The only food was oatmeal and coffee.
Have staff on property and open the restaurant.

Loved the location and the cozy space.
I thought I was a little overpriced compared to other places I have stayed recently.

I liked the location and the price. No one was there at check-in or check out and we were left a key.
The front door should clearly be left unlocked since you are provided ONE key to your room. Another guest locked the door and we were locked out for a long time, at night and no one answered at the Inn. my husband basically has to break in. So that was not great!!!!

The Wi-Fi was excellent. As the property was built in the mid 1800s it retains much of its original charm but be warned this does include some uneven floors. Our room was small, the doors to other rooms were left open unless they had guests so some of the others were slightly larger this is typical of the time as the original owners would have added guest rooms to the property in the late 1800s and early 1900s, I liked this original charm which gave the property some character.
First off there is no breakfast and as the kitchen has been closed for 2 years there wasn’t when I booked despite this not being updated on Booking.com. I did contact the property once I noticed this on their own website and was told they were not currently serving food but I could not find any other accommodation nearby so had to put up with this. We were lucky as on our arrival there was a member of staff (presumably the owner as she was the only one we saw during our 2 night stay) who was there to hand us our key and show us to our room but others were not so lucky and just had keys left with little notes telling them which their room was and giving a number to call if they needed. At about 22:00 on our first night an intruder alarm started going off and one of the guests tried calling the number but it went to voicemail. One of the windows in our room was held open by a cut down broom handle and was clearly showing signs of wet rot. There has been a bar on property which is all still in situ and I did venture into the kitchen on property and like the rest of the Inn they are just hints at was has clearly been a happier time for the Monadnock Inn. Regrettably this property is currently for sale and it seems that the current owners have lost interest in both the property and the guests who choose to spend their hard earned cash staying there, maybe once new owners can be found the investment that is much needed will be sourced and the full potential of what could be a great little B&B can be recognised, unfortunately I fear it may already be too late

Neat looking old house. Bedroom was very small, but adequate. Decorated nicely.
First of all, it shouldn’t be advertised as a B & B b/c there was no breakfast. Have no idea if our bathroom was cleaned b/c i found a dirty washcloth in the shower. Room was very hot. Tried all evening to get the heating/ac unit to operate. Finally gave up as it would not stay on. Had to leave window up all night, but no way to get cool air into the room w/ the door shut. Just “happened” to catch owner/staff? When we arrived, other than that, we never saw another person. Needed someone to explain ac/heating unit or at least get it working. Was just told to leave key on table when we left. So basically, there was zero communication. Note left as to where to get ice in kitchen. Didn’t know if what had previously been the restaurant was considered “the kitchen”. Couldn’t find a light to even go in it, bad smell in there anyway, never did find ice.

Not a lot to be honest. There was a pod coffee machine in reception other than that the only thing we liked was the thought of leaving grateful we had only booked for 2 nights
At no point between booking and arrival did we receive communication telling us the breakfast that was included in the price would not be served. On arrival there was no one at check in just a note with a key, another note advised us there was no breakfast as the kitchen had been closed for a year. We booked within that time period so was falsely sold the room with breakfast, had I known I would have gone elsewhere.
How anyone can think the Inn was cosy or comfy is beyond us, it looked neglected and abandoned. The note on reception said to ensure you closed your bathroom door when showering to avoid setting off the smoke alarm - our bathroom had no handle on the outside so if you closed the door when you then tried to open it the handled pulled out so closing the door fully was not an option. Both aircon units only pumped out hot air - something they are clearly aware of as our room had a fan. The room itself was dark, dingy and poorly decorated with flaking paint and damp areas. Towels and bedding both clean but beds were so soft, it was like sleeping on a marshmallow. Unlike others that left reviews we did have a tv but no guide on how to work it, so it was trial and error.
Downstairs we had no idea where you could or couldn’t go, it was deadly quite really quite spooky and unwelcoming. There was coffee available. A few packs of porridge which could only be made using hot water from the coffee machine which was a pod machine. The fridge had a random pack of grapes and on the day we arrived there were 2 packs of cheap out of date donuts available.
They need to either close this place down or do it properly- it’s a rip off and the prices they are charging are shameful. Avoid at all costs.

Ambience
Light in hallway stayed on all night and lit up our room

I was happy with the room. In a whole the place was a disappointment. I am not sure why they stopped servicing food. I have a feeling its due to lack of help. Seems to be a one person show, Will not be back.
The shower was awful. no water pressure at all. No breakfast.

