I stayed here on a girls trip with my two sisters, could not have been happier with the room. The Blackhawk suite is its own separate house off of the main mansion and we really enjoyed having own own space. cheak-in and out was super easy and the breakfasts in the morning were fantastic. As a bonus we were close enough to have an easy walk to downtown galena for shopping and dinners!

The location was fantastic and only a short walk away from Main Street and the mansion was beautiful! The inn keeper was fantastic and everything we needed was always available. The suite was gorgeous and the amenities available were perfect for a weekend our getaway. Breakfast was also delicious and a great start to every morning. We look forward to coming back (already booked again) and staying in a different suite to enjoy it all again soon!
I wish we could have had more helpings of the great breakfast and also wish we had longer to stay!

The room was excellent, breakfast was very good and ice cream at night was a nice touch. Only about 2 blocks from Main St.made it easy to walk to.

Carrie was an attentive and courteous hostess.
The hotel was impeccable and loved the history of the home. The game room was enjoyable. The complementary ice cream was a nice touch. The breakfast and mimosas were delicious. The location was perfect as it was a short walk downtown. Would definitely recommend and stay again

Such a unique experience! So special to stay in a piece of American history. The room was gorgeous, our host Paulina was super helpful…and the town of Galena was magical!

The location was amazing. It was in the town, surrounded by the beautiful buildings. Within walking distance to the strip if you were willing to use the stairs. You can see the promise in the property. We stayed in the room dethatched from main house, but when we asked to be allowed to see the house we were accommodated at the soonest ability. Very friendly, even if we never got to meet anyone.
You can tell that Covid really hit the business hard in the area. Staff is hard to come by and the grounds reflect that a bit. Not as groomed as it could be.

beautiful main floor and hostess was wonderful! Breakfast was delicious.
we were charged $246 for a weeknight and it wasn’t as nice a room or bathroom for that price range.

I felt the young lady wanted us out quickly during breakfast!

The breakfast was wonderful. There were lots of great choices to eat. A beautiful table setting in a gorgeous room.

Unbelievable place to stay in Galena with a very attentive staff and great ownership. They met all of our needs and have an unparalleled history on top of that. Such a great place for anyone looking to get away.
There was nothing I would change but next time we plan to stay in one of the suites to have a bit more space for during the time we are in the room.

Location was good, had to drive to go anywhere. Breakfast was very good, hostess did a great job, and told of very interesting history of house, beds were great, room was as depicted. We were pleased.
Not to much, a coffee maker would have been nice. I personally thought a bit overpriced, that’s just me. No real complaints.

The breakfast was amazing! The food was displayed beautifully and the innkeeper even shared the history of the mansion with us. Our suite (The Grace Suite) was stunning and sitting out on the 2nd story porch and listening to the rain with w glass of wine was heavenly.
There were several flights of stairs to get to our suite. We were aware of this when we booked, but it may not be a good fit for older folks.

Wonderful location at the top of Galena!
Breakfast was not available due to staff shortage

Beautiful rooms, with shared spaces inside and outside. The attention to detail was phenomenal, and Kerrie was so welcoming. Breakfast is a wonderful experience that you don’t want to miss.
4.5
Beautiful home and property. The caretaker has done a wonderful job and really knows the history of the place well.

The breakfast was not included. It was almost $20 extra per guest so we skipped it, so I can't speak to it's quality. This old mansion has been kept up well and is very charming. We could not hear any other guests, though the inn was full. There is a lovely game room and parlor with a pool table and games. Be aware that this is an old house. There are A LOT of steep stairs to get to the third floor and no elevator. There was ice and ice cream bars for guests as well as hot coffee, tea and snacks on check-in. The upper porch faces west so gets a lot of sun and is unusable until evening in summer, but may be quite delightful in winter months.
The front door is tricky to open (there are instructions taped to the front window) but this is an old house so kind of expected. The staircase is not air conditioned so it became very hot throughout the day, but the rooms had A/C that helped to cool them down to a reasonable temperature. The hot tub was unusable, dirty, full of bugs, but who would want to use it in 99 degrees anyway?

Very old building and facilities. AC was not functional. Other room features pretty old.
Breakfast area was elegant.

Staff was nice, good breakfast
Location is tricky as we were hoping to walk more, but the hills prevented that. Would have considered another location due to that.
