About this villa rental
We are taking extreme care of this property with respect to cleaning. We can also offer additional services such as grocery shopping , anything to add to a safe and enjoyable stay.
A renewed old mexican villa that dates from the 19th century, unlike anything you have stayed in before, or perhaps even have seen. The house is an architectural jewel that won first place for renovation in the entire city of Guadalajara 2015, award presented by Mayor of the city.
The price is for entire property, exclusive use, 5 bedrooms, each with large, private bath.
PLEASE NOTE that I do not rent the house for PHOTOGRAPHY or film work unless you rent the house for the minimum days. That is, please do not send an inquiry asking to use the house for a few hours or a day, thank you.
This a unique residence featuring spacious guest rooms with modern elements that provide a feeling of hip and chic to comfortably elegant.
Extensive renovations have been made to plumbing and electrical along with new, private bathrooms containing granite counter tops. Originally everything was built around the center courtyard and that's how it appears today, providing an interior view you have unlikely seen in any other house. Palacete is one of Guadalajara's premier residences, recognized in 2015 for number one restoration in the city and for its stunning architecture ( additional articles can be found online ).
The neighborhood is blue collar with repair shops but very much alive and once inside the house, it is quiet and peaceful. Just relax after your daily adventures and enjoy the pool or a cocktail. The property has five available bedrooms each with private, modern baths, a beautiful kitchen, and of course, the pool. Even if you are traveling with a group, the house offers enough space, ranging from the separated kitchen to the dining area, courtyard, and backyard with pool.
My partner was born in Guadalajara and i have lived in Mexico since late 2008. Our goal is to provide as much expertise about the city that you will need.
Palacete is located near downtown and other areas such as chapultepec where you will find nightlife and restaurants ranging from high-energy to more relaxed. There is a taxi stand just around the corner from the house, just in front of the mexicaltzingo church, and limited parking options if you choose to rent a car. I strongly recommend that you use UBER for your transportation as it’s extremely affordable.
If you are not familiar with the city, you will find that it has a young and vibrant feeling where you can meet interesting locals and foreigners that will show you a warm smile, making your stay in guadalajara a cultural event.
The climate is typically spring-like, never humid, but almost always sunny. If you live in mexico or just visiting, the villa will offer a safe and authentic experience.

A palace in the middle of the city, old style living plus modern comfort, pool etc. We had a great time!

The house is fantastic. People couldn't believe the photos we were sharing. Fantastic artwork, and the caretaker José Angelo was very helpful (but not an English speaker). About 15 minutes walk to tourist sights and restaurants. Can be a bit noisy in the 2 rooms on the front of the house. Would definitely like to stay here again!

This is a rather large nice house with 5 bedrooms and 5 baths and a pool. However, it could be outstanding with attention to the details. I wasn't aware that only 1 bedroom out of 5 had AC, other bedrooms had only a fan. The bedroom downstairs closest to the road is quite noisy at night and in the early morning. There was a rather strong odor of sewer gas in all of the bathrooms which was a surprise. The mattress of bedroom #2 upstairs was super stiff/hard and hurt my back. The towels and hand towels were air dried which made them rather stiff / hard. The owner was very accommodating and replied quickly to any requests but it would be great if he would invest in AC in the bedrooms or quieter fans. The upstairs bedrooms would be unusable in the heat of June to September even with fans. It's a beautiful property that could truly shine with attention to details.

Great place , close to everything. A little noisy in the am hours, in front rooms. The pool was an excellent feature. We used it every day after long days of site seeing. Love that each room had its own private bathroom..

Guadalajara 1/2022
This house is the best kept secret in Guadalajara. It's a very old home that has been renovated and it was like staying in a home from the 1800s (with modern updates) Very spacious kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces. It's in downtown Guadalajara minutes away from Tlaquepaque and Tonala. Taxi stand 1/2 block away. Angel and Andrea the property managers were very accommodating. We felt very safe being in the middle of downtown businesses. Everyone was very respectful. Thank you for sharing this historical house with us.

This house is in a wonderful convenient location! We really enjoyed the pool and the spacious kitchen. We had a huge storm on the evening of our arrival and had a few inconveniences but thanks to Jose he was very attentive and came to our needs as fast as he could! The city streets where flooded but that didn't stop Jose! Thank you so much Jose for making us feel comfortable and safe! We will definitely bring our friends and family back!

Vintage Chic
The house is picturesque and the rooms are very comfortable. We enjoyed the pool and the location was close to a taxi station, church, a nice Mercado and walking distance to a very good fish taco place called Fish Tacos La Paz. We enjoyed the convenience of having Angel - the groundskeeper - stock the fridge with a list of groceries we requested for a small fee as we were arriving late at at night. Angel was friendly and explained the history of the house to us. The owner messaged quickly and was very professional. We will definitely book again!

