I was pleased and surprised at how quiet and peaceful this lake was. Even on the weekends we rarely saw boat traffic or heard others. It was such a relaxing experience! The house was very comfortable and spacious. The online listing didn’t do it justice!
Our only disappointments were that we were not able to use the hot tub (best to remove that amenity from the listing if you don’t want renters to use it); the dishes in the dishwasher were not clean; and the downstairs toilet was clogged with a wad of paper towel. These were all easily resolved by us so we didn’t contact the owner.
We definitely have moved this place to the top of our list for next year!

Loved the lake home! Great 1920's "cottage," decor, and landscaping. Comfortable beds. GORGEOUS kitchen! Lots of room for everyone. The sunroom was our gathering place for meals and cards and other games. The furniture outside offered us an opportunity to watch the sun rise over the lake while enjoying our morning coffee. We had six seniors in our group, so it would have been nice to know that there are 78 steps from the door of the house down to the dock. Although, it did get easier to navigate as the week went on. Also, the toilets are so low for seniors, especially the two of us with new hip replacements, so we brought along a toilet seat extender. Interesting spiral staircase in the middle of the house. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon to a house that had not been cleaned, but we put our "gloves" on, and my niece cleaned both bathrooms and I washed and dried 4 loads of sheets and towels. I think the house needs a good "spring/fall" cleaning, and the housekeeper should be reminded to dust all surfaces. We had a great show by three pileated woodpeckers who were working on a log in the wood pile: my grandnephew said it was such a thrill. It was a lovely two weeks. I have been coming down from Alaska to do these trips with family for the past 15 years and this truly was my favorite "lake home" of all. I feel that there is some interesting history in this home and location. Would love to sit with the owner sometime and hear what stories this house has to tell. Thank You

We enjoyed a great week on Ox Lake. We were able to use all of the water toys provided including the fishing boat, kayaks and paddle boards. The inside fun included the pool table and late night poker with the son-in-laws on the poker table. The house was very comfortable for our family of 9 including a 1 year old toddler. Kent the owner was very helpful and responsive.

Very Comfy Place!
We were very pleased with the home and its situation on Ox Lake. The amenities were perfect for us, including the selection of watercraft, the pool table, and the Netflix access. We had a small plumbing problem, and within an hour after we called the owner there was a very friendly handyman on scene who took care of the problem. Thank you, Kent Peterson, for providing us with just what we needed in vacation accomodations!

Great house, lake and fun. We will return
This was our second time at this property. We love it! It includes absolutely everything you need including the row boat, kayaks, canoes and paddle boards. We hope to make this property an annual tradition! Lots of room and fun for rainy days as well with ping pong, pool table, etc. The lake is crystal clear. Very quiet and relaxing enjoying nature.

Peterson’s Island View
Beautiful old house full of character, charm, furnishing and details that fit in just right with the North woodsy setting. Views were magnificent. Plenty of supplies. Owner responded quickly. Plenty of fun things to do on both lakes. Good location, close to Crosslake but still out in the wilderness. .

Vacation at a cabin in the Woods
There is much to do at the Crosslake cabin. Nestled in the woods, there were kayaks, a fishing boat, paddle boards and a floating pad on Ox lake. We enjoyed them all. There was also many comfortable patio chairs on the dock to just relax and enjoy the loons calling or watch the Eagles fish.
With a boat dock on Loon Lake, we used our 18' boat for grandchildren to use our raft and explore the many other lakes. At night we had a bonfire up by the cabin in the fire pit as many of us had S'mores for dessert. The cabin itself is large with many seating areas, including downstairs where we all enjoyed a few pool games, or foosball fun.
The whole cabin is decked out in spectacular fashion with furnishings, a well stocked kitchen, and lovely flowers that attracted humming birds all day. My whole family loved the large cabin, surroundings and many choices of Lake toys.
Very special place worthy of a vacation! Thanks to the owner who was very responsive to any questions we had.

Spacious cabin, beautiful lake!
We experienced the full range of Minnesota weather during our week stay. We enjoyed the wood burning fireplace while playing games during the cooler days and then the floaty dock, lily pad and paddle boards on the warm days. Lots to do! And plenty of room!

Beautiful views of the lake
Beautiful view of Ox Lake and great access to Whitefish chain. Plenty of room to spread out with 3 levels. I grew up spending summers on Crosslake we couldn’t ask for a better vacation. Felt like I was home again. Kent was an excellent host and we were provided with everything we needed for a memorable vacation. I just love the ambience of the place it’s how a cabin should be. All the modern conviences but it looks like the lake homes I remember.

Best lake house ever - quiet, clear lake, everything you need here
The property is wonderful. Great view from the house, and extensive shoreline. House is large and has everything you need for great days on the lake as well as non lake activities. We really enjoyed having the kayaks canoes and paddle boards included on site. Also lots of non lake activities as well pool table, ping pong, etc. We will return to this special place. Lake is quiet. Not much boat traffic. Lots of space inside and out.