I was never able to check into the hotel. Notwithstanding that I had a confirmed — and paid — booking there was no one in the hotel to check me in when I arrived (before their stated closing time). I tried calling the hotel for at least an hour before they closed for the night and no one ever picked up the phone.
while that was bad enough the hotel is 20 miles from anywhere so I had to drive an extra 40 miles for nothing.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. Better to sleep in your car as I was forced to do.
see above.

Old traditional historic inn, like a museum. Very nice to visit but not to stay.
Nobody ever in reception, no employees around, never have seen anybody. Private bathroom outside the room on the corredor. Very small room... Thin walls you can here everything. Steps on the floor, restroom noises, people making love etc. Bed very unconfortable. Value-money not ok.

close to conference we were attending. double queen beds was a good choice. room was warm.
Stairs are not safe. no lighting on back building stairs. rooms had many areas of disrepair. no staff, no maid service, our trash was overflowing as it was one small bathroom waste basket. no staff to address issues. door key was very difficult to use. advertised breakfast and dinner..... non offered, update you information, this was what we based our stay on.. The bathroom doorknob kept falling off in our hand.

Location was very good for our activities.
Information about having an associated restaurant and tavern was misleading.
There was little to no information about alternative places to eat.
A TV in the room would be a plus.

Boxed grocery donuts and Keurig coffee
The worn carpet and outdated facilities that aren’t being maintained. Icy driveway and walkway that wasn’t sanded or shoveled

It was very clean! The Inn was well kept and true to it's nature.
The room we were given was tiny. There were only a few of us there, so we felt we could have had a better choice. We paid breakfast rate, but there was no breakfast offered due to staffing. There was no staff at all. You walk in, get your own key. We never saw anyone. And anyone could have come in and taken a key, or stayed in one of the open rooms, at any point. Very odd.

It’s a very vintage, classic hotel in a nice location. Monica was wonderfully helpful.
There’s just no room in the room I was in to lounge in a chair, work on a laptop, sit and read, the bathroom is small with no counter space. That’s all not abnormal for a historical inn, but then I found out I could get a suite at the Woodbound for not much more—-great bar and restaurant, spacious suite, huge bathroom with walk in shower, free breakfast. No brainer, sorry!!!!

lots of charm
no TV; no shower; had reduced rate because they didn’t have the staff to serve the free breakfast, but that wasn’t reflected in booking.com’s rate so paid almost double.

The bedrooms were decorated beautifully
There was no place to hang clothes. The bedroom is definitely not handicap accessible.

The staff! The porch, the tub in my room, the decor, the whole overall vibe.
Breakfast and the Bar where closed due to covid and lack of employees. I was excited about these things because of the raving reviews. I also wish this information was shared before had, so I could have prepared differently. The tub was a slow drain.

Breakfast was not provided as said. The person at check in said we could have a yogurt, and grapes. We had to go to the grocery store because that was not going to be enough to hike on.
It was quiet, and convenient to the park.
The internet was not good. It is a good thing that we didn't have to do anything work related. It was really shabby. Saw there was a screened in porch, but nobody told us if we could go there, or what areas were for community use. There was only 1 plug in the room that accommodated a 3 prong plug. Just unexpected. There weren't any glasses in the room for water. They were available in the kitchen if you wanted one. A bit inconvenient once you were in your room.

It had charm at one time. Nice antiques and close to the venue we were at that weekend.
Th place is in need of renovations and landscaping. The floors creaked when other guests walked by. The walls are thin so it was important to talk quietly as not to disturb others.

The restaurant was not open due to being previously closed from COVID and the Inn's inability to hire help to re-open the restaurant.
Stayed there 2 yrs ago and the food was very good as well as the staffing.
The plumbing needed work in our room. When you turned on the shower, half of the water came out the shower head and 1/2 out of the tub faucet. The toilet wouldn't flush properly & required the handle to be held down until the flush cycle finished.
Needed more room to place your toiletries in the bathroom. Since there was a pedestal sink in front of the mirror, I had to place a hand towel in the sink to put my makeup bag on for applying my makeup. The place was clean, air conditioner was kept cold although had a remote for managing the temp. The bed was made daily and the towels left in tub were replaced. with clean ones.
The bar area and dining area were closed off, but the downstairs sitting area was very cozy and great for sitting and chatting with family that were visiting for a wedding. There was also a nice front porch to sit on with comfortable chairs. We were able to use the fridge and any dishes, utensils or glasses we required for any snacks we brought in. We rinsed our dishes but were directed to leave our dishes for the staff person to clean in the morning. We were greeted with hospitality when we arrived and if the front desk clerk was gone, there was always a note at the front desk with a contact number should we needed anything.
I ended up leaving my phone charger and appreciated the front desk clerk's offer to locate it and send it to me.
Great Historic Inn that needs a little more updating to bring it back to it's old glory.
