I have wanted to stay at Eden Roc for years! I’m not sure why,… I didn’t know anything about the motel… I have just been drawn to it for some unknown reason, it just seemed so kitschy and full of character. I was NOT disappointed!!!
We came across a great price so I finally went for it! Can’t beat the location for the price. The pool is well maintained, and the property was recently remodeled. The queen bed, partial ocean view rooms are a bit small, but I didn’t mind that; I only mention it because it is a factor to consider. The staff was very friendly. The location is perfect! We never had trouble finding a parking space.
Just to be clear, I absolutely will be staying here next time I’m in town, but these are a few knit-picky constructive criticisms. Having to keep track of the “breakfast tickets” (just a small slip of paper) proved to be a challenge for us! We had to search for them every morning because neither of us bothered to put them in a safe place like a wallet or purse.
The room had a shelf unit and a bar to hang clothes from, but no drawers or closet doors. I never unpack anyways, so I wasn’t concerned about it at first. But everything being visually out in the open like that made the room feel very cluttered no matter how much we tried to keep things tidy.
I believe the hotel was remodeled before this season (2024)… fresh paint, new decor, etc. But even the best make-up can’t hide wrinkles: the floors are very uneven, both in the room and in spots on the balcony. It wasn’t an issue for us, but could be problematic for someone with mobility issues. We stayed in the second floor; I would assume the floors of the rooms on first floor are probably less warped.
Again, these are in no way deal breakers for me and my boyfriend; we loved the kitsch factor! But if you prefer upscale lodging, this probably isn’t the place for you, so stay in your lane!

I loved the location and the pool even though it was small it was enough for us to get in with our daughter!
There was a gap in our door that shined so much light in our toddler had issues getting to bed. The air conditioner didn’t work even at the coolest setting. When we checked in there was sand all over the floor.

The breakfast was good, I took advantage of the bike coupon and the workers were very friendly and helpful.
I really didn't like that I had to walk to the parking garage to park my car.

The location is good. It was near the boardwalk and oceanfront.
The parking and the room are too small. It is different from the picture shown on the website. We will need to walk more than a mile to go to attractions.

The location was wonderful. We were right on the boardwalk, which was exactly what I wanted. The quick grab and go breakfast was good. The room smelled clean the minute we checked in.
You had to pay for ice. There weren't any plastic cups or a clock in the room; things that are small, but are expected in rooms. I expected the terrace area to be private; it was shared ( not a fan of that). The sliding glass door was extremely hard to open and close (very old, worn and needing replacement).

Breakfast was not served the time we were there, just coffee
Safety lock on the door was broken, no light where you hang your clothes. no elevator for seniors that have problems with stairs

the new remodel and it was close to the beach and and new staff was amazing
water pressure could have been better

Staff very nice! Pillows nice and fluffy and rooms clean.
Walls are thin so could hear other rooms especially the upstairs toilet and shower. Room said it was supposed to have a couch but didn’t.

The breakfast was good, breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, coffee, cereal. Beds where comfortable and great location and fair prices. Staff was really nice and loved the pool.
Cable only had 3 channels that worked.

I liked the retro feel of this place. The staff was kind and we had room facing the pool which my kids loved.
Beds do need to be updated and changed, very uncomfortable but I have slept on worse.

Location was far enough away but close to the beach. Friendly staff and parking was great.
Beds were creaky and the table in the room was wobbly.

So close to the beach it was great with the Littles. Our rooms AC had issues it was muggy and a little hot in there. I did not contact management because it was not unbearable. Plus we were barely in our rooms. Pool is nice very clean. The free breakfast is basic so don't expect like pancakes or anything it was cereal, microwave breakfast sandwiches, yogurt, coffee, and juice. For the price I thought it was super awesome! Also ask for the coupon for the free bike rental it covers the family bikes with the 4 seaters and it was super fun! Also make note if you use outside parties to book your stay there is a $100 deposit fee that comes off your debit card/ credit card.
Just the AC had some issues.

We are going to plan another stay next summer for a much longer trip
Too far form the ocean. But because it was such a lager room I understand there wasn't a view with the 9cean

Cozy and family friendly and close to the beach. Staff friendly.
Not enough parking. Ice machine broken. Sad breakfast.
3.4
Location & value. Very low key. People sit around outside of rooms and around pool and chat, like family! Seriously is just steps from boardwalk and beach. Can catch a tram to the action. Bank with walk up ATM across street. Java shop a few doors down the boardwalk. Bed was comfy. AC and fridge were cold. Coupon for free bikes! Free wifi. Very 1950's, shabby chic!
No hair dryer in room. No ice. Towels are very small and thin.

Location

Ocean front view, easy access to the beach, little kitchen, maid service, parking
Kitchen table leaf was slanted so stuff kept sliding off, spotty network so we couldn't watch TV very well, shower had a crack in tub floor
3.4
Very close to the beach and right on the boardwalk
A little outdated. The rooms could afford to be updated a little
3.4
Convenient to beach. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
Lighting was bad in room and walkway. Towels were thin and rough. Breakfast was too late. Beds kept sliding away from headboard. Tub was stained and dirty. Was expecting boardwalk and ocean view which was indicated in the ad. No coffee pot or cups in room. Ice machine inoperative. Pool steps were slippery. Toilet ran water continuously.

Better if you stay in the new part.
Found cockroach, dirty bed.

Retro

I like the '60's retro beach vibe. Location is great if you want to be close to the boardwalk fun, but not right at the carnival-like inlet end of town. I say book it if you're into the retro bohemian beach bum kinda thing.
The rooms are definitely dated and show signs of wear, which is to be expected for an older motel. Kind of "no frills" when it comes to the room itself (216). I thought the phrase "ocean view" used in the description was a bit misleading. You can see the ocean from the front door of the room if you step out on the public walkway and turn to the left, but it's not much of a view. ...then again, if you're looking for swanky, this isn't the sort of place you're going to be booking anyway.

The location was just off the boardwalk, quick walk to the beach.
Many things were problems at this location, we were required to park on the 5th floor of a parking garage while passing many open spots on lower floors, on top of the fact the garage was very sketchy and had elevators that look forever to get up and down. The room was not clean, stains all over the mattress and floors, and they didn’t even give us a new roll of toilet paper just folded the one left with like 2 feet of paper on it so we had no toilet paper the first day. The rooms are extremely hot, even with the AC unit on I was sweating. The walls are extremely thin so you can hear the people under, and next to you very clearly. And there is this ongoing loud bass sound that would stop for 2 minutes then kick back in, so you need to turn the TV all the way up to drown out the bass sound just buzzing. Our door barley opened up half the time you have to slam the handle down then pull up quick to get in. Also the small microwave couldn’t even heat up pizza so don’t count on being able to use that. Additionally had to pay a $100 deposit even tho the room had been paid for and there’s no extra services. They also have WiFi I think? No one told us the password or knew so idk honestly.

Our room was nicer than I expected, we were upgraded without asking, and the free bike rental was an extra bonus! Also, the staff was very friendly!

The location
The noisy ac unit and no WiFi