Impressive
The house is beautiful and comfortable. It was clean and the property manager was very helpful. The location is good, but Guadalajara is huge and traffic is such that it took 30 minutes plus to get anywhere in a car. The Mexicaltzingo Mercado ( 1/2 block away) was a wonderful place for finding fresh food and good breakfasts!

A Property that We'll Remember Forever
This property is a one-of-a-kind property, which has all the amenities a traveler would ever need. It would be ideal for family or friends' reunion. The location could not be better and our family is glad we found this gem.

Gorgeous historic home
From beginning to end we completely enjoyed our experience with booking this home for part of our honeymoon. Rob the owner is very prompt, kind and professional. Angel the keeper of the grounds was incredibly nice, informative and accommodating. The pictures listed are beautiful but you truly have to walk into this home to experience the grandeur this home has to offer. The history mixed with the exquisite interior design adds to the overall experience of living like a king in a beautiful city like Guadalajara. The amenities such as pool, laundry and a/c were huge perks with this property. Even though you are right in the heart of a busy city the house remained calm, and quiet. I would strongly suggest staying here over any hotel that GDL has to offer. I look forward to booking this house again in the future!

Repeat Customer
This was our second stay at this beautiful property. The kids felt right at home and enjoyed all the space. Angel was a great help as always, and when there was a little hickup he came right over to make sure everything was back to normal. Would highly recommend and will definitely come back.
Thanks Rob!

Great place
This property was a wonderful place to experience Guadalajara. Close to Centro and four blocks from the light rail line. The pool was a great place to relax after sightseeing. The support was outstanding by a local couple who cooked nice meals (twice for a small price) and made sure things were going well. A great ice cream place on the corner just steps away.

Beautiful home, great location!
We had a wonderful week long family vacation at this beautiful Villa! Angel, the caretaker of the home, was awesome. We arrived around 9:00pm on a Friday night and he was so patient and welcoming when we arrived. He took his time to walk us around the home and show us everything. He even walked us outside to show us where the closest store was so we could pick up a few things for the morning. The home is beautiful and well maintained. There were 10 of us and we had plenty of space with the 5 bedrooms and 5 full baths in every room. The kitchen was well equipped and Angel made sure we had enough bottled water the entire week. The weather was beautiful in the evenings and hot during the day(85-90). There are two bedrooms upstairs and three downstairs. My husband and I and my two daughters stayed in the rooms upstairs. My only recommendation would be to add air conditioning units in all the bedrooms or at least the two upstairs. I felt like it got hot up there but they did have fans in all the rooms which was helpful. The pool and the garden in the back was beautiful and the kids really enjoyed it! The neighborhood around the home is great. I felt completely safe walking around at any time. There is an amazing Mercado around the corner where you can buy fresh produce, meat, tortillas and even prepared food. There is a small park across the street and every evening there were street vendors serving tortas, tacos, tostadas and even hamburgers. The food at the street vendors was some of the best we had our entire stay! There's also a great little coffee shop around the block called Cafe Galeano. The coffee was delicious and it was such a cute little place! Also, there was an ice cream place right on the corner which we couldn't resist going to every night because it was so delicious! The home is walking distance to a lot of places but when we did need a ride somewhere we used Uber and it worked out great. We would definitely stay here again! Thanks for sharing this beautiful home with us!

Unique and comfortable for large famlies!
Our extended family stayed here and loved it! Each room has its separate bathroom so everyone has lots of privacy. The home is beautiful and very centrally located. We found many places were within walking distance or just a quick Uber away. The pool was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone (especially the kids) and the home caretaker, Angel is very attentive and professional. Thank you for a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back.

It's a great property. With the pool and 5 beds and baths it worked well for our group.
Rob, thank you for the use of your home. My family and I went down to celebrate my birthday and it was perfect. It allowed us to entertain at home with friends and family. Along with being a great jumping off point for other adventures. Angel is a gem! He gave us a great tour of the home on our arrival and made himself available for questions. Angel also returned every couple of days to clean and maintain the pool, he is a great guy and takes pride in the property. I would definitely use the property again. i would like to thank you for your help in allowing me to stay another night after my error on the booking. You made the process easy. Thanks again.

What an awesome property!
As we arrived, Angel and his wife walked us through the property and made us feel so welcomed. They gave us all the info we needed and gave us great pointers for the area. The location of the property is ideal, we would take long walks and visited a couple of museums along the way. We have three children that loved the home, especially the pool. They spent time in the water every day of our stay. One of the great advantages to this house is that every room has it's own full bathroom, which makes getting ready with a large group so much easier. It was a pleasure to meet Rob, this house got lucky with an owner who has put so much effort into it, it truly shows. I'm trying to convince my husband to do a replay of this vacation next year!

