour drive was worth it!

The house had a cozy feel with a comfortable family room and large kitchen table. The deck had comfortable Adirondack chairs with a great view of Mt. Mansfield. Kitchen was well-equipped. Walking trails were nearby. A market was fairly close. It's fairly close to Stowe; Burlington/Shelburne were a longer drive so this is not the place if you want to go into the city everyday. But it's a great place if you love the country:quiet and scenic.

Our second stay there. Beautiful views and direct off the property mountain bike trails.

Listing was accurate, owner communication was fast and friendly. The house was stocked with pretty much any necessity I can think of, location was perfect between Underhill/Jericho and Cambridge. The property is gorgeous, hiking trails all clearly marked.

We absolutely loved our stay at this wonderful home. The house was well equipped with all we needed to be comfortable---the kitchen had everything for extensive cooking; the outside deck was a glorious place to sit and listen to birds and watch the ever-changing light on Mt, Mansfield. And the pond! We refreshed ourselves in its beautiful waters daily. The owner provided all the information we needed for nearby hikes and other attractions and the communication with him was excellent. All in all, this is a place to cherish and we hope to return next summer.

We really enjoyed our stay at this house and if we had had more time, we would have willingly extended our stay! The house is a very comfortable homey house, with all the comforts of home--nice living room with couches and chairs with pillows, wood burning fireplace, games; large kitchen stocked well with cooking ware and table settings as well as staple; spacious master bedroom on first floor; nice two bedrooms and one full bath on the second floor; plenty of pillows, blankets, towels, wash rags and other essentials; nice-sized entry way; nice, large wrap-around deck with chairs and tables. The yard was spectacular with a pond, grass area, flowers, and woods, which have nice hiking trails with a breath-taking view of Mount McComber. The host was most gracious and very, very helpful with providing detailed information about the house, hiking trails, grocery stores, restaurants, and other helpful things. We hope to return.

The listing does not do this property justice, we had a very hard time leaving and can not wait to stay again. The view of the mountain was just stunning. Home was clean, well equipped, and just overall perfect! Thank you Mark for sharing your paradise with us!

Loved coming back to this beautiful rustic home after being out all day enjoying outdoor activities. There's even trails in the back of the house to cross country ski, snow shoe or walk. My favorite part of the house was the large rustic fireplace where we relaxed every night. Truly a Vermont expereience!!!

We had a quiet, relaxing stay at Mark’s house while visiting with our young adult sons. It was a great location close enough to UVM with easy access to Smuggs and local stores & restaurant s. Everything was spotlessly clean with the perfect mix of rustic charm and modern amenities. The kitchen had everything needed for all of our cooking needs. The check in & out times were extremely convenient and much appreciated. The hosts were gracious in allowing our dogs to travel with us and the dogs thoroughly enjoyed sniffing on the beautiful property well off the paved road. Mark was very helpful, accommodating, and responsive…we would love to stay here again!

We stayed at Marks property for a weekend with family and overall had a pleasant stay. Mark was very responsive and helpful. It’s about an hour from the mountain. Charming old house.

We had an absolute wonderful time staying here. The property is just as described. There are some lovely trails just out your back door. The snow fell almost the entire time we were here. The fireplace is the absolute best I've ever experienced. We hiked in the snow, skiied at Smuggs (an easy 15 minutes away, but watch your gps route if you drive in inclement weather - go through Jeffersonville), ate in town, cooked in the lovely kitchen and explored the woods.
This is a rustic home, with country charm, so don't expect a condo at Stowe. We would definitely stay here again. I hope we can come back in the summer.

Amazing stay at this beautiful cabin for MLK weekend! Owner was very friendly and helpful with local recommendations. We drove to Stowe Mountain resort everyday, about an hour drive, and it was perfect. Would love to stay on this property again!

We had a wonderful family mini-vac with our adult children. The house is quite roomy and so cozy! The drive to Smugglers Notch was easy, approx 15 mins. The house had everything we needed. The beds were so comfy, along with updated bathrooms and showers. We enjoyed meals together, sitting by the fire and walking on the trails from the house. It was also so helpful that our family dog could join us too. We hope to return again next year. Thank you!

Property, location, and views were as advertised. Spent Xmas here and very much enjoyed our time. The property itself and owners are very well organized. This was by far the most well supplied, organized, and visitor friendly place we ve stayed at so far. Location is perfect with easy drives to Burlington, Stowe, and Waterbury Village. We will definitely stay here again!

We just visited for a second time this year. The house was spotless. We spent a lot of time out on the deck in the fall sun and in front of the fireplace in the evenings. Great area to explore, lots of options for day trips and activities. It is a pleasure to work with host Mark. Highly recommend this property. I completely forgot about my regular life while we were there. Priceless.

Easy access to both Stowe and Burlington and a beautiful setting with scenic views from the deck. This is a quintessential Vermont getaway home. Mark was a terrific host in constant communication providing much detailed information about the property and the surrounding area. Wish we had stayed another day!

Spent a great week in Vermont, Mark's property is ideally located to get to Jeffersonville, Mount Mansfield, Stowe and beyond. Spotless, cozy and great fireplace. Highly recommend if you are in the area to disc golf at Smuggs!

The host was excellent in communication , the house was a charming farm house situated on a hill with a gorgeous piece of property. We took advantage of all that was offered except going in the pond due to the frosty conditions!
House was clean, stocked, comfortable and would book again .

Me, my husband, and four other friends (and our pup), had an amazing time at mark’s place! The house was cozy and welcoming! It was very clean and was stocked with everything you will need for your stay. There was plenty of room for the 6 of us. We loved the outdoor area…the deck was beautiful and the small pond was quaint! Mark is a great host! We hiked Mt. Mansfield and it was only a 15 minute drive from the house. We all said we would love to go back in the summer so we can really enjoy the pond and outdoor area! Highly recommend this place!

Extremely comfortable... wish I could have spent more time there as I was occupied with an event a couple of towns away. While there, I enjoyed a perfectly restful stay due to lots of attention to details demonstrating the mark of an exceptional host and helpful manager. The surrounding scenery with occasional glimpses local wildlife was spectacularly lovely and greatly enjoyed.
