About this house rental

Summary:
Absolute lakefront in the quintessential Bach, situated on the Western shores of Lake Rotorua approximately 8kms from Rotorua City. There is plenty of off-road secure parking, and plenty of space for children to play. A safe sandy beach, kayaks and a dinghy make this an ideal holiday retreat. The cottage is older and basic. It's all about location here, so if 5 star accommodation is what you are after this may not suit.

The Space:
The cottage is older and basic, yet spacious. It has full kitchen facilities and looks straight out to Lake Rotorua. It's all about location here, so if 5 star accommodation is what you are after this may not suit.

The master bedroom has a Queen Bed and Bedroom Two has two Single Beds. Professionally laundered, high quality linen.

There is also a sleepout attached which provides additional bedding for 4 more people, however we do not advertise this fully as the sleepout can get damp when it has been raining. The sleepout is more of a bonus bunk room!

Heating is by a log fire with plenty of wood supplied for the colder months.

Kayaks and lifejackets (shared with back home).

Second time staying here. Excellent location with private beach. Great for smaller children. Lots of space inside and out but inside could do with a deep clean and smells musty. Couldn’t get sky to work again. Would be great if it had a dishwasher. Overall a great place to stay with a large family.

Stayed here with the family for 3 night's. It is spacious with good sized bedrooms. Kitchen, dining and living has all we needed. Fireplace was brilliant.

We had an awesome holiday, this property is fantastic. Plenty of firewood the keep the place warm. The property manager was awesome when we had a small issue they came and sorted it out that night is the pouring rain 👌.. Highly recommend stay.

We had a fabulous family Christmas holiday at Willowood Retreat. The house was perfect for our extended family with heaps of storage for all of our stuff. We loved having our own beach and was really safe swimming. Will come again.

What a cool place to stay. Excellent layout of the house, more than enough room for all of us. It’s very ‘woodland Forrest’ hunter cabin type. Just gorgeous. I’d happily stay again

Eight adults stayed here. 3 bedrooms with 2 single beds and 2 bedrooms with a king sized bed. Living areas were large enough for all of us to laze around and not be on top of each other. Large dining table to also gather around and have a laugh. Great outdoor area where we enjoyed sitting in the sun. Met one of the neighbours (who was lovely), her daughter and their gorgeous cats :) Ngongotaha township was just up the road which was handy. The house isn’t too far from the city. We caught a taxi van once which was only $30ish to get all of us to town which we were happy with. House decor is a little dated but that wasn’t a biggie as everything else was super! Communication with the owner was easy and she responded quickly. We all loved our time here :)

Our two families had a wonderful time in this house. Plenty of room to all eat together and lounge together. Four kids had their own room. King size beds in the other 2 masterrooms. Nice to have 2 bathrooms also.

Awesome, spacious accommodation. 2 fridges are excellent. A clothes drier would be a great addition. The house is just like the photos. Unfortunately the grounds were overgrown & untidy. The main shower door seal falls off, causing leakage & we had to use towels provided to wipe up water. A blue recycling bin is required as the council did not collect our bottles in the green bin provided & we had to go to the recycling centre ourselves, which was an inconvenience. There is a broken bed end on a single bed in the end bedroom. The insinkerator is noisy. We accidentally broke a wine glass. In general, we would highly recommend this home in future.

Great location, close to everything but far enough you can’t smell the sulphur! My only gripe will be the premises while nothing is broken, looks a little rundown and we couldn’t get signal for the TV set top box.

great value. It's often difficult to fine reasonable price accomodation for single people who prefer their own room. The only issue was that there was no sky, and not very reliable Wifi. We had organised to watch the rugby and where very disappointed to find no satelite connection to sky. The property manager responded very quickly to our problem, Thank you, even though you couldn't help. We did not find it very good to hear that when the property manager contacted the owners they said it was working the night before for them, and that as shared. sky connection they were watching sky at the moment. My understanding is shared connection only allows one set to view. Disappointing, as it meant our evening plans had to be totally changed.

We had an awesome time there and big enough to get friends from afar to come stay and catch up and enjoy the barbie. Awesome house, lovely area and still close enough to Rotorua and surrounding areas but just enough out of the city life to enjoy. May wish to stay again around same time next year as enjoyed it emenselly love the fire. 2nd time we had stayed there, 1st time somebody else organised the house this is why we went back cause we thoroughly enjoyed the location and the house Cheers Maggie

The experience was enjoyable. The property is well set up, in a quiet location and is safe. An improvement is the overall cleanliness of the property, and in particular the outside of the windows which had accumulated lots of spider webs.

More room than we needed and the proximity to the lake was nice. It was very cold and rainy the night we arrived and we had a little trouble finding the narrow entrance and knowing which house it was. Owner left great instructions and a nice load of firewood so we could get the heat going. Kitchen and baths were clean. My only complaint was there were quite a few spiders.

My family travelled over from the UK, so we decided to take them up to Rotorua for a week. The house was great for sleeping 10 of us and all the bedrooms worked out great for all of the different age groups. It was very quiet, parking for 3 vehicles and had access to the beach via another property. The hosts were very helpful with information and providing assistance where required. The only thing we would say is that it doesn't have a dishwasher which ends up as a lot of washing up for 10 people but I suppose that's why you have kids eh!!! Thanks very much we enjoyed it.
