Lovely property and house. Right off VT-108 and next to a bubbly stream. The nearby mountain pass is not for the faint of heart driver, but it was well worth it. Recommend!

Wow. This was such a great cabin. We got to drive thru Smugglers Notch almost daily. We were close to Stowe and just 50.minutes to Burlington. It is right by a highway, but the traffic is light. Super quiet and dark at night. So glad we booked here instead if an Inn or Hotel. Maude was very responsive and courteous.

Great place to stay, I would recommend that the windows were adjusted to open during the summer months

Chose this VRBO for the privacy and riverfront tranquility. It did not disappoint. The home and property exceeded expectations.

This is a quaint, recently renovated property. The property backs up to a stream on a forested corridor. A great, traditional New England vibe.

We had such a great time with our family at this Chalet. Everything was clean and organized, two beautiful bedrooms and comfy beds. Tv, games and all basic amenities made our stay very comfortable. Thank you! Would love to go back again one day

Wonderful location for visiting in summer. Our son loved playing in the river - water levels were low so it was safe to do so. Even though the property is right on a main road, noise wasn’t a problem at all.
Maude was a kind and responsive host. I love that there was no extra charge for our dog!

This was our 2nd time staying here and it was even better than the last! There were some new upgrades since the last time we were there which made our stay even more lovely. We spent Christmas there and we had sent our "elves" up ahead of time to for our girls to find when we arrived. Maude was wonderful in helping to get the elves staged for our arrival!

We enjoyed our stay. The kids had a really good time playing in the creek behind the property. The cottage is quite nice overall.
Fair warning: the mattresses are all foam, which I guess works for a lot of people - the kids were fine in the twin beds - but for me & my husband sharing the big bed, we prefer a much stiffer mattress, so that was a bit of a bummer for us.

Really enjoyed staying at this chalet. Maude was a great host. The chalet was a good size with more than enough room for my partner and our furry friend. The location was great and we thoroughly enjoyed our fall visit to Vermont especially the view of the river behind the chalet. I would absolutely recommend staying here.

Beautiful property right on the Brewster River. Everything was as expected. Nice back yard and living room windows give a great view of the river. Across the street from a sugar shack and about a mile from some of the best disc golf in VT.

We were looking to get away from the hustle of the city and this was perfect. Being able to enjoy coffee while watching the rolling steam go by was amazing. While being away from everything there is still a lot to do near by, such as hiking, biking and gondola rides. We will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Our family of 4 plus 2 dogs enjoyed our stay at the chalet. Comfortable beds, very clean, well equipped kitchen, enough room to spread out. Dogs loved the backyard. 2 minute drive to ski area made it easy to come home for lunch.

This is a great rental property. Perfect size for our family of 4. We'll maintained. Nice and clean. As you can see below, the list of pros far far far outweighs the lost of cons. We'd definitely pick this one again, it was great!
Pros:
-Location - easy to get to a lot of different things to do in the area
-Backyard - this house is sited on a hill that goes down to a rocky stream. A path and play area are mowed, and there's a fire pit with chairs by the stream. There's also a frisbee golf practice area with a couple of frisbees. This stream is magical. It is perfect for making memories with the family
-Laundry, there's a washer/dryer combo unit in the bug bedroom
-puzzles for downtime
-updated interior
-comfey twin mattresses
-Stocked with basics (coffee, filters, plastic wrap, foil, laundry pods etc) to get you started.
Cons:
-Queen bed is bouncy and sags to the middle
-Road noise
-bedrooms are bright w/o room darkening curtains. I have yet to find a vacation rental that has them though.

Perfect spot close to Smuggs, with the Brewster River right behind you
We've now stayed at each of Maude's properties near Smuggs and they are always spotlessly clean and well-maintained. This cabin is right on a busy road but there's an enormous deck and a big backyard with creek access - ignore the front and enjoy the back! The driveway alarmed me at first because we needed to get two cars in there and I wasn't sure how, but it turned out to be pretty easy. It's very wide at the top so two cars can get by each other, and you can turn around and back down as far as you're comfortable, or park along the road. It worked out fine. The second bedroom is small (better for kids than teens or adults) and the bathroom is tiny, but the main bedroom is really nice and spacious, and the living area is bright and open and inviting. Kitchen is well stocked. The deck is almost the size of the house and has a beautiful view. It's a great house to stay in with dogs, we felt very comfortable there with ours and they loved the creek. If you're willing to take off your shoes and splash through the creek, you'll find the Brewster River Trail right on the other side and can walk quite a distance. Or just drive one minute down the road in either direction to Edwards Road, which has great trail options too. We had a mix of family up the road at Smuggs and at this cabin so we were pretty much constantly back and forth, and it worked out beautifully. Thank you Maude!

Perfect Getaway Home
We rented this property in the hopes of exploring a new state and getting some downtime. This chalet was perfect in every way; clean, organized, well maintained and stocked with the essentials. The view and sounds of the river in the back made it feel like a slice of paradise. We were far enough away to relax but close enough to get some hiking and exploring in. Everything our family needed in a home away from home for the week.

Cozy little house with a huge deck overlooking the river!
Spent Easter weekend 2022 here with my husband, our 21 year old daughter who attends UVM, and our dog. It was comfortable, peaceful, and perfect! The beds were comfortable, the house has everything you need, and Maude was easily accessible. We hope to return someday.