We arrived to dirty dishes in the dishwasher and an extremely strong mold/musty smell in the laundry room with a stack of dirty towels on the floor and wet laundry in the washer. We called Kent right away and he contacted the cleaning company which came out a couple hours later. They took the laundry and did dishes but later on we found more cleaning issues. We also needed a maintenance guy to come out for the shower head upstairs not working, bees all over the dock and in paddle boat and to look into the smell in the laundry room. Not a great start. We ended up doing a lot of cleaning and laundry ourselves, since we did not have enough clean towels to last a day. That aside the lake was great. Clear with excellent fishing, neighbors seemed nice. Our kids had a great time. The place was stocked with everything we needed to cook and clean. Playing pool, ping pong and Foosball each night was a blast.Overall there were too many issues to justify the 3k a week we spent since we've gotten more for less on VRBO/Homeaway. The owner contacted maintenance/cleaning when we had issues but never followed up with us to see how we were doing or offered any kind of refund. We literally got sick from trying to air out the smell in the basement the first night. We had fun but would not stay there again.

Fantastic Escape to Lake Country
2 grandparents, 2 parents and 2 children (6 and 9) loved this lake with paddle boards. Kayaks, canoe and of course the floating dock and mat. Very calm lake. Accommodations excellent!!!

Great cabin
Great location and cabin. Really well-equipped kitchen. Beautiful lake is clean and quiet. Lots to do with kayaks, paddle boards, swim pad, pool table, foose ball, games. Netflix passed our stormy day easily. An easy 20-25 bike ride into Crosslake with minigolf and ice cream. A great cabin set up where there are spaces to be with your family and plenty of little spots to get away, as well. I highly recommend this cabin and would go back again.

Peaceful and fun getaway
We had such a wonderful time at this property. House was at a perfect location with access to two lakes and close to grocery store and restaurants. There was always plenty to do on the lake and at nights read a book or watch a movie. Many selections available at this property in terms of classic movies and great books. Kids loved swimming, the lily pad along with playing ping pong, fooseball and lots of uno.

Lovely Lakefront Loon Lodge
Our family enjoyed a lovely getaway at this house. Kitchen is well stocked with pans and pantry essentials. We spent several days putting together a puzzle in the sunroom overlooking the lake. We enjoyed kayaking around the lake and the kids loved the floating mat and sunbathing float. Loons called across the lake every evening. Lake is perfect size for kids just learning to waterski or for kayaking. Owner extremely responsive and mailed forgotten items to us, charging us only for postage. We would love to return if our plans allow us to be in MN again!

Island View Retreat
This property has everything we could expect for a family vacation. Plenty of space to visit, to prepare and share meals, spend time on a peaceful and beautiful lake, taking a boat, a canoe, a kayak, or a paddle board for an adventure or a quiet paddle. The cabin itself is beautiful and accommodating, with touches both old and new: fieldstone foundations, fireplace, gorgeous woodwork, stone tile and hardwood floors, and a large kitchen. The cabin also boasts recreational equipment for indoor activities in its own game room. Outdoor spaces included a generous fire ring, adirondack chairs for reading and admiring the beautiful lake views, a deck, hammock, and a large lakeside dock. We all enjoyed this place's many amenities.

Beautiful property, lake and plenty of toys and the tranquility is indescribable. The home is very clean, and well appointed with plenty of room to spread out. This is a must stay for larger groups.

Relaxing property and lake
Cabin and property provides many nice places to relax and enjoy quiet time or table activities. Lake is very quiet and great for fishing, kayak, swimming. Raft offshore was a favorite place to hang out. Cabin is older but in great shape and has a lot of charm. Single bathroom on the main floor should be considered if thinking about larger groups. Would return to this property without concern.

Beautiful week on Ox Lake
This is a lovely old lake home with some modern updates. It has a lovely calm feel to the house. Our group of 9 really enjoyed themselves. We loved eating on the deck and taking in the beautiful view. We were lucky that the weather was very moderate (low 80's) and that it cooled off nicely at night. The many ceiling fans kept the temperature very comfortable. On the not so lucky side, there was a huge hatch of mosquitos --the grocery store was sold out of bug spray! We managed pretty well and all brought home numerous bites. This is just Mother Nature and not anything that could be controlled.
We also enjoyed using the kayaks, Stand up paddle board and canoes. Our kids are all adults but that doesn't mean they don't like extra water toys! The raft off shore was also enjoyed and utilized.
A wonderful family week at the lake.

Idyllic
We had a weeks vacation in July and could not have chosen a more perfect place. This cabin has so much character... we were pleasantly surprised!! The large windows, ceiling fans and comfy furniture made it so liveable. There are so many great spots to read a book, have a cup of coffee, or just look at the towering pines. We prepared a lot of meals and the kitchen was very well stocked. We used the canoe and went out and explored the island, listened to loons calling daily, had campfires and grilled on the two Webers. We have friends on the Whitefish chain who came to visit and they were in AWE of the views! We would come back in a minute!!!

Beautiful cabin, fabulous setting!
Our family loved this cabin for a cozy northwoods get-away! It was clean, spacious, well-stocked and our kids especially loved the walk-out level rec area. Great cross-country skiing nearby, and walking on the lake ice was fun as well. The cabin is close to the town of Crosslake, so getting groceries, going out to eat, and other activities are only minutes away. Kent was easy to work with, offering suggestions of good hiking and skiing areas nearby. I would highly recommend this property for anytime of the year. We'd love to come back in the summer!