HIGHLY Recommend to families & friends!!! We WILL stay here AGAIN!
OUR GROUP: My party consisted of my parents (senior citizens), my older sister's family (who has a teen daughter), my little sister's family (with a pre-teen daughter), and my family (which includes 2 little boys under 10 years old). We traveled to Guadalajara for spring break vacation and to visit some family.
HOUSE: Upon our arrival, Angel, the housekeeper, greeted us and gave us a lot of helpful information including the area the house is in and then left, but not before making us feeling comfortable. The house has rooms upstairs and downstairs so my parent's did not have to climb stairs. The rooms are big and the fact that every room has a bathroom was very helpful with getting everyone out of the house every morning. The house is very well kept and the owners do a good job of providing linens, towels, and additional toiletries you would find in a hotel. The kitchen has all of your needs including dishes, spices, pots, pans, cleaning products, etc. The pool is very clean and conveniently located near the kitchen so you can watch the little ones swimming. The outdoor shower was very helpful as it prevented getting the house floor wet. I can't say enough of how nice this place is. Also, the housekeeper did a great job in prepping the house for us as he only had a few hours between us arriving and another group leaving.
LOCATION:The location of the house was safe for us. If you walk over to the little park/garden during the day and just look around, you will see that most of your needs are nearby. The house is conveniently located near some restaurants, little convenient store, ice cream/smoothie shop and a mercado where you can buy fruit, veggies, and good authentic food. I did not come across any English speakers, but my husband and my brother in law had no trouble going to the store or the marcado. The best part is that when it gets dark, you can walk over to that park (around the corner) and get tacos, tortas, churros, and other mexican street food. I believe they were clean while cooking and preparing the food as no one got sick from eating there. Also, my little boys are extremely picky so the Domino's pizza that delivers to the house was great! TRANSPORTATION: We did not use Uber but we did hear a lot of people talking about using it so, it does sound like they are safe. Due to our group size we ended up hiring a shuttle bus from the airport and back and then hired a tour bus to do tours so we walked around a lot. WE LOVED IT!

Incredible experience, clean, safe, comfortable
We traveled from New York to experience Guadalajara for the 1st time and nothing disappointed. The villa has 5 extremely large bedrooms on 2 floors that gave our group both privacy along with plenty of spaces to gather for meals or cocktails in comfort. We loved the pool along with enormous kitchen and architectura details everywhere you look.
The neighborhood as advertised is working class with repair shops on various corners but extremely interesting with a fruit market and beautiful church within 100 yards. It had a family feel and we felt extremely comfortable, safe, and never had any noise problems at night.
Love, love the city itself and had some great food experiences. Favorite restaurant was probably Anita Li for their shrimp, mango tacos. Spectacular. Would also add that best way to get around is UBER and if you are not familiar with it, go to their website and add it to your phone. It's extremely cheap in this city.

A true jewel from the 19th century
Rob's house is a beautiful piece of property that has been fully renovated and it gave my family and I a great vacation to remember. Angel and Rob were very helpful, comunication with both of them was always a plus since they reply quick to messages and phonecalls.
The house was exactly as described and we felt safe around the neighborhood, I would totally recomend anybody to stay in this little palace since, in my experience, it's sort of a rare find in the vacation rental bussines and won't find anything like this.

Very spacious historic property
This is a beautiful home that makes you feel like you stepped into another era. It was great value for our family of 8. We traveled with our baby and unfortunately the house lacks anywhere comfortable to gather. No real living room to speak of for everyone to watch a movie or just sit around and be comfortable together. We moved furniture to make the spaces work. The floors are cold and due to the open nature of the courtyard it gets very dirty. our 4 year old had black feet everyday! Rugs or carpets would help. The rooms and beds were comfortable and all in all the villa has all the amenities of home. Angel greeted us and was very friendly and helpful whenever we had any questions he came right over. He does not speak English though! The area is ok, a nice church around the corner and a bike station if you want to bike the city. Parking was a bit of a hassle and the area at night didn't feel extremely safe and it was suggested we park our rental car a few blocks away in a 24 hour security paid parking lot. Angel said it was 50 pesos but we were charged more than 120-150 daily (it was not consistent). There is also a beautiful theater around the corner and the anthropology museum a few blocks away. Centrally located and convenient for all sites and downtown area. We would rent this villa again.

Palacial Villa
Several friends and I occupied the entire villa. All you have to do is open the front door and you are wowed. The massive hacienda style great room is quite a sight and is a great focal point for good times. Each of the bedrooms are very large and comfortable with modern baths. At the back is the beautiful pool and courtyard. The neighborhood feels safe and is convenient. We found the hosts to be very helpful and personable and had a thoroughly wonderful time. We did a lot of walking and also liberally used Uber for longer distances. I would highly recommend this villa for a group of friends, a retreat, or many other uses. It is a great value in a wonderful city.