NOT ADJACENT TO STOWE IN WINTER
This is what I feel like the title of this property listing should be. I've never been to the Stowe region before, so I was unaware that Rt 108 between Stowe and Smugglers closes in the winter. This property is on the far side, meaning it is nearly a 50-minute ride around from Stowe. To be fair, this information is included in the listing, at the bottom, in the last paragraph. I missed that when I booked it and didn't realize my mistake until it was too late to cancel. In my opinion (and that is all this is), for full transparency, this information should be in bold at the top of the listing.
The property was very nice, well-stocked, and enjoyable. The host was attentive but not suffocating. The only issue we had with the house was the horrible water pressure in the shower. It was nearly unusable and a disappointing discovery after our 53-minute ride home after spending the day Skiing at Stowe.
One star off for the really poor water pressure. The Rt 108 issue is on me for not reading carefully. Hopefully, future renters new to the area in winter will notice the details I missed!

Great snowy adventures and cozy chalet
The chalet is so cozy, updated and clean. We had a lovely 3 night stay in January. Maude is a great hostess and thought of all the necessary appointments in the kitchen. The TV setup is great with a Roku. We even played the monopoly (there are other games and puzzles)! 2 min. To Smugglers Notch and 45 min to Burlington too. We would Love to visit again!

An incredible place to stay!!
We booked a last minute trip to vermont and found this lovely property. We are so happy we chose to stay here as it was exactly what we were looking for and more. The location is 2-3 mins from smugglers notch and on a beautiful piece of land. The home itself was perfect - so so so clean, very cozy, well stocked with everything you could need, and easy to get to. We had absolutely no issues during our stay and felt right at home with our two dogs.
Maude was incredibly responsive throughout the entire process and lives nearby, which was very comforting. She made the check in and check out process clear and easy, so it was seamless.
In addition to the amenities listed, I want to point out some pluses that made it great - The home had an office area with a desk that allowed us to work remotely, had a great entry way for all snow gear, a washer/dryer, and a smart television. The property is beautiful and has a wonderful back deck to view the creek and numerous motion lights throughout that made walking the dogs in the dark, very easy. It’s also across the street from a lovely maple syrup sugaring business!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND this home!!

Cozy retreat for a family of 4
If you’re looking for a cozy private place to stay that is a stone’s throw away from Smugglers Notch this is the place. This chalet was the perfect respite for my family and I to come home to after a full day of skiing. Updated and super clean, the owners thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable and homey as possible. Comfortable memory foam beds, FULLY stocked kitchen (down to the Tupperware containers to store our ski lunches so we didn’t have to buy foil/plastic wrap—a big pet peeve!) With beautiful views of the wooded creek in the back, to the boardgames and anything we wanted to watch on TV, this little chalet was literally was a home away from home for us. We loved it so much that our kids have requested to stay here again next year!

Peaceful and Relaxing
This was a great little cabin with an inviting red front door in a tranquil location and a stream right in the back yard, just as pictured. It was cozy and very clean, albeit a bit musty from being closed up.
The back deck was a spacious, area, but there were thick cobwebs draped everywhere. Ok, we know, it’s a cabin out in nature where spiders live, but a good pressure wash, airing out, and leaf blowing would be nice before guests arrive.
The kitchen was well equipped with all the essentials for a short stay, and the dishwasher was super convenient. A huge picture window over the sink facing the road allowed a clear view of the lodge and maple sugaring business across the street, but the long-dead flowers in the planter box (complete with cobwebs of course) were a bit of an eyesore. Fake flowers? There was also no curtain at the kitchen window, so we tried to keep the light off at night. Curtains in other rooms were hung poorly, sliding completely off the brackets with each pull. Annoying.
The HVAC system was a bit quirky with separate units in each room. We didn’t realize a breaker had tripped before we arrived, so there was no heat in the master bedroom, but the residual heat from the rest of the cabin was sufficient. When we flipped the breaker back on and turned the heat on in the master, a terrible hard-to-describe smell emanated from the vent, so we turned it back off.
The washer/dryer combo was convenient, but dirty, with hair, crud and stains left behind. We risked using it anyway and learned that doing so with the heat on in the second bedroom at the same time trips a breaker. Surprise! Another surprise was the water smelled like sulfur or rotten eggs, so we purchased bottled water for everything but showering.
The TV sits on a stand with a lip at the lower edge that blocks the signal from the remote, meaning it’s necessary to hold your arm up in the air to operate the remote. Raising the TV just a hair would be nice.
Finally, this review is not just about being a Negative Nellie; just putting the facts out there. This little cabin has a LOT of potential, but some basic improvements could make a huge difference. I would recommend visiting, but if you’re looking for 5-star accommodations (we weren’t), this will not be for you.

Cute chalet
Lovely chalet, close to some cute shops in Jeffersonville, and close enough to Stowe, Burlington, Waterbury, etc for some day trips. The accommodations were clean and comfortable and Maude the owner is very responsive. The view from the deck was beautiful and feels quite private. The only downside is that the well water smells a bit unpleasant. Otherwise, great place!

Pricey camp experience
The babbling brook and fire pit were very nice. The property was clean and comfortable. However, there was no water pressure in the shower, none. 4 nights, no shower! The television continually froze when we did get it to work. Bare necessities were provided, nothing more. For the price, we deserved better. The property is overvalued and needs a fuctioning shower.

Really enjoyed our stay
Loved sitting on the back deck and relaxing near the river. Property was clean and had everything we needed. Enjoyed family time around the outdoor fire and it was convenient to local restaurants/pubs. Would stay here again!
