The property was clean and easily located. Very private but close to everything. The water get hot and the toliet flushes properly. The bed was comfortable, the AC was cold. Plenty of space, 2 walk-in closets with built in drawers. plenty of towels. Communication was top notch. Highly recommend

We arrived any driving down a overgrown, broken up, pothole ally way. We get upstairs and there is a 13" step up to get into the guesthouse. Once in the guesthouse we noticed that the curtains were tied up into a knot. The window unit a/c unit was hanging in there with a big gap opened to the outside where air and bug could come in. The AC unit was covered with dust and dirt & the filter was full of brown dirt. The sofa was dirty, floor was nasty. Bathtub had the last persons wash towel in it. Reported it to owner and she responded about 40 mins later with thanks for the pictures, our cleaning lady cleaned the Guesthouse today. Finally she refunded the cleaning charge back. I had reported it and forwarded the same photos to VRBO about that premier host guesthouse.
This was a nightmare

He stayed in the Guest House at Magnolia Manor for our recent trip to our daughter’s homecoming. It was a great experience. The property was perfectly clean, had everything we needed and was centrally located. We look forward to our next visit to Jackson, will definitely be staying at Magnolia Manor again. Thank you for your hospitality!

Extremely clean, very cute guest house. Full kitchen and the bathroom is huge. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Convenient to the main roads and to both Belhaven and Millsaps.

My weekend was stressful in all aspects imaginable trying to move in 2 college students in 2 different states within a 24-48 hour window.
The only thing not stressful was staying at this property. I had multiple travel changes that were at times touch and go in less than an hour on a few occasions. The property manager was extremely understanding during such an uncertain and emotional time. Their flexibility with my ever-changing schedule was a Godsend and relieved so much stress. The house was everything and more. We did not want or need for anything that wasn't already readily available in the home. The shower in the "hotel" is to die for! I will definitely recommend to my friends and book again in the future!

We rented the whole house for our daughter's graduation weekend, so that we could all stay together for the event. There were 10 of us who stayed at the house and we had plenty of room to spread out and hot water to shower with. We ate breakfasts and lunches at the house and we ate our dinners out. It was nice to visit with our families and enjoy the ceremony with everyone.

This was a perfect place for two of my family members to stay while providing home cooked meals to the friends that I hosted in the main house. Check in was very easy with detailed instruction provided. We will definitely book this space again whenever we book the main house.

I read the reviews of this property and thought most of the negative ones were very nitpicky. When I stayed at the property I realized I was right. This property is very clean and nice. I was very impressed. I also noticed that the owners had attended to every suggestion that there was on the reviews. This place could be a great place for long term stay if you need to be in Jackson for work or anything like that. The floor does slope a little but if you have a problem with that then don't book a 100 and something year old house to stay in. I thought it gave it character. The bed was very comfortable. We loved this place!

Pros: Very cute little above-the-garage style guest suite, great bathroom, nice kitchenette, great space. Air mattress was easy to find and use, clean and welcoming space.
Cons: Very loud small air conditioner (but effective), ants coming in around window area, bath took a very very very long time to warm up (but that was noted in the brochure/instructions)
Suggestions: Stock the many empty book shelves with some games and or books from a thrift store, it would be fun to have something to do with the family at a cute stop like this. Instructions on how to use the complex shower and including laundry detergent would also be a great addition.

We really wanted to stay in the Belhaven area & the location was great! The guest unit is just as described, but has some room for improvement that would make the stay a lot more comfortable. I hope that the owners will take the following suggestions as feedback and put some time and money into a quick facelift to make this little gem really sparkle.
The kitchen is really convenient, clean, and has pretty much everything you could need for a short stay. I would suggest getting better silverware and organizing it better. The size of the silverware is oddly tiny. I would also suggest getting a small Keurig-type single pod coffee maker.
The bathroom is spacious, but has only the small counter area around the sink for a surface. It would be great to put in a console table, bench, or some other piece of furniture that could be used for surface area and storage of toiletries. There are some hooks, but only one small towel rack. And the sink faucet needs to be tightened up. The toilet is an older round seat-type and flushed slowly, but that's not a surprise in an older house and didn't create any problems.
The bed seemed a bit small for a queen. It was comfortable, but because there is a lean to the floor, it feels like you're rolling out of the bed when you turn over. The apartment is bright, but it would be great to have blackout or heavier drapes that could be pulled over the windows. There is only one bar over the windows (which appeared to be drooping in the center), so there is no way to pull the curtains to block out the sun in the morning. Also, no way to block the sun in the window above where the AC unit is. There are blinds, but they didn't block light well.
There is only the window AC unit for cooling (& heating in the winter), so it got a bit stuffy at times & smelled when we arrived. The AC unit looked dirty & the display was hard to read. A new AC unit might be in order.
There are two large closets. While theses are kind of cool, it would be great to remove one of them to make the usable area of the unit larger. There is a small loveseat that is pretty broken in and adding more room would allow for a new, larger couch.
The house was rented when we stayed & there was a party being held there. The family hosting the party was really friendly, so we were fine with the noise and extra cars & people on the property. If they hadn't been so friendly and nice, the situation could have been very different. Just something to think about.

Terrible window unit. Nothing consistent. Either freezing or stuffy. Bed too small and WAY too soft. Awful. Floor has huge lump in it. Kitchen smelled like insect repellent. Left early due to inability to sleep. Would not recommend.

We had a wonderful time in Jackson. This apartment is very close to the historic stuff. Very easy to get around town from. Very clean property.

I really enjoyed my stay. I stayed for two weeks by myself during the pandemic as I wanted to work from a place that was a bit warmer than my home in Chicago. The place was comfy. Jo was great and very responsive to any concerns. It is a really nice neighborhood just outside the historic district.

Great for Two
This is an apartment off of a main house that is perfect for a couple. It's very roomy and cozy at the same time. The owners are easy to get in touch with for any issues or questions that you have.

Excellent
It was a great experience. The apartment was cute with everything we needed. It was in a good location and was very spacious! The attached house was booked, but this posed no issues. We plan to stay again next year. Thank you very much!

I went to this property for the weekend and I absolutely loved it! The property is accurately listed and is actually much cuter in person. The home it is attached to and the property it is on is beautiful. Although it was connected to the main home, I felt like I had 100% privacy and everything I needed. The bathroom is HUGE and the kitchen has everything you would need. The bed is extremely comfortable and the apartment is clean. They have everything you would need for a stay and at such an affordable price. Grocery and specialty stores are all within 5 minutes and a couple restaurants are right around the corner. Overall a great stay and will be back if I have to go to Jackson!
